Le Régent

After travelling around Paris all day, I just wanted to sit down and eat. There didn’t appear to still be a lot of places open on the street that we were staying on so we opted for Le Regent. It is directly across the street from the Cadet metro station.
We were greeted kindly by the host who took our drink order and gave us a few minutes to look the menu over. We were seated inside but the room is surrounded by glass, so you can see the people on the street passing by and still feel like you’re in the midst of Paris. The waitstaff were nice & were even pretty patient although we didn’t speak much french. I ordered the Italianissima pizza (buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, arugula, pesto) and my sister got a simple four cheese fettuccini. After just coming from Italy, for some reason I thought the pizzas would be a bit smaller in France. Alas, my pizza was not and it was then that I realized I should have ordered something a bit more light. Anyway, it was really delicious and fresh tasting. The crust was done just right. Pizza crusts tend to get a bit damp when there are a lot of fresh tomatoes and moist mozzarella on it, but it didn’t bother me at all. I could still pick up the slices without it totally bending to my will.
Overall, it was a wonderful way to relax at night in Paris. The waitstaff didn’t speak much and let us enjoy our food which I really like, rather than be pestered the entire time as to whether I need more. I’d rather just call a waiter when I need something. They have enough to do as it is. The meal was also very reasonably prices. I would say though that if you’re looking for more authentic Parisian cuisine, you may want to look elsewhere. If you’re looking for somewhere to just sit, eat, drink, and relax, Le Regent is the place.

We stopped in late in a Sunday night and were famished after a day of walking. Out hotel was close by and we wanted to stop somewhere close. Had two large beers and a pizza which came to28 euros so not too bad. The pizza was good but a little soggy. The service was great. Good place for a late night snack!
