Le Clos Bourguignon

Idéalement placé dans le quartier des Théâtres pour certains ou du shopping pour d’autres, ce qui attire dans ce restaurant c’est le style rustique de l’endroit.
Une promesse de déguster de la bonne viande a vite été dissipée. Les plats sont bien présentés, la viande est très bien cuite, certes, mais la qualité est sous le niveau attendu. Dommage. La salade est clairement là pour décorer les assiettes, donc né pensez pas déguster de superbes salades ici.
On vient ici pour passer un super moment entre amis, ou en famille. Les serveurs sont disponibles et fort amusants.

It was great experience. Very friendly. Price is good. No English menu. You have to know what you are ordering. Many locals hang out spot.

Unimpressive. Neither the onion soup nor faux filet had much flavor. The salad was a bit of lettuce and grated carrots with tasteless dressing. Better French fries can be found nearly anywhere. Go elsewhere.

Prompted by Unilocal reviews, we were not disappointed. A great value: although the service was adequate but sparse (one waitress for the entire cozy place) the food was delicious. My wife and I both had the daily special salmon in a bag, (€ 14.5) and it was delicious… a nice salmon filet with what I think was 4 or 5 different colors of sweet peppers julienned and delicately layered on top, and then covered with a wonderful light cream sauce. There was something about «tarragon» in the name of the dish, but I don’t know if that was referring to to peppers, or the sauce (I don’t speak French, and google translate didn’t help this time).
For dessert, I had the profiteroles (€ 7) but since I’m a chocoholic, I asked for it with chocolate ice cream instead of the usual vanilla. I wasn’t starving to begin with, so I couldn’t finish it, but let’s just say that I’m now a witness to chocolate heaven.

In Paris for a week and was looking for some good old fashion country cooking. We had the onion soup which lacked flavor but the beef bourguignon stew was incredible. Definitely a local favorite… lots of activity. If you are looking for a hearty french meal I would recommend trying this place.

CANCEL ALL OTHER RESERVATIONS and run to this place! The food, Service, and experience was outrageous! Had the escargot, french onion soup, house special steak, beef stew, crawfish salad, and chocolate mousse (I’m such a fat kid!). EVERYTHING was excellent. Would recommend this place time and time again!

Grâce à Unilocal je me laisse tenter par ce petit restaurant pour dejeuner.
La salle est petite mais on nous trouve 2 places facilement. Le service est speed mais toujours aimable et souriant du début à la fin.
Dans l’assiette, si vous aimez la viande c’est une très bonne adresse ! La fameuse langue de chat de boeuf est un régal à manger, tellement tendre et goûteuse.
Coté dessert si vous avez encore faim, vous pourrez achever votre productivité avec des profiterolles xxxl ou autre. Les proportions sont très généreuses!
Bref c’est comme à la maison ! Les prix restent corrects.
Seul petit bémol: un peu trop bruyant à mon goût

I very much enjoyed finding this little spot amongst the hustle of the area. The atomosphere is not fancy but comfortable. Lots it locals chatting it up with the bar tender. The place seems family owner and authentic to the region. The woman serving me spoke English but also helped me practice my French. English menu was available. I had the speciality of the house the beef stew. Very honey comfort food. Wine choices were good and the price overall was great. The only downside was the place was so small that outside smokers could still be smelled indoors.

C’est fantastique! I rarely give 5 stars, but this place is everything you’re looking for in your Parisian brasserie search. Small, cute, old fashioned, family joint, with authentic hand made French fare. I had the rabbit special of the day (off the board I pictured). It was great, with that creamy, thick, flavorful sauce that is so quintessentially French. My girlfriend got the steak with foie gras sauce, which was also amazing. We finished with profiteroles, which were also perfect. I think the ice cream was homemade as well, or they’ve found the best supplier in France, either way — the ice cream is amazing. One of our best meals of our 9 days in Paris.
As a disclaimer: if you’re the type of tourist who gets upset or frustrated when you have to struggle through your ignorance of the native language and their ignorance of your tongue, this place will annoy you a bit. They speak minimal English. To me that’s fine, I’m not paying them to be a linguist, I want good food. This is what Google translate is for, but I figure I’d add in the warning. The service is very warm and friendly though so no need to me intimidated!

My wife and I came here based on the reviews. Not at all what we expected. The taste was sub par, the cost just too high when you consider the taste of the food. It was hard to find and not at all worth the walk. The onion soup had less taste than most and the Entrecôte, the most expensive item on the menu, was very hard to chew and tasted like any other low cost stake. I would avoid this place at all cost, there are many bars in the city with less stars and much better food.

I ordered the white wine kir, it was refreshing and sweet. The onion soup is good, but I would not say amazing. Good nonetheless. I also ordered the beef stew, now that was tasty, the meat tastes awesome it was almost like braised ribs in a sauce more than a soupy stew. It is well prepared and the carrots and potatos served with the stew were cooked just right. I do recommend the stew. The crème brûlée is also good, but the serving size is very generous, large enough for two people.

Nice place with English menu. Friendly service, toilette is neat and clean. Food is good.

Wer französische Küche mag, ist hier sehr gut aufgehoben. Es stimmte einfach alles. Freundlicher Service und herzliche Stimmung. Das Essen war sehr schmackhaft und das Mouse au Chocolat gehörte zu den Besten unsere Paris-​Aufenthalts.

Adorable! Greeted by charming staff and although I do not speak this exquisite language, we worked through to a most satisfying experience. Love the feeling that it was very much a locals spot. Being close to my hotel only added to the overall satisfaction.

Found this lovely restaurant thanks to Unilocal and it was charming and delicious. We had the escargots, boeuf bourginon and the porq special of the day. It was my sister’s first time trying escargot so I was nervous but the preparation was delicious and she was a fan. Entrees were a very healthy serving and tasty. Although we don’t speak French, the woman working the dining room was patient with us. From the look of other patrons, this appears to be a neighborhood gem that you might visit for dinner for one or enjoy a wine or spirit after work at their bar. We may go back one more time before this trip is over, next time saving room for dessert!

I love this place! It was definitely worth the trip from the hotel. The waitress speaks mostly French but we got by with some of our French. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant itself had a very homelike vibe. I felt relaxed and able to enjoy my dinner while chitchatting.
The French onion soup was fantastic. One of the best I had. It had the right amount of cheese and wasn’t salty. Just the right amount of flavor. I had the beef stew and it was very good. I believe it was the special of the day so I decided to try that out. It wasn’t too fatty or salty. The flavors were just right and the beef and potatoes blended well together. The crème brulee was something that I am a fan of here. It was burnt to the right amount. The custard was amazing. Unilocaling this makes me crave the crème bruleee. Also, the portions were large which gives you more for your money. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a French meal.

The price is right and the portions are large, but I thought the quality suffered as a result. The atmosphere was cosy, if a bit outdated. This is not a hip restaurant, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an early bird special. My steak tartar was doused with too much egg yolk and seemed to be prepared earlier in the day. But the service was good and friendly. For budget conscious travelers, this is a decent meal. I do not plan to return, however.

J’ai conseillé aux personnes avec qui j’allais dîner ce restaurant en me basant sur les avis Unilocal.Une petite déception…
L’endroit est sans charme, les tableaux au mur font même saigner les yeux; les serveurs font ce qu’ils peuvent car ils sont débordés. Tout le staff est très poli.
La viande était bonne, légèrement en-​dessous du bien cuit que j’avais demandé. Les accompagnements étaient oubliables, en particulier la salade. Une des personnes à ma table a demandé l’origine de la viande, et nous n’avons pu avoir de réponse.
Nous avons commandé une bouteille de rouge qui né doit satisfaire que les touristes.
Les deux personnes avec moi ont commandé un baba au rhum en dessert, qui était plutôt un rhum au baba, vu la quantité d’alcool, qui aurait achevé un allemand.
Note: nous étions assis au fond de la salle, sur une sorte de mezzanine. Il faut absolument éviter la table proche de l’escalier joignant les deux parties de la salle, car la chaise est au bord de l’escalier dans un endroit étriqué, c’est plutôt dangereux.

Je né serais sans doute jamais rentrée dans ce restaurant si je n’avais pas vu les avis dessus. Et pour cause: dans une rue reliant les grands magasins et l’Olympia, on peut se dire (sans doute à raison mais je n’en ai pas testé d’autres dans le quartier) que les restaurants ici sont très chers et/​ou pas de très bonne qualité. Mais ici c’est tout l’inverse !
J’ai tellement aimé qu’après y être allée une première fois, j’y suis retournée trois jours plus tard. (première fois que ça m’arrivait)
Le restaurant né paie pas de mine de l’extérieur: une brasserie «à l’ancienne» (pas les «nouvelles» qui se donnent un air d’ancien, ici les années sont passées et ça se sent). Il y a quelqu’un au bar et une serveuse très dynamique qui connaît très bien son métier. J’y suis allée un vendredi soir, j’avais pris la précaution de réserver, ce qui n’était pas nécessaire (les joies de Paris l’été !).
Je n’avais pas très faim mais j’ai quand même pris une entrée: une soupe à l’oignon. Elle était très bonne et pleine de goût (j’en avais mangé une à midi qui n’avait aucun goût, celle-​ci m’a rassurée). Mon compagnon a pris des oeufs mayo qu’il a aimés.
J’ai ensuite opté pour une salade fermière (émincé de volaille aux herbes de Provence, tomates, oeufs, salade), ce qui né m’arrive quasiment jamais dans un restau mais je n’avais vraiment pas faim. Quand la salade est arrivée, j’ai regretté d’avoir pris une entrée (ou d’avoir trop mangé à midi). Elle est grande, et on né rigole pas ici sur la quantité d’émincés de volaille. J’ai eu du mal à terminer mais ça en valait la peine. Mon compagnon avait pris un faux filet qu’il a trouvé très bon et qui est servi avec des frites maison excellentes et un peu de salade. Plus de place dans nos ventres pour les desserts mais cela a été réparé le lundi suivant: D. Au total, on en a eu pour un peu plus de 30 euros pour nous deux.
Le lundi, deuxième essai. Nous avons tous les deux pris une «formule rapide» à 13,50 euros avec oeufs mayo ou assiette de saucisse sèche en entrée et bavette grillée ou escalope de volaille en plat. A nous deux, nous avons choisi les quatre plats proposés. Tout était encore une fois très bon, et leurs frites sont définitivement parmi les meilleurs que j’ai mangées. Puis nous avons pris des desserts: une mousse au chocolat et une tarte tatin. Là aussi tout était très bon, et fait maison :). Encore une fois, la serveuse (différente de la première que j’avais vu le vendredi soir) était très dynamique et connaissait très bien son métier.
Je valide ton opinion pour ce restaurant Unilocal et le conseille à mon tour !
(Ce n’est pas un très grand argument à mes yeux mais il fait partie des restau préférés de Laurent Gerra (il le dit dans un article de presse affiché + il y a une photo de lui avec un cuisinier). Je crois que Henri Salvador aussi l’appréciait (mais ce n’est pas exposé clairement dans le restaurant).)

The onion soup was sort of like what you’d have at Petit Four on Sunset Strip. It had a gratin cheese topping. The escargot was plentiful and was very flavorful, just slightly chewy. They are snails after all.
The main courses we had were some duck thing which we couldn’t make out. The dish was composed of spherical duck protein, maybe they were large duck testes. I’m not sure. But it was good just uncertain of its composition. The sauce was good.
The entrecôte had a great flavor but was chewy. It wasn’t butchered enough for me, removing the sinewy parts of it would have been nice. I had to do most the butchering on my plate which thankfully I am capable of doing.
We didn’t have dessert because the meals were very hearty.
The reason I can’t give this place four stars is because of the annoying habit of Parisian restaurants allowing their waitstaff to take breaks in the middle of a service to go outside to grab a smoke. The waitress comes back inside smelling of smoke and continues the service. This is not something limited to this restaurant and if you read other reviews of mine, you’ll see similar comments. But this stupidness needs to stop. Smoking is not conducive to a pleasant gustatory experience. I don’t want to smell that in the middle of my meal.
How I made it through the 1980s with everyone smoking in restaurants I have no idea. But Jesus Christ if they ever allow this shit to happen again, I will stop eating altogether. It just amazes me that an intelligent and educated populace like that of Paris’ continues to habitually smoke.
It didn’t ruin my meal but it definitely is a turn off.
My final recommendation is to go there and enjoy your meal, if you’re in the area. I wouldn’t go out of my way though to find this restaurant.

My wife and I visited here on our honeymoon in January of 2013. The weather was frigid and very snowy which made getting around difficult but our visit was made much more enjoyable by our dinner here. We stopped in for dinner to learn that no tables were available. We made reservations for a tad later in the evening and ran off to The Hard Rock Café to pick up some souvenirs for family. Once back, we were greeted warmly and the dinner with everything from the warm French onion soup to a beautiful steak and potato meal with an amazing light salad was incredible. This brasserie is very cozy and the people were cheerful giving it a wonderful ambience! Highly recommended!

J’adore! Définitivement une bonne adresse pour manger des plats de viande, faits maison, avec des bons produits, et pas trop chers. Franchement, dans le quartier (opéra/​grands magasins), ça vaut de l’or. Le service est sympa, et l’ambiance très conviviale. Mieux vaut aimer la viande et réserver à l’avance si on est nombreux.
Seule chose: c’est un peu gras, mais après, c’est la nature des plats qui veut ça…

Out of all the brasseries I visited in Paris this one had the most character. It wasn’t the most fancy. It wasn’t the most expensive. It wasn’t even my most memorable. It just had real authentic character. True grit.
By character, I mean the interior had lots of red velvet material on the walls and seating (which had a few holes in it). The lamps and lamp shades looked time warped from the 1890’s. The whole interior was decorated like an old Victorian brothel. Not that there’s anything wrong with that :-)
My food here could best be described as good French «comfort food.» What I mean is my duck entrée was a little bit greasy, but my portion size was large and filling. I walked away stuffed and didn’t have any room for dessert.
By the way, this brasserie is located in the opera district of Paris. It’s not too far from the Saint Lazare train station and the Printemps store.

Une nouvelle fois, ce bistro de quartier a tenu toutes ses promesses. Connu pour la qualité de la viande servie, nous avons testé cette fois-​ci la «langue de chat de boeuf», morceau de boeuf que je découvrais pour la première fois. Coeur de rumsteck, ce morceau est sans gras, tendre et goûteux. Un régal. C’est l’un des rares restaurants à servir ce morceau et les clients le savent… L’entrecôte à la fleur de sel est très belle et tout aussi tendre. Une salade jardinière (salade caesar en fait) a cette qualité que vous né mangez pas que de la salade verte comme c’est le cas dans beaucoup de restaurant. Vous en avez très peu mais les morceaux de poulet grillé sont bien présents! Les desserts sont faits maison et complètent parfaitement ces plats. L’ensemble arrosé par un Brouilly en pichet et vous passez une très bonne soirée d’autant plus que le service est efficace, aimable et disponible. Comptez 25 €/​pers ce qui est «donné» par rapport à la qualité et quantité des plats et à sa localisation

Un must de la cuisine Française, pour tous les goûts et tous les gourmands. Sachez que les plats sont copieux, la qualité extraordinaire; attention à né pas tomber ‘accros” .
Vous pouvez y aller en famille, vous serez bien reçu, c’est d’ailleurs comme une grande famille. Je né connais pas le chef de cuisine, mais «Respect «pour votre travail.

Petit troquet convivial avec les habitués au comptoir. Très bon plats et pas trop chers (il est préférable d’aimer la viande). S’il on veut manger à table, la réservation est nécessaire. Le service est sympathique. En bref, on passé un bon moment, un petit peu de province à Paris.

Bön petit bistrot pas trop cher! Excellente côte de bœuf. Pas 5 étoile car pas assez de choix et les table sont vraiment trop serrée.

Très bon rapport qualité /​prix, service et ambiance symphatique. Un endroit typique et plein de vie idéal pour un dîner improvisé après une petite pièce à la comédie Caumartin juste à côté. Petits bémols: un peu d’attente avant d’être placé, du bruit… la rançon du succès.

Les plats sont excellents. C’est de la bonne cuisine traditionnelle et les portions sont plus que correctes. Service rapide. Pensez à réserver!

Au top de la viande !
Très bonne adresse pour les amateurs de viande (la langue de chat de boeuf est génialissime !) à un rapport qualité/​prix exceptionnel pour Paris et avec un accueil qui donne envie d’y retourner encore et encore !

Il était relativement tard (22h), et une première brasserie dans le quartier né m’avait pas inspirée plus que cela.
C’est en traversant la rue Caumartin pour rejoindre le boulevard des Capucines que nous sommes passé devant le Clos Bourguignon.
Il était plein, les gens avaient l’air souriant, les serveuses atypiques mais énergiques ! et les assiettes pleines de bonnes choses.
à peine entrés, une serveuse nous trouve une table dans le fond, à coté de quatre joyeux drilles qui terminaient le repas avec une bouteille offerte par le patron avant d’enchaîner sur café — digeos /​cocktails, et un dernier pour la route !
Le cadre est la quintessence même de la brasserie parisienne, un décor un peu vieillot, quelques affiches, des miroirs piqués, du brouhaha, un bazar ambiant organisé, des assiettes pleines et vides qui croisent bouteilles et verres.
La carte a elle seule illustre l’ensemble, harengs, oeufs mayo, pâté, boeuf — patates, crème brûlée, profiteroles !
En ce qui me concerne :
Cote de boeuf, vraiment grosse, vraiment délicieuse, vraiment patate — salade, vraiment 17e !
Vin rouge qui allait bien mais dont j’ai oublié l’étiquette …
profiteroles il y a profiteroles je prends, profiteroles je reprendrai.
Bref, un vrai coup de mon coeur d’amoureux des Brasseries parisiennes, un peu vieille dans le fond et la forme, un peu pas aimable, un peu (…) lourde, un peu tard, un peu, beaucoup, passionnément Paris by night entre théâtre et ballade au milieu des chef d’oeuvres d’Haussmann et la Seine.

très bon restaurant les plats sont excellents et le personnel très sympa. bises a yvonne et Martine les serveuses du soir. malheureusement Louis le patron est hospitalisé depuis février 2011 et l établissement risqué d être vendu. pourvu qu’il reste avec les mêmes plats!! courage Louis on pense a toi. depuis mon dernier avis Louis le patron est en maison de retraite pour raison de santé. après une période triste due au comportement du gérant, l établissement vient d être racheté par un jeune couple. la déco le cuisto les serveuses restent ils veulent garder l esprit que Louis a imposé et c est génia. revenez manger accueil excellent prix très corrects et repas super.

Un resto hors du temps
On n’y va pas pour le cadre. On y irait plutôt pour sa viande (l’une des meilleures de Paris). Et on y revient pour son accueil. Attention, il est préférable de réserver.

Convivial et peu cher
Un endroit où les habitués du quartier se retrouvent, plats de viande très bon marché et bien garnis, qualité de la viande ¹⁷⁄₂₀. Barman professionnel et détendu. Il faut réserver la veille une table c’est impératif sinon 30 mn d’attente mini ! Un peu buillant mais cela fait partie du charme de ces bistrots typiquement parisiens.

Ce restaurant est une véritable institution à Paris. Les amateurs de bistro et de bonne viande le connaissent.
C’est un vrai melting pot de gens différents: le staff, rustre mais gentil, on a l’impression qu’ils sont restés «à l’ancienne», les clients, jeunes cadres du quartier ou loulous qui connaissent le quartier comme leur poche! Tout se mélange et c’est agréable à voir…
Ici, c’est un bistro, on attendra pas des heures que vous vous repoudriez le nez, il faut pas être sensible, ils sont vraiment rustres mais c’est là tout le charme de ce restaurant!!!

Petit resto génial !!! bon rapport qualité prix, produits frais, bien présentés, quantités plus que raisonnables.
L’ambiance est très conviviale, les personnes qui y travaillent sont toujours souriantes, disponibles enfin bref, je né vais pas faire toute la liste aussi non demain j’y serais encore… !!
C’est vraiment excellent.
