1 Star for the food, 1 Star for the terrible service which now makes for a funny story. This review is mostly based on the service, rather than the food, which is actually quite good. A group of 5 of us walked in and the gent sat us towards the back. One of the guys in our group asked if we could sit upstairs and the gent said no bc it was closed. Understandable no problem. We ordered and someone in our group has a peanut allergy and asked which deserts are peanut free, our server said he didn’t know, desserts are pre-made, and told him to pick a dessert. Okay, RUDE. He brought over a bread basket, set it at our table, walked away, then came back and took it away. A friend asked for butter and the server said«Why? The escargot already has butter.» We want butter, get us our butter and don’t worry about why we want it! We asked for more napkins, and he asked if we had used them all. GETUSNAPKINS, and don’t worry about it. Finally, at the end I asked for directions to the RER Station at St. Michel, and the gent held up his hand to my face, and said«one minute». Ick, go here, to experience the typical Parisian rudeness, but don’t take it personally, ONLYGOHEREIFYOUHAVE A SENSEOFHUMOR.

This is advertised as a traditional restaurant and it doesn’t disappoint. It is a very small and busy place but it couldn’t be described as noisy. They have a good menu and a very reasonably priced set menu. Wine selection was great and the service efficient.

ATMOSPHERE: Store front is very small as this restaurant is thin and long with a small 1st floor and there is a 2nd floor for bigger groups. Cozy. A little busy but not packed when we came at lunch time. LOCATION: Just south of the Notre Dame on the left bank along the hustle and bustle of St Severin around lots of other restaurants, bakeries, shops. Very cute area and very easily missed if not pointed in that direction. We found this place by taking the historic audio tour from Rick Steve’s which is free btw! Just download the podcast! FOOD: We ordered: 1. Raclette — enough for 2 small people or 1 large guy. Sliced meat, 3 medium boiled potatoes, and variety of sliced meats. You put the cheese on top of this mini hot plate with a small burning flame underneath for the cheese to melt and then you tilt it to melt on top of your food. It was good but the preparation behind the dish was simple like you can do this at home if you have the raclette apparatus to heat the cheese. 2. French onion soup — yum! Pretty good and not too«oniony.» 3. Filet mignon with potato fries — it was pork! But very good and tender with a creamy sauce on top. Fries were thick cut French fries. 4. Complimentary bread — great white French baguette sliced up. 5. Korenenburg — only beer available. It was on the lighter side which we like. SERVICE: There were only 2 guys that ran the place. They were probably the owners it looked like. Actually great which is rare in Paris. No complaints here! PRICES: Reasonable and comparable to the places around it that aren’t fast food. 3 courses were E16. Beer E4.50. Raclette was $ 15. CONCLUSION: Great little cozy place with reasonable prices. Recommended if you want French food!
