We are staying just around the corner and stumbled upon this great restaurant in the rain. They have an English menu. The food was fantastic. I had breast of duck with mashed carrots. It was cooked to perfection. My companion had cod one night and trout the next. Both cooked superbly. You can order 3 sizes of carafe for wine. Friendly staff. They started to get busy about 8 but we were seated quickly at 7.

Lovely little place for a small bite to eat in the late afternoon. Very accommodating and the cheese plate was delicious with Gruyère and Camembert and some other cows milk cheese served with bread and salad. We didn’t have a whole dinner here but the atmosphere and the service and the small amount of food and drink we had made me wish we could have.

This airy, open restaurant is perfect for lunch or dinner. The menu is not complicated and the food is prepared and presented with an understated elegance. The starters(entrees in French menu lingo) are sensational, with great pates and good oef en gelee, and on and on. Lamb chops and fish are some of the main courses that zing. They even have quite good burgers done with a slightly French flair. I come back to this place again and again for reliability in a lovely setting. There is a new chef. In some ways even better but not great with a veal dish… Too well done. They were very nice about it though and all ended well.

The hanger steak is delicious and full of flavor. It just melts in your mouth. The fries are crispy and hot. The shallots are grainy and the mixed salad is mixed greens with a caper dressing. The meal was great.

We needed a quick meal at a casual place and this fit the bill perfectly. Quick, friendly service, yummy salmon and a nice glass of wine at a good price. Open late and no reservations needed. Plus espresso. What more can you ask?

Honestly, though my friend and I were really looking forward to eating here, it was pretty underwhelming. The place was pretty popular – possibly owing to the praise it received in the Michelin guide – so it’s possible we just didn’t do a fantastic job of ordering. We contemplated ordering the three-course menu but realized that the one dessert we wanted(two scoops of ice cream from Berthillon) was actually cheaper if we just ate it directly at Berthillon, so we instead chose to go with the two. For my appetizer, I had the eggs mimosa with crab. While I thought it was pretty tasty, it was honestly just two, cold hard-boiled eggs with what was essentially a bit of crab salad inside(e.g., deviled eggs with some artificial crab). For my entrée, I had the steak with some sort of sauce(which I didn’t really like, so I ate it plain) and fries. I found the steak pretty unexciting, and it paled in comparison to what I’m accustomed to(to be fair, I’m from Texas, so I think my expectations might be too high). On a side note, it’s a cute space, and their rooster theme makes for interesting décor.

Really nice place in a really nice neighborhood. We had the filet with fries and the daily special which was some poultry and garlic potatoes in a wonderful sauce. There’s no outdoor seating, but there are a few tables right up beside the front windows. We had a cappuccino and crème brûlée for dessert and the crème was perfect, nice and snappy on top and creamy and smooth inside. Our entire bill was something like 50 euro, which for two plats, an entrée, drinks, and dessert is quite good! Really good food and I’ll be coming back to try the dinner menu!

We accidentally ate here– and as I’ve learned through Unilocal, accidental dining experiences turn out to the best ones. We had planned most of our meals in France, but this was completely random. We had been walking around all afternoon and forgotten about dinner. By the time we walked around Île Saint-Louis again, we realized we were starving. We didn’t plan ANY stops along this route, and just randomly picked a place off Unilocal without reading the reviews. First of all, this place is amazing. There décor is hilarious and cozy, and the hostess is friendly. Their menu(pre fixe) is in French, and then completely in English on the reverse. The prices are outrageously great for the tremendous quality you get for the food. At the time, we had no idea this was a Michelin rated restaurant(can’t wait to tell the BF!) We have a crab salad starter, which was very light and refreshing, and packed full of flavor. The BF isn’t huge on seafood but thoroughly enjoyed this one. I went with the Beef Carpaccio, which came drizzled lightly with a pesto sauce and sprinkled generously with parma cheese, and fresh greens and french fries on the side. This is a very meaty dish, but it was surprisingly not overwhelming. The BF had a steak that was cooked exactly to his request(which, if you eat steak out, is hit and miss because many times, it’s overcooked). It also came with greens and fries. He enjoyed it very much(as did I!) We finished with a crème brûlée, which was perfection in a cute little ramekin. I think this was one of our favourite meals in Paris, and I’d definitely make it a point to eat here again the next time we visit.

This Michelin Rated restaurant was the highlight of our culinary adventure in Paris. It was late, we were tired and hungry and we had nop idea where to eat dinner after a long day of sightseeing… and out the corner of my girlfriends eye she noticed the cute little spot & once I noticed the Michelin rating it was all over. We had the; Ravioli appetizer — 5 star Fish & Chips — 4 star Peppercorn steak — 5 star Crème Brulee — 5 star The restaurant was decorated with several chicken(of all kinds) and very cute. The service was quick, friendly and accommodating and the place was clean and well deserving of the Michelin rating… I wish we had gone back!

We found this place through Unilocal.Parisians should use Unilocal more often! Anyway, food was fantastic here. We walked in, not knowing anything about the restaurant and saw lots of roosters decorated all around it. Very cute. We had the foie gras terrine as starter, it was one of the better ones we had tried in Paris. It was a lovely place, traditional and some modern food under the same roof. Worth visit. Also, grab a Bethillion ice cream next door after dinner!

This is a very nice restaurant in the middle of Paris where you can get a lovely meal for a great price. They are even in the Michelin guide for very good price and quality. This is also in the middle of the city so it is great if you are on a trip to Paris. I made a reservation to have dinner here after I read the menu online and saw the quirky photos of the restaurant. The theme in the restaurant is the Rooster and they are everywhere; little statues, paintings and even a wall filled with rooster drawings by costumers(of course I made one as well!). I went with the 3 course menu deal which was about 26 euros or something, together with red wine(very nice). As a starter I choose grilled sardines and I got a whole bowl. It was simple and delicious. As a main I choose Carpaccio, which was also a big plate full, with salad on top and fries as a side. So good! Because it was so much food and I was more full than I expected in the beginning I decided on a light and simple dessert, the fruit soup. Which was exactly that. A could soup of spiced citrus fruits. Refreshing, simple and nice. Just what I needed. Also tried a bit of the risotto and a pear/chocolate dessert. very good as well! A very good deal with simple classy honest food.

This place is fantastic! Even though we were staying in an apartment above and it was convenient, I’d go out of my way to come here. I can’t speak highly enough of the duck fois gras starter — silky smooth and creamy. I also had an exceptional black sea bream in white butter sauce. The sauce had the most delicate, buttery flavour without being heavy or greasy. To die for! Husband had the steak frittes with a green peppercorn sauce and he raved about it. Tourist friendly without being a tourist trap — the place was full of locals. Great wine list and a well-stocked bar. If you’re new to Paris this is an excellent place to start your foodie adventures. Authentic, classic but modern French bistro food. Loved it!

Went to this place as the Unilocal reviews looked good. Arrived at around 5 on Sunday afternoon. I said bonjour right away and was my usual very easy going self. The place was empty save one table with three or four people by the front window and one in the back area, but they left right away. The waitress though very nice seemed very busy noisily moving glasses around though she sat me right away and then went back to the glasses, which continued throughout the meal, after bringing me a menu in English as she recognized I was not from there I guess. I sat there for a little while, not a really long time, but a little while and then she came to take my order. I asked for her recommendation on the crab salad or the escargot. She was great in giving me her thoughts and recommended the crab salad which consisted of fresh crab meat on top of baby spinach leaves with a very nice vinaigrette and it was just as she described, very good. Really liked it. As a main plate I order the special pork which was supposed to be raised on a famous farm with a gnocchi side. When it came the gnocchi was amazing. I mean really good and the pork was covered in a red Bar-B-Que sauce. It was a nice sized piece of pork and I was really looking forward to it as I hadn’t eaten anything all day so I started cutting it up and I cut and I cut and I cut and I cut and it was completely fat. I had to search and search for any meat whatsoever. On top of that it was really difficult to cut and stringy. Being a Southern boy I’ve had a lot of pork and we wouldn’t feed this stuff to the dogs. It was really horribly bad. Still, I fought with it trying to retrieve something resembling meat from this huge slab of fat with little success. The majority of it was still on my plate at the end. They had desserts but I didn’t want to chance that so I asked for the check. On the standing card menu that I ordered from the price for a starter and a plate with no desert was 19 euros. When the bill came I was charged 23 euros. Upon looking at the bill it was broken down to HT20.91 and TVA2.09 which the internet tells me is tax and there are three versions of TVA19.6% for the high end, 5.5% for the reduced rate and 2.1% for the super reduced rate. I was charged 10% which fits none of the above categories. What is really interesting about this is at every other restaurant in Paris, and I mean every one from low end to high end, the price listed in the menu is the price you pay. Tax has never been added after the fact and the price is not jacked up after you eat from what you see in the menu. I didn’t have any alcohol either, just water, so that didn’t figure in to the price. I could almost think the special pig fat steak they served me was some kind of delicacy thing and me not being aware of it, but it’s obvious to me when I’m getting shortchanged on the price. If I hadn’t been here a while and eaten out many times before this I would not have known, but this place didn’t serve me my first French meal. I would be more forgiving with the stars as the salad and gnocchi were exceptional, but the fatty pig slab and price change just left me cold. I mean, really, 4 euros is not going to break me, but still. There are a lot of great restaurants in Paris. Sadly this is not one of them. Go somewhere where the price is the price and they don’t serve you a slab of fat and call it pork. A shame too as the salad and the gnocchi were good. Really good. Now if those glasses would just quit clanking… PS: Went back to the Angelina Tea Room today for the second time just to check and see what the pricing practice was. They did indeed break out the tax and it was 10%, but that was already included in the prices on the menu so they didn’t tell you one price to make you think it was cheaper and charge you another like Les Fous de L’Ile did.

I was looking for some good French Cuisine after a long day sight seeing and came across this restaurant on the way to find the Metro. The menu was simple French fare but well prepared. I had the chicken oyster in cream and finished the meal with an expertly prepared crème brûlée. The wine list is extensive and they take mercy and have their menu translated to English. I would recommend this place for lunch and dinner.

The fixed price menu was perfectly priced, and generously portioned. Special commendation for the greedy coffee dessert. Nice, no-fuss atmosphere, that had a good mix of locals, repeat customers, and travelers. Ok place for well behaved kids, they may even hang your kids chicken drawing in the wall if it passes muster.

I really wanted steak for lunch at a reasonable price. I spent about an hour looking for a good place to down and I finally came to this little spot. Their business deal looked pretty good so I went for it and I’m so happy I did! I didn’t really enjoy the anchovy appetizer(but I don’t think I like anchovies so much). But the Flank Steak was worth the whole experience. I got it rare and their french fries were McDonald style. And the Staff is very nice as well. I’m almost certain you wont regret it. Beer + Starter + Main = 23 Euro
