This is probably my best hidden gem I found in Paris. I love the atmosphere that is so typically French, not to big, a bit dark, small tables and nice wines. Food is great! I have been here now a couple of times and spend much time in Paris — so whenever I travel here I do eat here If you are with two — do try the côte du boeuf! Best ever tasted ! They have a wide range of wines and even ask you how you’d like it served(a bit cold or 18C). They know there cuisine and I just really love coming here… There is only one downside… As I like it here so much, I tent to forget to try other places…

After a few back alley turns, you will find your way to this hidden gem. We arrived a round 11am after wandering the streets of Paris. We weren’t sure if they served anything before noon so thought we’d just peek in for a bit. When we cracked open the front door, the aroma of butter and fresh seafood mixed herbs and spices filled the air and we knew we had to come back. The hostess was still prepping the dining area and she graciously asked us to return at noon. So at noon ~ 12:01 to be exact, we walked into the quaint bistro. We were served still Evian and the hostess(perhaps owner?) spoke English and kindly translated the menu for us — thank goodness! We ordered the escargot with mushroom crème & foie gras with strawberry compote as entrees. For our main plates we had the filet of ribeye and veal with sauteed shallots served with sliced fried potatoes and dijon mustard. By the time we left, the tables were almost completely filled with locals. Always a good sign! Will definitely make our way back. :) From start to finish… everything was magnificent. We could have gone for a second round of entrees but could hardly finish desert which we ordered a plate of cheese. Truly delicious and a must visit when coming to this part of town.

Lovely place for dinner. The waitress asked if we spoke French(a bit) before telling us about the menu in wonderful English. We had seven folks and they rearranged the tables to make sure we were comfortable. The escargot was in a delicious cream sauce with onions and mushrooms– perfect for dipping our bread! I shared the ribs with a small girl. Tender and perfectly seasoned. The duck was enjoyed by multiple people at our table. Dessert was a chocolate cake ala mode that tasted like heaven. Would go back in a heartbeat!

What a great find in Paris! I went here wanting to find authentic French food at a hole in the wall place, and I did. There were two waitresses working and they were so sweet to me and my boyfriend! We ordered the escargot and cheese salad for our appetizers, and they were both delicious! The cheese on the salad was very nice. For my main plate, I ordered the veal medallions with beans and potatoes. They were so tender and the sauce was amazing! For dessert, we got the chocolate lava cake and the crème brûlée. Both fantastic. I wish I could go back!

This charming little place was just a few steps from our apartment on Rue St. Honore. We strolled down and arrived at 7:30 to a totally empty restaurant. The menu was presented on a chalkboard and although we could have deciphered it with our limited French, our waitress translated it for us. The food was very good and my Mom and I shared the cote de boeuf for two and it was the BEST steak I’ve ever had in my life. So delicious. I was a little embarrassed because the chef came out with the big hunk of cooked beef on a cutting board and I was all, «Gimmie!»(disclaimer, I did not actually say that but did starting moving my cutlery for the big cutting board) but he said, «No, I’m just showing you before I slice it». I had a laugh at myself for sure, lol. But it really did look and taste incredible. My sister also claims that she had the best crème brûlée of her life here and it made her a little teary eyed. Prices were great, too. 3 courses for 4 people and a bottle of wine was $ 130 Euros.

My wife and I have been going to this place for 40 years, since it was run by Mama, who many years previously had appeared on stage with Piaf and had the photos to prove it. It is now run by a couple of fellows who have certainly kept up the standards. Do not mistake this for an elegant restaurant, because it is not. It’s a very good neighborhood Parisian restaurant and you should rejoice that places like this exist.

Tres bon, and they honored my bien cuit(well done) order! And, the best crème brûlée. Ever.

It was very hard for me to rate this place. The service is good, and the atmosphere is typically Parisian especially at lunch. However, the food is not that good considering the price. 20 euros for appetizer and main course at lunch is quite expensive in Paris, especially when you have to pay more for most of the main courses. Besides, the food was good and probably fresh but not amazing at all.

Pleasantly surprised by the beef bourguignon that was perfectly complimented by the house wine. Clearly the best meal I’ve had while in the city.

I’m always afraid of posting positive reviews for really small foreign restaurants in the fear that they will become«too popular» and not bee able to keep their high standards. Auberge St. Roch(about a 10-minute walk south of the Paris Opera House) is a fantastic find and I was very pleased by their food quality, service, and value. I choose the $ 31 prix fixe dinner option which comes with an appetizer or salad, main course, and dessert. I started with the escargot in a cream sauce, had the duck breast(served medium rare) and scallop potatoes for the entrée, and finished off with a chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream. I would have paid double the price and still considered it a great value. Everything was amazing and it sure was nice that they had a reasonably priced wine menu as well. On the night I was there one of the servers translated each of the 15-options from the daily menu board. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Seriously the best meal in Paris. Super cozy, warm friendly service, and all the food was to die for. Wines are in the 20 – 40 euro range, and the prices are definitely very affordable for Paris. Better than some Michelin-restaurants I have been to. Highly recommended :)

Was macht man dann?

My girlfriend and I went here for my birthday on a Saturday night. It’s a cosy, small French bistro with a good selection of meat and fish dishes with all the French classics available(duck, steak tartare etc). This is not a pretentious restaurant. People are dressed casual and food is good for the price. Overall well worth a visit and a great choice for a relaxed dinner. Staff were very friendly and spoke English. Average bottle of wine is 20 – 35 euros.

This is a French restaurant that is friendly to English speakers! Our server was kind enough to translate the entire menu to my wife and I without us having to ask since we are from the USA and don’t speak much French. We noticed that most of the other patrons were also non-french speakers — presumably they found this place through Unilocal just as we did. This is not to say that this place isn’t an authentic French experience, they are simply more welcoming to outsiders than some of the other restaurants in Paris we visited. I recommend making a reservation in advance because they get very busy and only seat ~40−50 guests. The interior is very cozy with exposed brick and wooden beams. Our server was very charismatic and brought a lot of energy to our night. We ordered the beef for two medium rare and it was delicious. Be aware that France likes their beef rare, so a medium-rare in France equates to a rare in the USA. All things said, I would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those who do not speak French but still want to experience French dining.

Unilocal did us right on this one, I would highly recommend going here. If you are looking for an authentic, tasty, not too overpriced meal look no further. We struggled through ordering a little, but we landed on a great choice for both myself and my buddy. I had the filet, which was great, but in hindsight I would go with the duck like my friend had. After all, you are in Paris :) We both opted for the three course dinner, and were very happy we did.

This was the absolute best dinner we had in our entire two weeks day while in Paris! I’m not sure if we kept running into bad restaurants or not but this was sure a delight. We walked in without knowing what to expect and found quaint little spot near The Louvre. The staff went above and beyond to treat us like absolute Queens. The menu was exquisite! We had several of the things off the menu and order to split them. We tried the steak, escargot, Doug, and most exquisite red wine. We had such a jolly old time. From laughter too funny jokes with the staff/servers, we had such a wonderful time. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Paris

We arrived about 2130 hours to find a beautiful ancient building with a friendly staff and very good food. They have an almost flat price for all the meals, 20 € for dinner with desert, $ 27 € for entire, dinner with desert. Plus 4 € at night She had the duck and I had the veal medallions in cream & shallots. We had the house wines: she has a house white fruity & dry, and I had the house Bordeaux. Excellent !! Building was built in the 17th century. Staff is wonderful. The manageress kept the mineral water coming(no additional charge) because we’d waked 11 – 12 km today, 18 km the day before an another 15 km the day before that.

Oh my. oh myyyyyy I think this was my favorite meal of my entire Paris trip. I was in Paris for 4 days with some girlfriends staying near the Louvre. I was looking for something French but not too expensive and I came across L’Auberge Saint Roch. The Unilocalers were 100% correct. This place was OUTSTANDING. The staff was SO friendly, they even spoke to me in french since I wanted to practice. A lot of other restaurants I visited were a bit rude or would just talk to me in English right away. They also have a wonderful price fixed menu. We started with the escargot which I would highly recommend, my date got the veal and I got the sea bass both were delicious. Finished with a wonderful crème brûlée. After visiting a few other restaurants in Paris during my stay my friend and I decided we would have gone back again had we known!!! Highly recommend this place if visiting Paris and want a unique French experience with amazing food.

I had the pleasure of dining at L’Auberge St. Roche while staying in Paris on business. This restaurant is a gem, and I would say a must visit for anyone looking for high quality food in a pleasant environment for a reasonable price. I had the prix fixe meal with cassoulet escargot, nagret de canard l’orange, and crème brûlée! Delicious!!! Stop reading and go!
