As with all journeys we research reviews and assume an average to base our decision on… In this case it was an error, as the Hotel/Bar ownership and layout has changed drastically. The Restaurant is now separated by a wall and under different ownership and currently empty, being Refurbished. This meant no meals or even drinks at the Hotel. With no drinking facilities in the rooms it means everything is off site! We had the 4th room, which had all the charm described, but poor lighting and single beds! Please be ready for a climb with your cases, as there is no lift and the journey is up a narrow wooden staircase. The location is great, but given the total lack of facilities, we will pay a little more for a better product on our next trip to this wonderful City.

My husband and I stayed here when we visited Paris. This is a really adorable & romantic hotel that is in a perfect location right by Notre Dame. The cost is reasonable for the area as well. The area surrounding the hotel has a lot of great restaurants and boutiques to shop around in. Our double room overlooked the Notre Dame through our window– which we had requested. Very nice room and bathroom(shabby chic). As we wanted a view our room was towards the top(it’s a staircase that spirals up) so if you have difficulty climbing stairs request a room on a lower level so you don’t have to hike up and down to your room daily. I did not mind though as I enjoyed the beautiful view of Notre Dame. They give you breakfast every morning in their hotel restaurant downstairs which gives you freshly squeezed orange juice, pastries, croissants, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, teas, coffee’s depending on what they have that day. It is served in a café fashion and brought to your table which is very nice and relaxing. The hotel restaurant below is also open for lunch and dinner. We went for dinner one night and the food was fantastic! The portions absolutely huge and such a nice outside eating area if you choose to eat outside(also in door seating available). We opted for the set menu and my husband got a duck dish and me a vegetarian tagine which was huge! The starters and desserts were equally lovely. Highly recommend this hotel on all levels. It’s unique and romantic.

I almost don’t want to review this place because I don’t want it to get too crowded! I loved my stay at Les Degres… Maria was helpful and courteous and helped make my stay all the better. I started out in a double room… very stereotypically French with beamed ceilings and the double doored window overlooking the amazing little street. I wanted to lean out and yell«Bonjour Paris!!!» The second 2 nights I was in the single room just across the hall. No street view, and definitely smaller… but it was my favorite! The bathroom had pebble tiling on the floor and in the shower… and the room was just quaint and homey. There was a window overlooking a courtyard… you could hear some noise from the kitchen staff and the other businesses that fronted the courtyard, but it all ended early enough and wasn’t too bad. There was also a wee bit of cigarette smoke that wafted up… but again, nothing horrible(plus French cigarettes even smell better than US ones!). The best part? From the smaller room… I was serenaded by the bells of Notre Dame… I still miss them… and except for the lack of a kitchen in the land of amazing fresh food… this IS the place I plan to stay whenever I’m in Paris!

Located at the steps of the Notre dame in a charming old quarter, this hotel was a bit of a disappointment to me: the room was extremely small — even by Paris standards. The bathroom had been revamped recently. There is also no proper breakfast room: you eat in the restaurant downstairs. The restaurant offers run-of-the-mill French fare — the sort Americans swoon about.
