Wonderful experience! My wife and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary here. We made our reservation through (recommended), and showed up in time. The staff were most gracious, even accepting my terrible french! Our waitress helped us choose a wine, and even helped out my wife choose her appetizer/main(being vegetarian). The food: wow! One note of warning: the menu is small(5 appetizers, 5 mains and maybe 5 desserts), but to be honest, I think most reataurants’ menus are too big and most suffer from it! My appetizer, paleron with avocado was delicious. My wife ordered the burrata: good, but we’ve had better. However, the mains were switched: I had a tasty though simple lamb chop, while my wife had an incredible fish(not sure what type). For dessert we had a poached pear covered in chocolate — to die for! If you’re looking for a great restaurant in the Oberkampf area, please give this restaurant a go!

Une belle adresse, beaucoup d’effort pour reproduire un étalage rustique et pittoresque, au cœur de Paris. De bonnes bouteilles, une belle palette.

Wow, this place is really great! Definitely off the beaten path as we found it on la fourchette which boasts great reviews and does not disappoint. The food was really impressive! Not only the outstanding quality but the portions were pretty massive for french standards. I actually couldn’t finish my meal. The halibut app is a must, very well done and nicely presented but again, a but large. For my main I had the filet of turbot which was light and flaky and drizzled in a really tasty basil and citrus sauce. My boyfriend had the faux Argentinian filet which was really one of the best cuts of meat I’ve had in a long time… and again, the portion was incredible. The other cool thing to note is the wine sitch. They don’t have a menu so you browse the wines on display and select that way. We chose a 2006 Bordeaux that was really great! And because we made out reservation on fourchette, we had 30% off which was just the cherry on top to a perfect meal.

A restaurant with tons of hype(various blogs) and yet I felt a little let down by the overall experience. I think after living in France for the last 7 years, I can say that I know a thing or 2 about good French food. I had such high expectations for this place and was left a bit disappointed. First, it was difficult to get a table at this place without reservations the first time. So the 2nd time around I made sure to get reservations and went here on Valentines day. The ambiance of this place is romantic and a bit dressy(just a but, not to much). The inside of the restaurant is very well lit, lovey tables, and a great selection of wines. I ordered a steak with pepper sauce and the side it came with was potatoes. I was truly expecting that such a nice place would have better food presentation, but no. When my plate arrived, I could barley find my steak because it was drenched in pepper sauce. The steak was cooked well, but the amount of sauce was overwhelming and took the taste away from the steak. The potatoes here were very bland and not seasoned at all. Perhaps if I would of tried something a little bit different off the menu I would of been a little more satisfied. I cant say this place is bad because its not. The food here is good, but it’s not worth the high price. You can find MUCH better in Paris. Overall, this place is good basic French food with a high cost and excellent wine list. Pros: –Nice interior –Good basic French food –Great wine list –Good neighborhood(lots of bars to go to after or before) Cons: –Very pricey when you can find better –Service is just average Great place to go if you have the budget and want to be your own judge about this place. Not so great if want good French food and don’t want to pay an arm to have it.
