Le Basilic

Are here twice during our stay. The place is adorable, the people were friendly, and the food is delicious… especially the duck! Best onion soup I had during my stay. I like that they don’t cover it in bread and cheese. The broth has the BEST flavor and it gets to shine that way.
It is cozy in there, so if you need a lot of personal space, it (and France in general) might not be for you.

Had the special de boeuf and duck confit and it was amazing! The duck dish came with 3 duck sleeves and mash while the beef was done perfectly and served with potato wedges.
For a set meal of entrée, plat and dessert for € 15, the meal was a steal and had us leaving very satisfied and filled.

A beautiful restaurant in Montmartre. Very romantic and best to visit during the week when it’s not too crowded. Very nice service and excellent fish dishes. The scallops were fantastic as was the whole grilled fish. Sadly we were too full to have dessert but the list was very tempting. I ordered the lamb steak which I would not do again — wasn’t nearly as good as the fish dishes which my companions ordered.

Beautiful restaurant with excellent service. Just be advised that this place is firmly on the beaten path. Expect to hear English to your left and your right. This place is a good choice for a night out if you are new to Paris and are feeling cautious in terms of new food and attempting to speak French. I think it’s a little expensive, but it’s in the heart of Monmarte and you won’t get attitude for being a tourist.

Certainly one of the prettiest restaurants (inside and out) we visited during our trip.
We’d seen this restaurant as we walked around Monmartre a few times and finally were able to make it here for an early dinner, but I really need to take more pictures or notes of what we eat, or at least write up the review that night.
I do know that my wife and I both had their steak with ‘french fries’ and it was very good.
I don’t think the quality of beef in France (or Europe) is what it is here in the US. Then again, maybe that’s got something to do with ‘grass fed’ vs corn fed beef as it is here in the US.
Still, the service was terrific, the décor… very fairy tale cottage-​esq (if that’s a word)
Damn! Now what did we have for dessert?

We were very early to the Moulin Rouge show and decided to Unilocal a restaurant. We found this gem three blocks up from the show. I know it’s love easy to just walk across the street to the bars by the moulin rouge but you won’t regret it walking to this place. It had romance, great music, excellent customer service and the food was delicious. My husband and I were greeted and sat right away. The food was cooked to perfection and they were so patient while we looked at the menu. I would definitely come again and visit this place. Did I mention they have free wifi and waiters and waitresses are beyond charming?!

We were so pumped to eat here when we saw the menu — but it was a disaster. I got the duck and my mum had the roasted chicken. Both were way overcooked and hard to chew. We both gave up half-​way through the meal. The mushrooms were very tasty though. The tagliatelle side was the best part of the meal.
We were absolutely bored while waiting for the bill, so we fed some pigeons the leftovers of our bread. The pigeons didn’t even want it. That’s a bad sign, people.
The staff was friendly and amiable, but the brought the wrong bill to the couple seated next to us — there were only 4 active tables, and that seems a little silly to me.
Do yourself a favor and head over to Le Chinon instead.

Came here based on the fact our travel guide said he always wanted to come here, but hasn’t had the chance to do so. It was about a 5 minute walk from our hotel and probably about 10 minute walk from the metro (Place de Clichy stop). Small place inside, and a little too warm, despite they had fans. But it’s also Europe, and I still hadn’t gotten used to not having much air conditioning around.
Anyway, they had 2 prix fixe menus to choose from, so we went with the $ 47 euro option (which included 1 drink from a list, appetizer, entrée, and dessert). We each had champagne for a drink, and for appetizer I had the onion soup and my husband had the escargot. He absolutely loved it (I was not daring enough to try). The onion soup was absolutely amazing. Rather than the traditional french onion soup in the US, where the bread sits on the soup and cheese melted, they had a slice of bread with the cheese melted on top on the side, and in the bowl, the cheese was sitting in the bottom of the bowl, so when you placed your spoon in, there would be a nice mix of onion, broth & cheese on the way up. It was so good that my husband was dipping the bread in the broth as we ate.
For entrees, I had the duck (requested medium) and he had the veal. Unfortunately, both meats were a bit overcooked to either of our liking, but the seasoning, sauce and sides that came along with both were excellent. Due to the overcooked meat, that is why I am not giving this review 5 stars.
However, for dessert, I had the cherry crumble and he had the crème brûlée, which were both excellent. The crumbles were very crunchy and cherries were very sweet. Definitely a great end to a great meal. And considering the price was just over $ 100 USD for the meal, it was well worth it.

What a great find! Our tour guide recommended this restaurant and we sure were happy she did. The location of this restaurant was in the really awesome area of Montmartre, which is the artsy area of Paris. So you can imagine all the cool bars and restaurants that you can find here. Le Basilic was beautiful inside and out and the service was superb. Our waitress could not have been nicer and the food was excellent. My husband and son had the rib eye steak and I had the veal, both were really tasty and the side dishes were as well. I had the cheesy potatoes and it was so good. The desserts and wine were just as good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal with wonderful service in a really cool area. You won’t be disappointed.

Lovely 2 hour lunch on the «Express Menu» but we didn’t mind the time at all. It was wonderful. Warm goat cheese on toast to start and Veal over noodles and the main special of the day with a half bottle of syrah. Romantic atmosphere yet casual. A few tourist but mostly French patrons around us. This place was on my list of restaurants to try thanks to Unilocal and it came through beautifully. 36 Euros plus an extra tip for the excellent service.

Disappointing evening at Le Basilic which we had looked forward to visit after the good reviews here on Unilocal.
We were placed in a small corner by the door where the AC couldn’t reach, thus it was hot and a good few flies were buzzing.
The waitress who greeted us was nice, helpful and very quick, but unfortunately they kept switching between waiters so we had an array of people serving us.
We shared a salad for starters which was basic, but good.
Then the mains — a rubbery duck in a mesh of grey, slimy mushrooms and a red mullet doused in cream sauce and with bland sautéed spinach. Not the delicious French cuisine we had envisioned.
The heat and sucky food made us want to leave as soon as we finished, but we had to wait a really long time for them to acknowledge us and take payment.
Not impressed.

Die Vorspeise war sehr gut. Bei der Hauptspeise war das Fleisch leider kalt. Die Bedienung ist nett und zuvorkommend.
Was gar nicht geht, sind die Toiletten im ersten Stock. Nicht wegen der Treppe, sondern wegen der Sauberkeit.
Naja, ein Besuch war ok, aber nochmals kommen, eher nicht.

Beautiful little restaurant located in a quaint part of town in Paris. Le Basilic offers a nice ambience for a true local Parisian dinner, featuring a prix fixe menu that will still satisfy your taste palette without thinning out your wallet. Built in the early-​eighteenth century, the atmosphere is that of a French cottage — with bowed oak beams lining the ceilings and wooden fixtures throughout. Le Basilic has a friendly staff and warm environment in general. Another nice little gem in Paris.

Le Basilic was one of our favorite meals in Paris. We ordered the cheese fondue to start and devoured it completely. My husband ordered filet Rossini style, with foie gras, and I ordered veal. My veal was not the most amazing veal ever but my husband’s filet and the fondue were delicious.
The restaurant itself has a very cool atmosphere-​dark wood and hidden behind ivy in the middle of Montmartre. We really enjoyed our meal here and would definitely return!

A cozy small place with great atmosphere and nice servers. Really good dining experience for 25 €. They also have reasonably priced wines. Lamb with curry rice was served in a big portion, recommended for hungry visitors. I was absolutely in love with the pain perdu served with ice cream, definitely try it. As I said it is kind of small, so you might want to reserve ahead if you plan to visit it on a weekend evening.

Absolutely splendid. Once wasn’t enough. We ended up making a second trip to monmartre just for this restaurant. Try the escargot. You won’t be disappointed.

A fantastic dining expereince.
The food was exceptional. From the Fondue to the Filet Mignon, our party of 5 tried a variety of the menu and all of us were satisfied. The service was attentive and suggested some great options. We were so full when we got the bill, it was a surprise to see the bill under 150 Euro.
I’m going to recommend this to anyone traveling through Paris.

An excellent three course meal for 25 €? Yes please!
Excellent décor, white tablecloths, and friendly service. Our waitress spoke no English and we were still able to order everything including bottle of wine and sparkling water with no problem. The salad, entrée, and dessert all came out timed perfectly. Their plating skills were top notch and made the food even more appetizing.
Each bite was luscious and the quality for the price cannot be beat. They open at 7:30 p.m. most days and stay open until 10:30 p.m. We were able to score a table without a reservation, but i’d recommend making one during the busy season.

This is the second time that we went in paris (we are italian) and this is the first place where we eat as well as in Italy. The food is divine and the stuff is composed by very funny but professional person.

We went here this evening, we found it on Unilocal!It was SO DELICIOUS. The service was literally the service my husband and I have had so far in Paris and the food was definitely the best we’ve had so far as well. I had the ravioli course, with the appetizer and dessert (great deal) and he had the fillet with the potatoes au gratin.
The staff was the nicest we’ve experienced so far. They had a sense of humor which was nice and they didn’t seem too troubled to try and speak a little English with us which was refreshing. We’re trying to speak a little French, but we don’t speak it quite yet, so it was really nice to be treated well even though we can’t speak French!
I think we will probably have dinner here again tomorrow night, haha it was that good!

Ce restaurant a un charme fou! Un petit coin de tranquillité en plein Paris. Leurs chèvres chauds sont excellents et l’équipe très accueillante. Formule intéressante le midi !

Excelente eleccion la de su formula Midi. Precioso restaurante con buena atención por los camareros. La cocina exquisita. Producto de calidad muy bien cocinado y presentado. Excelente relación calidad precio. Menu de mediodia por unos 15 euros que en Zaragoza costaria de 20 para arriba
Como unicos elementos en contra, es un poco pequeño y el servicio fue un poco más lento de lo que a mi me gusta.

On our first night in Paris got a late start out for dinner so by the time we hit the streets in the Montemarte area all the restaurants packed. I guess because this restaurant didn’t have any outside seating it was not as frequented, But the outside of it looked so charming, we ventured in to the best French food and service that you could possibly want.

Wir waren vorher in anderen Restaurants und wurden enttäuscht.

Ein wirklich uriges und gemuetliches Restaurant, mit viel Flair, angemessenen Preisen und gutem Service.
Der geroestete Camembert war ein Gedicht und auch der Nachtisch sehr lecker.
Die Nudeln ala Romana waren ohne eine auffindbare Olive, aber dafuer mit 3 un-​geniessbaren bzw. kaubaren Tomaten (strunken?).
Das, und die ab und zu aus einem der Obergeschossen niederriesenlde Zigarettenasche verhindern einen fuenften Stern.
Trotzdem sehr empfehlenswert!

Bien à médiocre
Nous y sommes allés avec un couple d’amis, nous avons trouvé le cadre sympathique, l’ambiance chaleureuse. Concernant les vins le sancerre blanc et le sancerre rouge bien pour le prix. Viens ensuite l’heure des choix et du service. Pour le service l’attente entre l’entré et le plat relativement longue 30 minutes. La qualité des plats la terrine de saumon pas mauvaise mais semblait provenir d’une cuisine industrielle sic. Puis vient le tour des plats de résistance trois pavets de boeuf la qualité et la cuisson rien à redire. Le quatrième plat le hachis parmentier de canard baigné dans la graisse la purée mousseline vraiment trés médiocre à éviter, l’assaisonement sur la salade d’accompagnement elle venait d’une bouteille industrielle toute faite «bof». Les desserts tarte tatin pas mauvaise, les crème caramel me faisait pensaient à de l’industriel. En conclusion restaurant ou on doit prendre des plats simples si on veut né pas être déçu dommage. Je réessayerais une dernière fois, mais sans conviction.

Il est temps de rétablir un peu la vérité sur ce restaurant qui n’obtient des critiques dithyrambique sans vraiment que je né comprenne pourquoi.
Certes l’accueil et le service y sont bon, mais c’est bien la seule chose que possède ce restaurant! Ultra touristique, la cuisine n’est vraiment pas exceptionnelle!
Je pense même que face à l’affluence qu’il reçoit, ils ont du faire le choix de certains plats déjà préparés qu’ils n’ont qu’à réchauffer. notamment au niveau des desserts.
Attention je né dis pas non plus que c’est infâme, mais d’autres restaurants pour le même prix dans des zones très touristiques ont la décence de faire de la cuisine maison avec des produits frais.

Sympa et typique
Excellent rapport qualité prix. Accueil et service souriant et chaleureux. Emplacement idéal, tranquille, loin des restaurants plus touristiques et ordinaires de la rue des Abesses. Cuisine classique avec une pointe de raffinement. Un bon moment de détente.

Une jolie adresse
Un décor traditionnel voire «terroir», une atmosphère et un service tendance chic (limite guindé ?), le Basilic offre une cuisine de qualité et abordable, le tout au pied de Montmartre dans un environnement qui se prêtera parfaitement à une merveilleuse promenade digestive.

Une bonne surprise
Une vraie surprise au détour d’une petite place proche de Montmartre ! On se retrouve dans un petit restaurant, plein de charme avec un rapport qualité prix que l’on aimerait retrouver plus souvent. Les plats sont goûteux, bien proportionnés, et dans l’ensemble bien présentés. Une adresse à fréquenter un midi lors d’une balade en amoureux ou entre amis !

Ich hatte bei meinem letzten Parisbesuch das Vergnügen hier zu essen.
Das gewählte Fischgericht war ein Gedicht und auch vom vorangegangenen Salat kann ich nur schwärmen.
Man speist in urgemütlicher, rustikaler aber dennoch eleganter Atmosphäre und auch von der Weinauswahl, wie Weinqualität war ich vollends überzeugt.
Ich komme wieder!

Le service est sympathique, la nourriture bonne, le cadre et la déco très sympa mais les tables sont tellement proches les unes des autres qu’il est difficile d’avoir un conversation sans la partager avec ses voisins… Dommage !

J’ai trouvé le vin très bon, la nourriture excellente fine, mon amie a aussi bcp apprécié, mais le serveur avait oublié notre commande alors pour pouvoir profiter de tout ses mets nous avons dû attendre 30 minutes mais une petite salade de melon, nous a été offert (le café en plus aurait été un geste vraiment apprécié). C’était plus calme et donc sympas un poil cher mais maintenant à Paris pour 40 euros t’as plus rien (parce que les menus sont souvent hors vin).

Un resto ou l’on mange de la bonne cuisine française, le personnel est accueillant et la carte offre un très bon rapport qualité prix.

Une petite merveille de restaurant, trouvé par hasard parce que la façade est jolie, le cadre, traditionnel, est très agréable, le service est parfait, la nourriture excellente et les prix très corrects. Nous sommes arrivés tard pour diner, à la fin du repas nous n’étions plus que deux dans le restaurant, et pourtant le personnel se montrait aimable, cordial, et n’est pas venu une seule fois nous mettre la pression pour qu’on parte, suffisamment rare pour être noté. Note maximale.

Restaurant charmant, par sa situation comme par le décor intérieur. La cuisine est classique et raffinée. Un seul bémol: le service est efficace, mais un peu bruyant! Les serveurs parlent fort entre eux et rigolent ce qui n’est pas forcément adapté à l’environnement. Ce point reste toutefois un détail… En conclusion, je recommande ce restaurant, parfait pour un repas de dimanche en famille.

Meine Frau reservierte zu ihrem 50. Geburtstag im le Basilic den speziellen Tisch in der Ecke. Das klappte natürlich nicht… schon zum zweitenmal nicht! Wir waren angesauert aber blieben trotzdem zum essen. Wir entschieden uns für ein drei Gang Menü. Meine Frau hatte Salat mit warmen Ziegenkäse und danach Lachs auf Spinat — hervorragend ! Ich hatte Hering auf lauwarmen Kartoffelscheiben und anschliessend Lamm Curry mit Reis. Der Hering ausgezeichnet, Das Lamm für mich nicht genießbar…4 grosse, fettige Stücke, teils roh… Das Dessert — dunkle Mousse de Chocholat — wiederum lecker. Preis/​Leistung war ok (23EUR pro Menue). Für die Wiederholte nicht Reservation gab es ein Glas Sekt.

Cadre très agréable mais service laborieux (un samedi soir), il a presque fallu sauter au coup du serveur pour obtenir de l’eau, la moitié de la table sans couvert, l’autre moitié sans serviette ! ¾ d’heure pour les entrées …
Nombreux plats manquants à la carte et plus de pain en cours de repas ! Dommage que le service né suive pas, la cuisine est elle raffinée et pleines de saveurs ! Bémol, certains plats étaient à peine tiède une fois servis !

Très bon restaurant. Exélente cuisine et ambiance. J’adore venir y diner lorsque je suis de passage.

Illusionniste Nous sommes allés au mois de juin un samedi soir au Basilic (si vous regardez bien à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur, vous verrez que cette maison a été reprise sous ce nom… anciennement auberge ou relais).
Une table pour 2, pas trop serré à moins que vous né souhaitiez pas converser avec vos voisins, ça donne l occasion de voir leurs belles assiettes mais, sinon il y a des tables à part, il faut bien tomber ou réserver !
En bref: service aimable voire cool mais sérieux, cadre de type auberge avec poutres, un peu défraîchi (on pourrait se passer de la musique new age pour accompagner le repas…).
Pour cette cuisine traditionnelle: 2 plats de poissons, du bar et de la lotte avec des légumes et tomates, pleurotes, une très belle assiette, bonne cuisson, pas toujours simple pour du poisson !
Aussi, un Sancerre blanc, minéral, fleurs blanches, une petite merveille dont j’ai oublié le nom !
Pour l’addition et bien optez peut-​être pour le menu très abordable mais vous n’aurez pas la possibilité de prendre certains plats tels que ces poissons… le plat est à 20 euros, le menu à 25 euros… mais bon quand on n’aime on né compte pas surtout si c ‘est bon.
Une bonne adresse, honnête, à recommander !

Un petit coin de paradis sur le flanc sud de la butte Montmartre, tel est le basilic ! Ici, accueil chaleureux rime avec plats savoureux ! Certes, la carte n’est pas des plus originales, mais la prestation est honnête, et vaut le détour, ou plutôt l’arrêt !
Le lieu, quand a lui, n’est pas très grand, mais chaleureux. Attention à né pas rater le restaurant en question, enfoui sous le lierre, on pourrait presque passer à côté sans s’en rendre compte !

Le Basilic est un très joli et vieux restaurant du quartier des Abbesses. Situé dans un tout petit immeuble à poutres apparentes et couvert de lierre sur un angle de rue, il confère un certain cachet à tout ce secteur de la rue Lepic. A l’intérieur, déco tout en bois sombre, façon château médiéval, et ambiance plutôt chic et romantique. La nourriture, typiquement française, y est bonne, sans être exceptionnelle. Le midi, formule entrée/​plat/​dessert à 14 €, ça vaut le coup!

Wir haben im Vorfeld (per Email) reserviert, sonst hätten wir keine Chance auf einen Tisch gehabt. Es ging an diesem Abend zu wie im Taubenschlag: ein kommen und gehen bzw. abwimmeln von Leuten, die keine Reservierung hatten.
Die beiden freundlichen Bedienungen (Mann+Frau) hatten den Laden voll im Griff.
In der Speisekarte (franz. Küche) — nur in franz. Sprache verfasst, ist für jeden etwas dabei.
Ein Menü (3 Gänge jeweils frei kombinierbar) kostet 23 Euro und es hat sich gelohnt! Alle Gänge konnten uns geschmacklich (mit frischen Zutaten) überzeugen.
Man kann auch a la carte bestellen.
Die Weinkarte ist übersichtlich und ab knapp über 20 Euro pro Flasche auch preislich O.K.
Das Interieur: alt, gemütlich, puppig, Landhaus-​Stil, viel Holz, krumme Balken.
Auffällig die spitz zulaufende Form des kleinen Gebäudes — links und rechts vom Efeu-​bewachsenen Eingang verläuft eine Straße. Das «spült» natürlich viele Neugierige ins Innere.
Das Basilic eignet sich ausgezeichnet für einen romantischen Abend.
Wir werden bei Gelegenheit definitiv wieder hier essen!

Romantique à souhait !
Le cadre parfait pour une soirée romantique ! C’est déjà beau à l’extérieur, c’est tout aussi charmant à l’intérieur. La carte est assez originale et surtout savoureuse et on y trouve même de très bons vins. A réserver tout de même pour les grandes occasions car il est vrai que c’est un peu cher. Mais un soirée romantique en compagnie d’un homme charmant, ça n’a pas de prix non?

Restaurant romantique du quartier Abbesses
Avec ma femme nous avons été charmés par le décor et par l’accueil et les plats de ce lieu. Certes il y a souvent des touristes étrangers que l’on retrouve dans ce restaurant (il est dur de né pas en trouver dans ce coin de Montmartre/​Abbesses) mais le cadre rustique et limite «intime» se prête bien à une ambiance romantique et les plats ont un prix plutot raisonnable sans être excessif, nous n’avons jamais eu de soucis avec l’accueil, toujours discret, sympa et efficace. Un bon moment à passer à 2 !

Von der Moulin Rouge die Rue Lepic hoch, vorbei am Deux Moulins bis zur Rue des Abbesses und dann links: Das, was wie eine rustikale Herberge auf dem Lande aussieht, ist das Basilic. Haarscharf an den Touristenströmen vorbei (dennoch Reservierung empfehlenswert) bietet dieses gemütliche Restaurant französisch-​provençalische Küche, wundervolle Desserts und klasse Weine. Die Bedienung ist zuvorkommend, und die Tischnachbarn schnell gut bekannt. Und nach dem Mahle lädt der Montmartre zu einem Spaziergang ein — perfekt!
