The service was good, and its location is unbeatable. I would certainly return. The food was OK to good, but then again I ordered some basics and wanted to rest more than eat. It’s a likeable place for resting your paws if you’re experiencing Paris as it should be– on foot. They have a bar and beers on tap. Staff was very good and they are service focused, I did note that. For that I’ll give it a bump from 4 to 5 stars.

Sorry no photos this time but food was delicious. Stopped here yesterday after The Louvre & walking a bit. It was SOHOT& it felt good to sit even though the place(as most!) wasn’t air conditioned). Had a small plate of fresh tomatoes with even fresher mozzarella & olive oil, beautifully presented &SO tasty. Also a fresh fruit smoothie & sparkling water. Steve had a smoked salmon plate & a beer. He really enjoyed it as well. Excellent service too. Highly Recommended

Four of us stopped here for lunch and experienced none of the problems that others have posted about. Service was good. Food was prepared well. Everything was clean. Traditional Parisienne corner café. So, the food was traditional and kinda difficult to screw up. Good club sandwiches and salads.

A random spot by the Louvre that we stepped into since 1) we had to use the bathroom and 2) we were hungry. We ordered our first cheese plate in France that came with cured meat. This was super delicious and for a great price. We also had the goat cheese sandwich which was also delicious. I’d recommend getting the cheese and cured meat plate for sure. Service was not too great hence the minus one star.

Wow, I give this 1 star reluctantly. I made my reservations a week prior and asked for the Window seat for our very special evening. We were seated in the center if the room while a window seat sat empty for more than an hr. when I inquired was told that table is reserved? I spoke to the hostess and was told someone has to be unhappy why should it be them!!! We asked the owner and he said no it’s reserved than he sat and started at us. We should have left but, didn’t want to ruin the special occasion, the rolls were like rocks and the butter ramekin you needed a torch to melt it was too hard to use. The food on a scale 1 – 10 is a 2 at best! The on line menu quotes a price if $ 17.95 for the Red Trout and the specials in the menu says $ 24.95. when i pointed that out to the Asst. Manager Casey, he said that the«summer menu» for another resturant. We googled it with him there, refreshed my phone per his request and his response??? Come back in summer !!! it shouldn’t be there on line. well its safe to say i will not recommend or return! These people are inexcusably rude, the foods over priced and bad!

A 2 inch(5cm) bug crawled out of my salad(salade scandinave) on my second bite. Waiter was also disgusted by the critter, cursed it, killed it, then had me pay in full for my café crème(5.4 euros). When I tried to give him 20 euro and 40 cents for a clean 15 euro return, he refused and took just the 20 bill so he could get rid of carrying 60 cents coins instead of gaining 40 cent coins. I am sorry for such a bad review when I would give 5 stars to any place on the Left Bank where you can be right on the Seine and not in the über touristy Notre Dame-Saint Michel area. This place is the only place that fits the bill for that and I really hate that after visiting numerous times living here for months, I was truly taken back. Enough so that I created my first Unilocal reviewt to make sure others are aware.

Last night, January 29th around 7pm while on vacation my freezing cold 68 year old, english speaking Peruvian mother walked in this place with my cousin while I hungout at Lovers Bridge with my girlfriend. About 20 minutes later my girlfriend and I showed up and my mom told me the waiter said«no English speaking customers» and told them to leave. My mom shrugged it off, ordered two teas and went to use the café’s bathroom. A waitress followed my mom in the bathroom and waited at the door crossed armed giving my poor little mom dirty looks when she came out, then followed her out. As my mom was telling me the story I couldn’t help to notice all the workers pointing and snickering at us not knowing I was staring right at them in their huge decorative mirror on the wall. Here’s the kicker. My cousin might be Hispanic but she lives in France and is fluent in French. She told me the two male workers and the female worker were talking the most smack on us for being American and looking poor. What the fuck? I’ve only been in the place for maybe 90 seconds. They were about 2 feet away from me. After my cousin told me what they said and after hearing what they did to my mom I turned around and let them know I knew what they were saying with a eye full of «fuck you». The waitress ran off, one of the males buried his face in his plate of food but the other male had the balls to step up right to my face and stare me down. Remember, I haven’t said a word yet. He just stepped right up almost nose to nose. So I let him know he was a fucking asshole and gave him the bird and he walked away and said«merci». This place and the people in it is why French people get a bad name with Americans. I’ve been here for 5 days so far and I’ve ran into the same ratio of assholes I’d run into back home in California. Anywhere in the world you visit is going to have its share of pricks, right? But the snobby, stuck up, classless, racist workers at this café and the way they not only treated me but my old sweet Peruvian mom gave all French people a bad name. These three workers are the description you are given of French people before you ever even visit France and that’s not fair to the French population. These three workers shouldn’t have jobs in the service industry. They should be given jobs at abortion clinics so every abortion they handle they’re reminded of what their own parents couldn’t afford. You guys are cunts.

Und was geschah hier in diesem Café?
… Frei nach LULU– 22 November 2013

All of us enjoyed the hot ham sandwiches for lunch — open-faced. All three types were great. The cold ham and cheese sandwich was popular with the kids. Service was good and efficient.

Ah, this is the droid I’m looking for. It took me a while to find this one on here. I went there with my brother last year after visiting The Louvre and before going on a boat tour. Seemed like a nice enough place, and I’d be able to cross eating at an outdoor café in paris off the bucket list. Despite some of the bad reviews on here, I was damn impressed! The waiter was actually patient with us stupid Americans and took the time to explain everything in English. Decided to be adventurous and try some new things, because when am I gonna be in Paris again? I ended up ordering a Rabbit Patee for the app and a salmon lasagna with salad for the entrée. BESTDAMNMEALEVER! It was everything I had hoped for and more! Sure, it was on the pricey side, but you have to expect that at a place like this. The lasagna was so good, I felt bad for eating it all and wanted more to take with me. I think I even ate it prison style, with my arms around it so no one could get at it, it was so good! This place even led me to become a rabbit fan, despite never trying it before. Highly recommended for anyone taking a trip through Paris. Plus, it’s easy to find!

Other than the fact that we ended up at the table directly next to Sam Waterston(see uploaded picture), this place was a miss. The service was pretty terrible. The Chicken Club was served with dark meat, skin on, and globs of fat on the chicken. I had to completely disassemble the sandwich and just eat the tomatoes and lettuce on the bread(both which weren’t fresh either). The pasta bolognese was good, I guess, but not awesome. For a few drinks and these two plates for almost 50E? Pick another Café down the street.

Meh. The lackluster-but-decent reviews and the outstanding location meant we grabbed dinner here on a Wednesday night. The place was fairly empty and we sat in the back of the restaurant. The low lighting and classic feel of the place could mean a totally sexy but not super expensive evening meal if you’re here for a romantic weekend. I had the Berger salad, which was goat cheese on toast on greens and a few piece of tomato. The cheese wasn’t the best quality and the toast was burned. The salad just didn’t have enough… of anything… to impress me. My mom & aunt both had onion soup, which was surprisingly under-salted. They thought the quality of the melty cheese was notable, but it was otherwise super underwhelming. They also had the smoked salmon and fresh cream on toast dish(can’t remember the real name). It was just that– raw smoked salmon laid on toast with a side ramekin of crème fraîche. My red wine was pretty bad. Bottom of the bottle, few days old kind of bad. Presentation was most definitely not an important point here. The food all came looking very office-building cafeteria like, which made the average taste seem even less impressive. My aunt’s favorite dessert is crème brûlée, and since we hadn’t had any yet we decided to stay and try it out. I’ll echo the previous review that their crème brûlée is really quite tasty– it’s vanilla-y and light and has a great consistency. She slammed it and didn’t offer to let us try, so that’s a glowing recommendation. My mom ordered the dessert sampler and it had a tiny one on it so we actually got to taste it, too, but the sugar on ours was simultaneously burned and not totally melted. That’s just a sin. We had to ask for our check twice and then finally go up to the bar to demand it. Service up until that point had been pretty good, but our waiter left after taking our dessert order and the other dudes clearly didn’t care. Really, nothing atrocious happened and it was an ok meal, but the price tag hits you in the gut when you’re generally unimpressed with your experience, even if it is one of the less expensive options in the area.

Its great location drew us to this little café when La Balle au Bond was booked for a private party. Exhausted from strolling many museums, we fell into two comfortable seats inside the café, and were greeted with gracious service. Taking in the attractive turn-of-the-century décor, lots of posters and traditional café tables, and chairs we opted for a planche(plank) of mixed meats and cheeses with bread, and were overwhelmed by the large and delicious assortment, all for only 22 Euros! I also spied a sign for my new favorite wine, Sancerre. Ahhhh! Crisp, light, and refreshing, it was the perfect accompaniement to my traditional French snack. Everyone seemed relaxed in this little café; locals stopped in for a glass, and the very congenial waiter even had a glass after he was off duty. After a week in Paris, I felt so at home here, I opted for a second glass of wine, and watched the world go by, Parisien style!

When simple meats great! Simple place, friendly/fun service(very different from your standard french service which is polite but a little distant). Had no idea i can write about this place… I can say it has been a couple years since my last visit but it is a must stop eery time i am in Paris. A glass of Chablis or a 1664 beer and the best salad in the world. Mesclun greens, warm steamed potatoes, smoked duck breast«bresaola“and mousse de foia gras meltong over the hot potatoes. It doesn’t sound sane or anything special but the flavor combo and the simplicity of it just make this dish even more memorable. Had it first tme several years back and the flavor never left my memories.

We were hungry and this was the first place we came across. Entrees were about 15 – 20 Euro each which was pretty pricey but the meal was good so I can’t complain. Honestly it probably would have gotten 3 stars at first… but then we had dessert!!! *Salmon: Nicely cooked. Served with a salad and pasta(no sauce) and a lemon for the salmon. *Duck breast: My cousin had it and said the sauce was delicious and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. *Side salads on the entrees: Good dressing… very light. *They served us a bottle of Vittel which was 6 Euro… pretty pricey for a bottle of water. *Service was good… they were patient with my attempt at broken French and made small talk — very nice. *And then there was dessert! The crème brûlée there was the best I ever had. It tasted like the burnt part of a roasted marshmallow — THEBESTPARTOFTHEMARSHMALLOW!!! We sat there for awhile trying to figure out what made it so amazingly light yet creamy… worth going to just for the crème brûlée in my opinion.

The food is fine, but… You can speak French, mind your manners, observe local customs and dress code, but no matter… it’s cool to be rude to Americans here. Don’t bother, you will be invisible here.
