This was the first place I went to in Paris after we arrived in the city from the airport. I was hungry, still jetlagged, and tired. The place next to this one, the Triomphe Café, didn’t have an appetizing menu, but this place was not much more appetizing in reality, either. My friend and I both ordered croque madame sandwiches, and we were both underwhelmed. Mine was literaly a plain slice of chicken between two slices of white bread. Each of us also had salad with dressing that tasted like mayo, and I think we might’ve gotten fries. Prices are high for such sub-par food. Environment was acceptable. We sat outside where there’s a partial view of L’Arc de Triomphe, which was gorgeous. It was also hot, so I started to burn up a little bit. Service was good. Our waitress spoke English well. There were only a few times when things were lost in translation and took a little longer than usual to clear up. It was interesting to be in a country where English is not the main language. Whenever I go to China, I’m always with my parents, so they do most of the talking, and Mandarin is their first language, so it isn’t weird to them. I studied French in high school for four years, but nowhere near fluency, and it has been a while since high school, so you can imagine how much French I retained(only un peu). Overall, 2 stars is more than generous for this place. I learned that any food place near a major tourist attraction will be like this.

Bonne terrasse et bon quartier pour déjeuner. Service rapide et neutre. Carte classique pour un bistro français. Ce n’est pas de la grande gastronomie mais les prix sont raisonnables et le service est rapide.

The lady got the Ham, Cheese and Mushroom omelet which was very good, I got the Roasted Chicken also good but a bit dry.

My wife and I came in at around 8:30pm after a long walk along Champs Élysées. I ordered roasted chicken while my wife ordered salad with prawn. When the orders came in, the chicken came out to be as huge as turkey and the supposedly prawns in the salad were tiny shrimps. They have big chickens and small prawns here! Ha ha ha! The taste was fine! We would definitely come back. The waiters were accommodating too!

We were in the area visiting the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and decided to drop by Le Cristal. The food here was very basic(I think it’s because it’s located right in tourist-land) lol. I ordered a Croque Madame sandwich and Escargot, and the Mister ordered Foie Gras which came with a side of two white toasts. Nothing stood out to us, it was very average and tasted just A-OK. The service was actually good, our server spoke English and was very friendly, not snooty at all.
