Le Bruant

Went here with two friends on a Saturday night and the experience was lovely. The staff are very friendly, which isn’t the norm in Paris. I ordered a duck confit and it came with a generous serving of a side salad and roast potatoes. My friends ordered steaks and they loved it. The restaurant is located on a lively street in Montmartre and is a great place to stop for food after exploring this hilly neighborhood of Paris. Also loved that they were playing a marathon of Celine Dion music.

Emplacement touristique mais c’est aussi ce qui fait le charme de Montmartre.
Les plats sont bons rien à redire mais les prix sont un peu chers, on paye le quartier, comme je le sais ça né me dérange pas.
Restau sympa.

I really loved this little café in Montmartre. My wife had eaten here on other times she’d gone to Paris and so we came back. I thought that for the reasonable price, pretty friendly service, English-​speaking staff, and variety of choices, it was one of the best deals in the neighborhood. I had fa special of the day, fish with potatoes and a salad, had a steak and frites, escargot, meat and cheese platter, etc. I don’t drink alcohol and getting water and soda with the meals was no problem. The prices were really reasonable for what you get. I guess you could say some of the meals were kind of small, but they are typical size servings you see in Paris. Definitely would recommend

I don’t know how the staff here does it but they are hard wired for hustle. Even telling us it would be 25 minutes (at 8pm on Valentine’s Day, they were genuinely compassionate that there’d be a delay), we were happily invited to the bar, and treated like family. I dropped a fork, and before my wife could pass me hers, the waiter had one in my hand. The staff are genuinely happy to see you, and ensure that any need is addressed, and the French onion soup (au gratin!) is not to be missed. The mulled wine and gin fizzes were also great at the bar. We’re not even to main plates and we already love this place. So hard.

Just fine for lunch with the kids! I had the lunch formule for about 13 euros and it was nice. Perfectly cooked fish on a bed of veg with a sorrel cream sauce. The kids had sandwiches and shared a plate of frites (not a crumb left). Husband had the salad w/​gizzards, foie gras and smoked duck breast. Two thumbs up. Servers were friendly and endured my bad French. All-​in-​all, a satisfying stop on a chilly day after a walk through (up and down) Montmartre.

Brasserie sympathique où on est sur de trouver son bonheur :)
Le service est chaleureux même si on avait beaucoup attendu avant d’être servis.
Une bonne adresse pour un dîner entre amis!

Un service très convivial et sympatrique pour cette petite brasserie du 18ième qui né paie pas de mine!
Nous avons attendu un peu pour nos plats mais le rapport qualité prix était plutôt bien pour le quartier et le choix est large!
C’est un restaurant parfait pour faire découvrir à un étranger la culture culinaire parisienne ou pour un diner entre amis car tout le monde trouvera son bonheur je vous le garanti!

I agree with another reviewer when I say it was good food, great service, and a nice ambiance. I would give this a higher rating if the food was spectacular, but it was average, although prepared well. We had the curry mussels (needed more salt), the croque Madame and Monsieur (one regular sliced wheat bread which I thought could have been way nicer bread for Paris), and the foie gras (again, served with sliced wheat bread). All were tasty but not out of this world and definitely not worth the trip unless you were in the neighborhood. I have to say service was amazing, and we were very happy customers.

GREAT food, service and the beer was fantastic! We had the entrecôte, pave de rumsteak, and the confit de canard! It was delicious, large portions and reasonable prices. Service is fast, but check your bill. Ask for Marco, Italian dude, he is very nice and can give you some good tips on good local spots to hit up during your Paris visit (no, I’m not Marco). Overall great experience, I recommend and would definitely come back.

Decent. Clean. Quick service. Foods alright. Whats not to like.
I don’t know what everyone else was eating on these reviews to like this place enough to give it 5 stars but I think it was ok and just dandy to pay another visit to.
I had the Croc Madame which came with a hefty portion of salad which was just what I wanted. The dish itself was good. Solid work. The escargot was nice. Can’t go wrong with parsley and garlic and butter.
Over all its a great location and good food.

Not to be missed! Fantastic daily «formule» specials. This is authentic French fare and atmosphere at an impressive price.
The duck fois gras was rich and creamy. The classic steak frites is executed to perfection here. The salmon appetizer was flavorful and the portion sizes were generous. The «formule» menu changes daily and is always served up to perfection.
The wait staff is very friendly and willing to help out in English when they can. This is a favorite on my list and a place to be visited several times a week if you can. Always fresh, always pleasant, always excellent in every way.

3,5 * Pour ce petit restaurant de Montmartre bien sympathique, un peu touristique certes, mais bon on est à Montmartre quoi…
Les trois serveuses sont au top du top, la salle est pleine mais elles sont à bloc et sont très réactives, toujours avec le sourrire et la bonne humeur !
La carte est très variée, le cadre est en adéquation avec le lieu où se trouve le restaurant…
Moule/​crème/​champignons & frites, pile ce dont j’avais envie à ce moment là, c’est parfait !
Si on y passé, on y va, sinon c’est pas grave :)

Je vais probablement aller à contre courant des avis en Français ici et perturber ce qui viendront chercher un avis tranché sur ce restaurant.
Je l’annonce directement: j’adore ce restaurant. Je né suis peut être pas encore assez blasé de Paris et des touristes mais je le trouve vraiment très bien. Le personnel est vraiment très agréable et serviable. Les prix sont plus que corrects pour le quartier (entre 10 et 13 euros pour des moules, une bavette ou un tartare).
Tiens, parlons en du quartier, ce petit coin des Abbesses n’est pas encore vraiment envahis par les touristes et pourtant je l’ai découvert en Juillet. On déjeune souvent en terrasse avec des Parisiens, des vrais, comme à la télé. Le cadre est très agréable, plein de vie, le bistrot a une bonne de tête de bistrot parisien.
Je suis conquis par ce café, j’y amèné systématiquement des amis qui sont à chaque fois conquis.
Je vous encourage à vous faire votre propre opinion. Au pire si vous détestez, vous pourrez toujours aller vous promener au Sacré Coeur à deux pas.

I must echo the remarks of the other reviewers. This is a great café. The daily specials are priced very competitively.
What sets to place apart from the others on the Rue des Abbesses is the kitchen quality and the servers. The dishes we had were the best meals we had for a week in Paris. Bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. The servers were energetic and helpful — so different from the normal waitstaff at such places.
If in the Montmarte or Moulin Rouge-​Pigalle area, this is one of many eateries that are along the Rue from the Abbesses Metro Station.
This is a must try location. The daily specials sell for about € 16.

Excellent little café. I lived right down the road from them and was here almost daily for a week, the staff have to be the friendliest in France, bar none. I think our waitress was Julie — was very very friendly and nice. The coffee, like in all of france is kinda crappy to say it nicely — its a European thing, I’ve come to learn. That aside, the food was good, the service really was superlative. I would def go back.

Un café fantastique !
J’adore cet endroit ! C’était ma quatrième visite en deux voyages à Paris. Le menu est varié et j’aime particulièrement les crêpes repas qui y sont offertes. Les prix sont très peu élevés, le vin est bon, la crème brûlée est succulente et le service est bien. À visiter sans hésitation !

Wir waren eher durch Zufall im Café le Bruant. Das Café wird von zwei Damen betrieben, zur Auswahl steht französische Küche aber auch Burger oder Pasta.
Bemerkenswert fanden wir, dass die Karte sowohl in englisch als auch spanisch oder russisch vorhanden ist. Man kann mit Visa zahlen, die Bedienung ist schnell und freundlich und das Essen ist richtig lecker. Und die Preise für Pariser Verhältnisse echt günstig!
Sollte man mal in der Nähe von Moulin Rouge oder Sacré-​Cœur de Montmartre sein, sollte man das kleine Café auf jedenfall mal aufsuchen. 5 Sterne!

Fantastic little café. Was so good, my family and I went there twice while we were on vacation there back in January 2011. Not sure if she still works there, but if she does, our waitress both times was Fatima and she was also great. Highly recommended. The escargot was out of this world!

BONNE SUPRISE !!! c’est un resto à touriste.
Donc le serveur qui fait genre j’ai 40 de métier, genre mon plat est extraordinaire, mon vin est un délice, prenez un dessert, patati…
Donc le plat était mal cuit, les haricots en boîte degeu, j’ai mangé dans un courant d’air froid, non glacial, dès que quelqu’un rentré dans le resto…
Bref a part si vous n’arrivez plus à marcher !!! (comme moi à ce moment)

Bons points: le service agréable, la déco fait petit bistro parisien, et surtout vu MICHOU sortir d’un taxi devant nous !!! et ça c’est important dans la vie…

Super les moules frites… je peux constater que les versions curry et bleu d’Auvergne sont vraiment à goûter !

I had checked in late into my hotel just down the street in the Montmartre area, and was hungry for a bite. Fortunately, this café, along with others was open at about 12midnight on Saturday. I received really speedy service despite the place being busy. I ate a delicious salmon salad, and some other deep fried cheese dish. The ambiance was great — I sat outdoors, heard a lot of tourists eat nearby, and engaged in a lot of people watching.

Petite brasserie sympa, diner en famille. Plats copieux pour prix classique a Paris pas excessif. Juste la cuisine un peu longuette a sortir les plats mais compense par un service sympa. Pas du tout piège a touristes. A recommander si pas trop pressé.

Brasserie du quartier de Montmartre qui n’a rien d’exceptionnel mais qui a le mérite d’être là et c’est déjà pas mal. On a tendance à oublier nos brasseries traditionnelles, avec leur lot de piliers de bar, de touristes et d’habitants du quartier.
Le service est sympa et simple, l’endroit un peu bruyant comme il se doit mais parfait pour une pause café à Montmartre.
Bön bien sur on vous servira du thé Lipton à 4 euros, oubliez vos petits thés commerce équitable sri lankais.
Il y a une forme de mélancolie dans ces brasseries qui m’angoisse un peu mais si Paris devait se résumer à quelque chose, je pense bien que ca se rapprocherait d’un café comme Le Bruant.

Le Bruant est le restaurant à touristes par excellence ! Ici, on fait tout pour plaire aux américains: nom en référence au chansonnier du début du XXème siècle, déco montmartroise, very french food… Et pour satisfaire le touriste en balade, le café Le Bruant se disperse ! A la carte: crêpes, salades, plats du terroir, moules frites…
J’ai déjeuné deux fois au Bruant. Il s’agit bien d’un attrappe-​touriste pourtant, on y mange pas si mal. Moules-​frites à partir de 10 € 90, confit de canard à 16 €, tartines à partir de 10 €, salades à 10 € 80 environs… Des produits de bonne qualité pour des prix assez corrects pour le quartier.
J’ai aimé la carte pour sa poésie. Les salades portent des noms de chanteurs, plus ou moins liés au quartier: Dalida, Brel, Piaf, Bruant (évidemment) ou encore Gainsbourg (salade, gésiers, magret, foie gras). Les tartines quant à elles font référence à des auteurs tels que Baudelaire, Zola, Proust ou Stendhal…
Mon conseil: Si vous aimez les sensations fortes comme moi, évitez de prendre les moules au bleu d’Auvergne. Plus chères que celles à la crème, elles n’ont guère plus de saveur.

Cocktails formidables
N’ayant pas testé le côté «restaurant» je vous parle ici des formidables cocktails proposés au Bruant… Une carte variée, des cocktails hauts en couleur, et aussi en saveur, ici vous pouvez siroter longuement votre breuvage généreux. A savoir: happy hours sur les cocktails de 17h à 19h, pendant ce temps c’est moitié prix.

Un bar restaurant (français classique) sympa sur le haut de la rue des Abbesses, ça vaut la peine d’être noté ! Eviter les bars/​restos spécial touristes/​bobos d’à côté vous vaudra d’être traité normalement et pas comme un porte-​feuille ambulant :-)
Excellente tarte tatin, parfait bar pour un dernier verre en fin de soirée — à tester à l’heure du dîner

L’aile ou la cuisse !
Mauvais, cra-​cra et pas sympa… Ici on né parle pas cuisine, on parle rentablité. Digne de tout attrape-​touriste peu reluisant. Seul point positif à mon avis: l’emplacement rue des Abesses.
