I love this restaurant. I stayed at the Renaissance Le Parc Trocadero and one night we did not have reservations for dinner at any restaurant so we asked Concierge at the hotel to recommend a nice French restaurant walking distance from the hotel. Oh my… what an excellent choice! The owner Gregory was simply the best… he took the time to explain the menu to us and made some recommendations on dishes based on what he told him we liked. Maxim was our waiter like the owner he was very friendly and amusing! The appetizer can’t remember the name of it on the menu as it was all in French(sorry) but forget the name it was sooooooo good! The entrée we had the veal and the dessert was a puffed pastry with chocolate, vanilla filing and topped with whipped cream. So I was skeptical to order it as I am not a chocolate lover but I did not leave a crumb on the plate it was delicious. It was sufficient for 2 people. The restaurant is very small and intimate so if you are not someone who like to be sitting close to other guests then you would not like this restaurant but the service and the food superseded all that for me. I felt like I was a long lost family member of the owner… I would certainly dine here again when I go back to Paris. Love, love, love, Le Petit Retro… big shout out to Gregory the owner!!!

I absolutely love this place. We stumbled in here after dinner one night for a night cap and fell in love. The ambiance with the music and décor completely transports you back in time to Paris in the 1920s. The drinks were wonderful, but it’s so much more.

great food, typical french restaurant. The only thing is that the service is a bit slow, but the whole experience(design, music, waiters) makes the wait go away.

What a hidden little gem of beautiful interior design. I liked Le Petit Retro and have to disagree with all of the terrible reviews on the service here(mostly written by American tourists it seems). We came across this spot by chance just walking around the 16th and decided to give the place a try becuase it was just so incredibly beautiful inside. We only had a couple of appetizers and some wine but everything was delicious and the service was quite good and friendly even though we didn’t reserve in advance or order a full meal. A few previous revierers complained that the menus here were only available in Frnech(which is completely normal seeing as Paris is located INFRANCE) but anyways the waiters noticed us speaking English with each-other and offered us an English menu which was not necessary(my boyfriend and I are from Montréal so we speak French) but welcoming nonetheless. This place is GORGEOUS inside(if you like art nouveau) and they play only old music(Piaf, Ella & Satchmo etc.) which would be pretty corny if it weren’t for the fact that Le Petit Retro is so over-the-top classic French décor, service, food and vibe that it just feels right like they are completely owning it. I have a feeling that if you are wearing a fanny pack, white sport socks and dockers, and can’t speak a word of French, they might treat you like the cheesy American tourist that you are, but if you are a normal low key person that has at least makes an effort to communicate in the language of the country you are in, then you will be treated with complete respect. I’d go back anytime.

Very pleasing décor. The service was wonderful. And the food was absolutely fantastic. Sauces were great. meat and vegetables were great. dessert was absolutely fantastic. The only reason it is getting four stars instead of five stars is upon our second visit the file of beef entrée the cut of meat shouldn’t have been served. It was grizzly and overcooked and tough. The sauce with it was great but that piece of meat should have been discarded. Other than that it was an absolutely wonderful experience each time we’ve been.

The service was horrible! Not American friendly at all, they do have an english menu, but we where treated like garbage we had to ask multiple times for some water while the table next to us was receiving excellent service. The food was average. Do not come to this restaurant me and the wife felt very disrespected.

STAYAWAY! I couldn’t believe the experience I had at this restaurant. If you go, please heed my warning and check your bill! I have never had an experience before where I felt so taken advantage of for being an American or tourist. I am very well traveled and half way expect some of this in Paris, but my previous experiences over the years proved me wrong, UNTIL this place. The entrée was fantastic, the wine was good, the plat was duck and it was terrible, the desert was an éclair for 2 and was heaven on a plate. All ruined when I got the bill & questioned an item on the bill only to have it return with the charge in question removed and another higher charge added. WHAT??? Well we were 4 people and only ordered a 3 course meal(35 €) and a 2 course meal(30 €). The dessert with the meals were for 2 people, but since we were 4 people eating 2 eclairs they decided we should pay for another éclair(20 €). No problem, if they told us this when we ordered or had the extra person charge noted in the menu. I argued the extra charge(the new one) and they had no idea what my issue was with paying for a desert that clearly states for 2 people but does not list a surcharge for 2 people splitting it. I asked if one person ordered if they would only give them half an éclair(logical, right??) and they said«no» that they would get a whole one… so what is the issue? You wanted us to order 2 of the entrée/plat and then split a desert? For our guests, this was their first meal in Paris on their first trip to Europe… needless to say, they are not fond of France. Hoping the rest of the trip shows the the wonders of Paris and Italy and that this experience will escape their memories and they remember the rest and not THIS experience. I think this is my first 1-star review. Our bill totaled 100 €(they finally conceded and removed the 20 € éclair after threatening to call the police &3 different people arguing with me for quite some time). Our hotel recommended this place; I hope they stop because this place does not deserve positive recommendations(especially from a high end hotel). Blah! ***TERRIBLEEXPERIENCE!!!****

The concierge at our hotel recommended this place for dinner, despite having very little time before we had to run to catch a train. The staff, knowing we were in a rush, took care of us and got us great food quickly, meaning we didn’t have to rush through our meal. The old-style veal stew with spring vegetables & cream was delicious.

First sit down dining experience in Paris, and my husband and I loved it! Our waiter was friendly and patient despite our complete lack of French. Quaint and intimate setting. A little pricey, but left feeling very satisfied.

Been here a few times and always enjoy. Seems to me this would be just how one imagines a Parisian brasserie with its tiled walls, old bar(and coffee machine) and tables in every nook and cranny. Menu off the blackboard is good value(€ 31⁄36) and my wife enjoyed the filet de bar off that while I had kidneys from the main menu. Sharing starter and dessert with a decent bottle of wine brought us to € 96. Service can be a little quick and it does get warm in there, but overall good value for money. Note only open Mon-Fri

The décor seemed to be from an older period with decorative floor to ceiling tiles and an ornate chandelier, and the food seemed to belong there as they are pretty bland. The scallops, although seared nicely and served with caviar, was served with a beurre blanc that needed more salt and the presentation was too simple for the price I paid. My wife had the duck liver scallopini, which was served on what looked like French toast sticks; overly sweet and spiced that didn’t go well with the liver, and the pasta was limp and under dressed. The fish was served with some sauce that looked like BBQ sauce, but was bitter and unpleasant.

This little restaurant is lovely to look at, the service is friendly and non-intrusive and the food is pure comfort. We ate here on the recommendation of the concierge at our hotel, which is nearby. This felt like such a truly authentic Paris experience. On the starters menu, there is a poached egg in chorizo cream that was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. My husband an I also had the blood sausage, which was wonderfully prepared in a flaky pastry with potatoes and apple wedges. The cote de beouf was huge, with lovely mashed potatoes and a sauce to pour over the meat. It was completely delicious and a wonderful dish to have on a rainy Paris evening with a bottle of wine. Crème Brûlée for dessert put us over the top in both calories and pleasure. We will not soon forget our evening at this gem of a neighborhood restaurant.

We love this place. We’re biased as it’s one of the first places we ate when we moved to Paris and the art deco interior, lovely little bar, and kind service won us over. When you first move to Paris the food here will blow you away. You will swoon and think you’ve died and gone to heaven. And then slowly over the years your palate will get more refined and you’ll realize they are stable, steady, proper French meals. Nothing terribly exciting but always a good meal. If you’re in the 16th on a cold or blustery night it’s a great, charming place to eat dinner. Stick with the chalkboard menu if you can, they often get a little more inventive there. Last time they had a lovely venison filet which was superb.

J’adore cet endroit.
