The food here tries very hard to be innovative as it mixes some japanese cooking ingredient cooking style with the french but the result is not all that exciting. We came here on a Saturday night with reservations and was seated in a pretty dingy looking environment. Just as the décor, the drinks offering is pretty bare bones as well. A lot of wine selections and some apéritif — nothing else. We opted for two glasses of wine and then the 39EUR menu that comes with a starter, main, and dessert. The lightly seared daurade sashimi starter would have it been okay if it wasn’t on top of raw brussel sprouts were lemoney flavour. I got a rabbit soup that tasted pretty asian with asian nuts and fruits but no rabbit that can be seen. For mains, my compte of pork seemed like it was full of root vegetables my mom couldn’t use and chopped it all up in pot, which would have been fine if it didn’t have mussels and sea foam on it. Pork and sea foam = weird. And then I was given a bowl of potatoes purée for that dish. I think the only missing weird side that could complete this dish is a plate of of onions and seaweed. My boyfriend’s calamari risotto was slightly more pleasant with the risotto stuffed in a giant calamari, but it didnt taste like anything special. For dessert, the matcha tiramisu was not tiramisu at all but some kinda we weird raspberry cake with matcha ice cream. And we got a sponge cake that was drenched in sugar and rum. The service is inconsistent as well, with the servers constantly coming to take away your plate before you are done. People are nice, but I didn’t walk away feeling like having had a pleasant experience.

This place was great. 5 days in Paris, and ate a lot of good food, but this was the highlight. We went here for lunch on the last day. Seasonal menu, interesting drinks(pear cider from Normandy, a Loire Valley beer). The highlight of the meal was a rabbit parmentier, with celery root purée instead of potatoes, and with a cocoa bean sauce. Amazing. A great starter of sea bass sashimi, a wild boar pâté with pickled veggies, not just cornichons – a nice attention to detail. Delicious.

This restaurant is hidden away from the busy market next block over but it’s definitely worth looking for. It’s a clean modern take on French cuisine with a Japanese touch to it. Everything we ordered was delicious from start to finish. The server was very sweet, taking her time to translate the menu and to answer all our questions. I was able to try a cold asparagus soup which was so refreshing on a hot day, and I got the squid ratatouille that I devoured and secretly didn’t want to share with anyone. I also ordered a sea bass dish that was delicious and ended the meal with fresh strawberries and ice cream. I can’t wait to go back here when I’m back in town.

Un peu décevant, un brin frime dans l’assiette, on préférerait une cuisine plus authentique et un service plus stylé. Pas donné non plus.

Unpretentious yet welcoming and cosy enough atmosphere… The real deal is in your plate though. I very much enjoyed the starters, but count on the main courses to stop you in your tracks. I enjoyed some of the best sweetbreads dish ever: it was a very generous portion, subtle, cooked to perfection, and neither tasted salty nor saucy. The service was attentive, kind, and smiley. Understated Japanese perfection cloaked under a delicious French meal. 5* :)

We loved this place! Everything was just perfect! We called two days in advance, hoping to get a table at this hot Paris restaurant during a last-minute trip. They said they could accommodate us at the bar, but then called to say they could get us a table. Super! The restaurant itself is super small and super cute — maybe 10 tables. It is my idea dining experience — casual enough so it doesn’t feel stuffy and yet the food is of a top top quality. They have a set menu — 3 courses + an amuse bouche for 38EUR. Amazing value for money! My partner had a lot of meat, which she absolutely loved. There were some fun elements, such as broth boba pearls in her soup. I’m a vegetarian and they created a menu on the spot for me. I had an egg with mushrooms and some lovely foam for my first course and then a bunch of yummy veggies and a micro salad for my second course. My amuse was the tastiest carrot mousse! My only suggestion would be that they had some vegetarian options to the actual menu! We both had super tasty desserts, which included the most delicious poached cherries. The service was excellent and the ambience perfect for a romantic dinner! Loved it and will definitely return during our next trip to Paris!

This is 4.5 stars. Good value at Eu 38 for a great three-course dinner. In both the front of the house and the kitchen staff are Japanese. This is part of the new trend of top-notch«bistronomie»(casual chic) restaurants launched in Paris by foreigners who show the French guys how it’s done properly. French restaurant owners and chefs better start paying attention fast, and stop serving canned food. Décor is bare but not a turn-off. Service was congenial and caring, but became slow and a bit frazzled when the place was in full swing. All our dishes were excellent: the marinated salmon app was great, the black pudding was well executed but my wife expected it would be a hot spicy black pudding in the style of the Caribbean, so she was disappointed by this cold version, but there was nothing wrong with the recipe. My pork was juicy and tender, and the mushrooms were fresh and flavorful. Too bad the dish was so small for a main. My wife’s duckling was bursting with flavor, and a bit more hearty. And then there was the bread… Oh, sweet Jesus, the bread… I would come back tomorrow for that bread. Thick slices of ultra-fresh hearty wholewheat sourdough bread. Unbelievable. The wine selection was good, with a couple of very nice wines by the glass. The only negative was the dessert list: small choice, and not exciting. It seems that the rum-soaked«baba» cake is their signature dish, and you have to order it at the beginning of the meal. We did not, because we wanted to try the chocolate«moelleux», but it turned out to be misleading. This was a cold flourless chocolate ganache. It was well executed and it came with a raspberry sorbet, which provided the necessary acidity to cut through the fat of the ganache. Overall, the dish was balanced and worked, but it’s not a moelleux(= moist cake, possibly melting in the middle), and we would not have ordered it had we known what it was. The place was packed and they turned down a few passerby visitors. This restaurant opened 6 months ago and is still under most people’s radar, but it will become a very hard-to-get joint by the end of the Summer. Book in advance.

Small, up and coming restaurant in Paris that is not super touristy, at least not yet. The menu changes daily so I won’t go into the details of dishes, however just know you will get super high quality dishes at low prices relative to other places in Paris. Since it is not touristy be prepared to speak French, or like we did fumble through as much as possible with the EXTREMELY kind chef’s wife who was serving us. Get there soon, before they get so popular they will have to raise prices. Reservations are a must.

Damn, I wanted to be the first to review this place. We had caught wind of it from a food critic in Paris that we met at L’Avant Comptoir. He said this was the up and coming place to eat in Paris right at that moment. We took his word for it, and went for Midi(lunch). A brief history on the name and it’s owner– Les Enfants Rouge translated means Market of the Red Children. Red is the color of charity, and it takes it’s meaning from children who were cared for from a nearby orphanage. To find this restaurant is slightly tricky. There is a market that shares the same name market in French is «Marche», so if you google to find the address of the restaurant, take care to note that. The chef that opened this restaurant is Dai Shinozuka. He used to work for chef Yves Camdeborde at L’ Comptoir Relais.(which is the restaurant attached to L’Avant Comptoir. owned by the same people, as L’Avant Comptoir, which is a different setting next door). Chef Camdeborde was very supportive in Shinozuka’s opening his own place, he is considering an exceptional Chef(Think Jiro Dreams of Sushi, only in french cuisine). The food was presented as such– Plat, Entrée, Dessert(Menu) Ran around 35 Euro, and was exceptional. I will post pictures later. Everything was a work of art, and an explosion of tastes. The restaurant itself is very small, holding about 20 people comfortably, but it makes for an intimate setting that you can tell is family owned and run. His wife is even there to greet you at the door, and helps to serve tables. As far as the food goes, you get the feeling that Dai’s hands have made every course you are biting into. Beautiful, elegant and awesome. The next time we are in Paris, we will go for dinner. I would hurry and book it soon, the word isn’t out yet, and when it spreads, it will be tough to get a table. In the words of the food critic we met«Years from now, when people are talking about when this restaurant opened and they will be, you can say you were there when it all began, and you will not want to miss that opportunity». He was right. Some tips– To save on your bill go for the wine offered by the carafe. Runs about 14 euros for 100ml.
