Never have I been so impressed with a restaurant’s genuine hospitality and desire to guarantee each patron leaves a happy visitor. I felt like they would’ve whipped up anything and everything a customer wanted in the kitchen in order to make sure s/he was satisfied with the meal and properly fed. If you want to be pampered with a three Michelin star meal, come here. Needless to say the food was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the scallops, apple flambé dessert, and seemingly ordinary Guinness beer pie that was extraordinary!

Wonderful food and the most superb service one could ask for. The setting is perfect and the décor is first rate. From the moment we walked through the doorway to the time we were escorted out, we felt warmly welcome and dearly attended to. I can’t wait to return, not just for the food, but to see the servers and sommeliers, too.

Yannick Alleno and his group have been running this restaurant since 2014, and they are totally knocking it out of the park. The restaurant is smack dab in the middle of Paris right next to the Petit Palais– it seriously doesn’t get prettier anywhere in the city– and the building itself is a restored garden mansion fro Napoleon III’s era. The food is totally transcendent– the menu I tried takes awhile(more than four hours) but this is high French dining in its truest form. Some of the freshest, tastiest Wagyu I’ve ever tried, an endless parade of creative and delicious desserts, and amazingly friendly wait and somm services to boot. You can’t do better for a fine night out in Paris, in my opinion. For a dorky, course-by-course description, I invite you to go here: -

This place is very deserving of its 3 Michelin stars! Recommendations: Duckling cooked with malt, wagyu beef«gunma» grade 4, Langoustine tart topped with Oscietra caviar, and the Roasted duck Foie gras Price: $ 275+ Absolutely EVERYTHING about this place is perfect. From the service(all workers were extremely attentive, professional, and kind) to the food(Everything here was filled with flavor) to the location(right on the Jardin Tulleries). My personal favorite was the duckling cooked with malt. It came out in two different parts(both parts were good and pictured, but I loved part 1 so much!). Part 1 came out as a sort of pastry, which really caught me off guard. The duck was on top of this flaky and perfectly flavored pastry that I crave to this day. Should I be in Paris again, I will definitely be here again! Oh, my friend and I also got a cup of 21 year aged The Macallan and a glass of 2011 Château d’Yquem(delicious dessert wine) — YUM!

First time being in Paris me and my friends really want to try all the delicious foods and get some Michelin star restaurants in too since there’s so many to choose from here. Sadly I was the one that suggested Ledoyen and it was a fail and I dragged our group of 7 here with me. The restaurant itself is beautiful and modern and I really liked the large floral displays presented throughout the dining area. We came here for a lunch and all ordered the prix fix. All the dishes were prepared well and cooked perfectly but where’s the flavor?! Nothing stood out to me as exceptionally good. There were some interesting items but interesting doesn’t equal delicious. Maybe I don’t have a palate for modern cuisine, which is what I felt most of the dishes were, even though when I picked this restaurant I was trying to stay away from modern but it’s hard to tell from just reading reviews. I enjoyed another lunch at 1 star Septime much much more and for much cheaper too. Lesson learned, do your research and research completely if you’re going to be shelling out money for a 3 star lunch make sure it’s the type of food and place you really will enjoy.

When I travel, I always seek out restaurants to eat using chowhound, Unilocal, tripadvisor, blogs, etc. I compile a list and weigh the pros and cons. After all, if I eat at a certain place, I can’t eat somewhere else. I did a lot of research before deciding to eat at Ledoyen for dinner. Ledoyen didn’t meet my expectations. :(I was actually kinda sad, because who knows when I’ll return to Paris. There are so many other places to visit. Don’t get me wrong, some of the dishes were excellent, more precisely, two that were stand out amazing. But I expected more. First, I was talked out of getting foie gras by the waiter. I’m from California, so I don’t get much foie gras. I totally regret not getting foie gras. Then on the tasting menu, sweetbreads was listed as the meat course. I’m not a fan of sweetbreads. I wanted to change it. The same waiter tried to get me to order the sweetbreads saying it is the French way to get sweetbreads. I’m not French and I don’t like sweetbreads. I ended up getting a pork dish that I wasn’t too big a fan of. My friend got the sweetbreads and while she likes sweetbread, she said it was too much for her. Too much so, that she says she no longer likes sweetbread. For how much we pay to dine here, we should be allowed to order what we want without the waiter trying to pressure us to order a certain way. Onto the food, There was prawns made two ways that was amazing. One was grilled? and splayed and one was fried with some kind of phyllo dough. One of the best dishes I have eaten. The prawn was perfectly cooked, seasoned, etc. The bites were amazing. The sauce they put on the prawn was also amazing! This was our first course and I had high hopes after this one. The next dish was a fish dish. This one was mediocre. I wasn’t a fan. The pork dish was just good. I had a bite of my hubby’s sweetbread, and it was good, but I really didn’t think I could have a whole entrée of it. The next memorable dish was the grapefruit dessert. It was grapefruit sorbet, chunks of grapefruit with a hard rectangle piece on top.(Candied something?). This dish was very refreshing. It was one of the best desserts I’ve had. I can’t recall how many courses we had but besides the prawns and grapefruit dishes, everything was on par with food I’ve had at very good 2 or 1 starred Michelin restaurants, which is sad because this is a 3 star Michelin restaurant. Dinner was almost $ 1000USD(hubby got wine pairing) and while I’ve had worse for more money, I’ve mostly had better for less.

One word: RATS! It truly pains me to write this. I wanted so much to love Pavillion Ledoyen. I want to start by saying the food was merely okay. As in, on our 10 day honeymoon, my husband and I have easily had 3 better meals. We are foodies — and don’t mind paying for it! We went to Ledoyen for lunch. It’s a beautiful place. Our table had a lovely view of the Champs-Élysées and the Petite Palis. SERVICE: The service was fine. All our questions were answered, they helped us bridge the language barrier, and we were treated very kindly. FOOD: Like I said, It was okay. Not fantastic, but solid(for a $ 500 lunch I expect more than solid). We both had the tasting menu. The starter was an egg soufflé with poached asparagus, for main dishes we had fish and pigeon. We also had a cheese course, and dessert. I will say that two things were fabulous: the olive rolls and my husband’s white chocolate dessert(hence the second star). Other than that, nothing worth taking note of. DRINKS: Upon arrival, we were offered a choice of 3 champagnes to try. The one I picked was delicious. The wine list was very extensive, to the point it was overwhelming. We settled on a bottle of white that was very good. ***Okay, here’s the crazy part: when we had finished all of the courses and were waiting for a very long time on the check, my husband said, «Oh my God, a rat just ran under that table.» I thought(hoped/prayed) he was mistaken. But I also watched, and sure enough — a big, brown rat was crawling around the floor of the oldest, finest restaurant in Paris. I was absolutely disgusted. Naturally we alerted one of the employees so that they could do something about it. So there we sat(for a very long time) waiting for our $ 500 check, praying that the rat did not decide to come hang out under our table. Did they offer any sort of apology? Absolutely not. Pavillion Ledoyen was the biggest joke of a dining experience in my life. There are 15 other Michelin 3 star restaurants in Paris. DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEORMONEYINTHATRATTRAP.

For my 600th Unilocal review, I’ve chosen Ledoyen because it became one of my most memorable haute cuisine experiences. This is exactly the kind of restaurant I expect from 3 Michelin starred restaurant. If you want to indulge yourself in an ultimate frou frou and decadent dining experience, Ledoyen would be a great choice. I suggest to go for lunch because you’ll save a lot of €€€. This is one of the oldest restaurants in Paris and some of the notable patrons include Napoleon, Danton, Monet and Degas. The gorgeous neo-classical architecture provides a stunning setting, with note-worthy ornate ceiling decorations and a beautiful view of the garden outside. I really loved the old world atmosphere, it’s hard to beat this level of perfection. The service is impeccable and extremely formal. Make sure you are dressed to the nines or otherwise you will feel so out of place. I’m so glad there was a Japanese-speaking waitress who translated the menu for me because there is no English version… Only in French! The food presentation was so beautiful and creative, the interesting texture and the tasty flavors were such pleasures to my senses. The ginger bubble appetizer was particularly interesting with such burst of flavor. This is a great example of well executed molecular gastronomy, in which unique artsy appearance equals the quality of the taste. Mushroom pizza was also off the hook, I loved it! Green sea urchin mixed with shaved ice and cheese was refreshing and had a surprisingly simple flavor. For the main dish I ordered seafood(lobster, shrimp, scallop & fish) served with rich scrumptious brown sauce. It was so delicious that I could say it was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve eaten. The other option for the main dish was pork but it wasn’t as good as the seafood. After the main dish, the waitress brought a cart filled with almost 20 different kinds of expensive cheese so I tried like 7 cheese and that alone was a great bonus! And the dessert was also another highlight, the meringue with rose and lychee dissolved in my mouth and satisfied my taste buds with such fresh flavor! I spent about € 130 per person for lunch but I think this is such a great value! Everything was phenomenal, this is my top 5 meals I had in my life!

After doing my homework on places to eat in Paris, I settled on Ledoyen and L’arperge. Unfortunately I did not make it to L’arperge(but that’s a story for another day) but was lucky enough to make it to Ledoyen in May 2013. I initially made a reservation for the party I was travelling with(6 in total) but had to revise it to just 2(my mom and myself) and change the lunch time. Not a problem! The lady who answered my call was very accommodating and even thank me for informing them in advance. Arrived there and was stunned by the magnificence of the building. Unfortunately I did not have time to peruse the architecture(rush rush rush) but was greeted through the door. The lady at the door took my mom and my coat and shopping bags and passed us on to another person who took up upstairs this big staircase. We were then shown into a longish dining room, where some tables were already occupied. I was simply overwhelmed and very nervous not wanting to totally embarrass myself in a 3 star Michelin restaurant. I tried my best high school french and our waiter was thankfully very kind and gamely went along(even after I had to finally start using english). We were given our lunch menus, which I had booked us in for. As the lunch experience happened quite a few months ago, I’ll try to be as accurate as possible. We were served with plate containing a small wooden spoon with a gelee like bubble, each. Into my mouth it went, and had an interesting citrusy taste to it. We were then served with a plate with some delicate sesame spring roll-like with fresh vegetable filling, i think a foie gras ball with a coating(but I’m just guessing), a a small wafer thin crisp with I think wakamame(damn u memory!) each. We then received a tray with two crisps each, one sesame seed and i think a rice like crisp. Somewhere in between being served the above, we ordered our selections for an entre, main and dessert and ordered a rosé each. We then received an amusé bouche which I think was a beef soup with some peas and some bits of mince meat and clear noodles. The presentation was beautiful but the soup did make my eyes water a little bit from the saltiness. My mom’s entrée, funghi aka mushroom topped with water cress and shavings of some cheese came out while my eel gelee on top of beetroot came to me. I could not have enough of the eel entrée. While my mom’s entrée’s mushrooms were fresh and delicately prepared, my entrée made me extremely happy with my choice. I remember feeling happy and making a mental note to come back if ever I was back in the city. After being fussed about by our waiter, we greedily accepted freshly baked rolls, sooooo delicious. Mom’s main was a turbot which though beautifully cooked, was nothing to shout about. Again, my choice triumped my mom’s. A steak perfectly grilled with home-made ketchup(our waiter assured me it was good and boy was it!) with little pastry ball that revealed horseradish in it. The steak was buttery goodness which melted in my mouth. I shared my steak with my mom who agreed that the steak was the clear winner. I remember some sort of scallop like thingy on the dish but can’t recall exactly now. We then received a plate of meringue with toppings, including an extremely sour but refreshing passion thingy. Yay! The pistachio macaron was woeful tho, painfully dense and uninspired. There was some whiteish ball thing too but I don’t recall the taste. Then the most monstrous tray of cheeses was presented to us. I don’t like cheese but was recommended to try an offering of the 26(?) different cheeses. It was nice as a small serve but I was not hungry for more and was happy with what I picked. My mom’s chocolate log came out and yes it was nice and decadent. My very very pink dessert of berries and some meringue like thingy came to me. I was not a fan of the dessert as it was too sweet(perhaps purposely to counter the tartness of the berries?). I don’t know. All in all a very wonderful experience. $ 125 euro per head(i think) was a wonderful introduction to the exclusive 3 star michelin club. I will definitely be returning the next time to sample the dinner offerings. Ledoyen’s service was faultless. The attending waiters were very generous with their time and patiently answered any questions we had. Do note that the aperitiv’s and tea/coffee is not part of the lunch menu prix fixe aka set menu.

This was my favorite meal in Paris. It is a very fancy and very expensive place, but it is so worth it. The service is spectacular and the food couldn’t have been better. The food is very modern but the service is very old fashioned, so I think its a good mix. Suit and tie is definitely recommended for the men. The wine was also amazing! The sommelier gave us a fabulous recommendation. I ordered a la carte and my husband ordered the tasting menu. The restaurant itself is in a spectacular setting. It’s unlike anything else in Paris. It’s right across from the Mini Palais, which is close to the Obelisque. The whole building is the restaurant, it’s set apart in its own little park. The view outside the window is so beautiful. We walked in and were a little intimidated because of how fancy of a place it was, but you just have to accept it and realize that all these waiters are there to serve you an amazing dinner and they are truly happy to do it. They all spoke very very good English and were happy to do it. The waiters were all so polite, happy and friendly. They put you at ease. The first thing they do is bring over a cart with chilled bottles of champagne and they offer you a glass. I ordered a glass of the rose champagne, 31 euros. The meal starts with a couple little bites of food to try. There was a bubble of some sort of fruity juice/air, a fois gras truffle, and other things I can’t even remember. One of the best parts of the meal might actually have been the bread… they have this wheat bread that is seriously the best bread I have ever had in my life by far. They must make it kind of like a croissant… you can tell that it has been rolled out with butter layered in, and folded and rolled. It has an incredibly complex savory flavor that’s just loaded with butter. And then, you put their amazing butter on it and you just can’t even believe what your’e eating. It’s just too good. I got the carrot salad to start, it was very modern and really delicious. It was little cylinders of carrot purée with a thinly sliced carrot wrapped around it. it was actually a piece of art it was so beautiful. You could tell it took a lot of love and time to prepare it. They don’t mess around here. There is a reason why it is so expensive. The dishes must take an army of people to prepare. It’s all just so special. For my entrée I got john dory with citrus, it was amazing, so perfectly cooked and such unique flavors and preparation. My dessert was awesome, it was fresh strawberries with the best ice cream and whipped cream. It was light and perfect. My husband got the tasting, there were so many amazing things, every dish was special. Some standouts were the sweetbreads and the turbot with truffles. He got a beautiful grapefruit dessert, it was so refreshing and tasty. At the end of the tasting he got to have the cheese course which was awesome. They bring over a cart of cheese and you get to select which ones you want to try. They will give you a description of all of them and give you recommendations based upon what you like. It was great. THEN they give you a whole bunch of little dessert treats that are so tasty and by that time I was so full it was ridiculous. And then after that they were supposed to give us other things, but seeing how full we were they put them in cute little bags and gave it to us to bring home for breakfast… let me tell you, these were the most amazing things ever. It was a mix between a palmiere and a croissant. I actually just looked that phrase up online, and I believe it was a kouign amann. I’m getting a recipe pronto… it was unreal, definitely save it for the next day so you can enjoy it while you aren’t insanely full. FYI this restaurant is very expensive. The tasting menu was 250 euros per person. I ordered a la carte and the salad was 60 euros, my entrée was 90 euros and my dessert was 32 euros. This restaurant is unreal and a once in a lifetime experience. I can’t recommend it enough. This is our first 3 Michelin star dining experience and it was amazing!!!

I had bought a groupon deal a while ago and used it recently. I ordered the Classic Macaron’s from their site and was extremely disappointed with the Macaron’s. The macaron’s arrived tiny, broken and the ones that wasn’t broken did not have the«Feets» on the cookies and on top of that they didn’t taste that great. I’ve had macaron’s from many other places and was never disappointed like this before. On top of that the price of shipping was so expensive. I would never buy from them again.

Whatever you do, DONOT order from their online site. It is the worst service ever. I ordered a set of macarons to be sent to my mother in law for her birthday in OCTOBER and she still has yet to receive it. Now they are telling me the items are on backorder, when it was not indicated as such on the website when I ordered. I even called before I placed my order to confirm that the items will be received in time. No apologies from e-mailing customer service. Edit: So they did apologize and send a box of truffles as an apology, which is an improvement. Hopefully they will get their online operations in order soon.

After speaking with some others regarding my experience and after my wife spoke with a food blogger who is familiar with Mons. Christian Le Squer, i was surprised to find out that many others have had some of the same experiences of price gouging, purposely not offering tap water to tourists, general lack of service befitting of a 3 Michelin Star establishment… the list goes on. I’m lowering my rating because the chef/owner is actually aware of these issues and has not yet addressed them.

Full review in blog, dish highligts below: For my first taste of Le Squer’s cuisine I was a bit taken aback — sure I’d seen pictures and heard that he dabbles in pairing his classic training with modern technique, but I certainly wasn’t anticipating a molecular gastronomy in a room like Ledoyen. Presented on a pair of black slate blocks the sextet of canapés du jour were described first in French and then in English by a young woman who would act as my primary server throughout the meal and each one clearly sported not only modern flare, but Eastern influence as well. With options including a «Ginger Bubble,» a Veggie Wrap with Sesame, an Asparagus Puff with Nori, an Uni pita, and Crackers flavored with Polenta and Parmesan alongside those made with Sesame and Squid Ink each bite was fun and tasty, but overall it was the Uni Pita that truly stood out — like a pizza-roll stuffed with butter and purple urchin that burst on mastication into a flood of briny flavor. Already glad I’d decided to make the visit my first proper course of the afternoon would be precisely the sort of dish I’d expected from Ledoyen — an eye catching dish pairing top quality ingredients and time-honored techniques with a handful of whimsy. Described as Foie Gras des Landes mi-cuit with chocolate, toffee, vanilla, esplette, and sea salt from the Brittany coast this dish was decadence defined and although offered as an appetizer it could have just as as easily arrived as dessert. Significant in portion and more so in taste I particularly loved the manner in which the crunchy peppered toffee melded the thick layer of creamy liver with the milk chocolate ganache forming a flavor oddly reminiscent of an upscale peanut butter cup with basenotes of smoke and spice. With the plate for course one literally wiped clean to the amusement of my server it would be a short while before my second of the four course lunch menu would arrive, this time«Bresse Chicken in stale bread with Tarragon, Grapefruit, Asparagus and Fine Herb reduction» Again served in ample portion with the bird’s mildly gamey flavor and tender flesh enhanced by the tarragon and herbs packed beneath the buttery crust the other high point of this dish was the inspired pairing of thinly sliced white asparagus and grapefruit — two flavors I’d have never thought to combine, but when used in this setting a pleasant acidic accompaniment to the otherwise classic take on «fried chicken.» While other diners opting for the lunch menu were preparing for cheeses or desserts the parade of savories would march on for myself in the form of a piping hot structure approximately one and a half times the size of a Twinkie. Dubbed by some as «The Macaroni Castle»(Officially titled Jambon /Morilles /Truffe Aux Spaghettis) this dish came highly recommended by no less than three trusted palates and despite its cost being more than the entirety of the lunch tasting it was absolutely worth it. With tender spaghettis standing vertical beneath a molten cheese roof decorated with crisp potatoes, savory ham, gold, and fresh morels this plate was a visual masterpiece, but like many things it was«the inside that counts» — a liquid filling loaded with butter, parmesan, cream, ham, morels, and chunks of black truffle the size of grapes. Beautiful, complex, aromatic, and decadent in every sense of the word — a dish that will forever stand out in my mind as one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. The third dessert of the afternoon would arrive perhaps fifteen minutes after the second and this one was much more fitting my sensibilities. Described as «Strawberry, coriander, hibiscus, beurre blanc crème brulee» I personally like to remember this dish as Sophisticated Strawberry Shortcake without the cake. Featuring fraises des bois in a ring surrounding floral pastry cream perched atop the most decadent crème brulee one can imagine at its base the dish was then topped with aromatic coriander foam and smooth strawberry gelato to form a dish where each bite was a little different from the last — it was exquisite. My last dessert would arrive in the form of «Chocolate crunch, caramel, crème fraiche.» In my opinion saving the best for last this decadent plate was geometrically pleasing and texturally wowing with two thick fingers of Valrhona ganache filled with nougat and wafer juxtaposing a layer of thick caramel at the center of the plate and tangy vanilla tinged crème fraiche at one side with chocolate pop-rocks at the other. While the room is certainly aged and the service not as whimsical as that of Pierre Gagnaire or l’Arpege I personally did not find either to be cold or boring but instead classical and befitting a building of such history. Moving beyond this, I found Le Squer’s style and the product on the table to almost serve a bridge between past and present — a classic approach that is not afraid to have a little fun and serious dining with just a touch of whimsy.

Took a 9 hr flight, checked into a hotel for a quick nap and came straight here for lunch. Food was beautifully presented and made with the freshest ingredients. We sat down and was immediately presented with the apertif bar choices rolled up to us. It’s mainly champagne but they were accommodating with my wine request. Beautiful and tasty amuse bouche(4 of them plus a small soup with poached quail egg). For appetizer, we had the foie gras/chocolate cubes and besides being very flavorful(salty!), it was sweet and spicy as well. It’s intense and a bit too intense for my husband. Entrée, he had chicken and I had John Dory served with peas. Clearly, I’m not including all the details cause who wants to read a 10-page Unilocal review. Amazing cheese presentation and I sampled 4 of them, different regions, texture, milk. Dessert, we had the most amazing strawberry served over sorbet and crème brûlée(?) and he had some banana concoction which he wasn’t crazy about. It came with 4 other dessert sides and the most memorable was a chocolate dome served on a stick over a baileys crème cake. Our coffee were served with the most amazing mini-pastry that was buttery, flaky, perfectly sweetened and warm. At this point, they served final pieces of chocolate and we just about passed out from the jetlag and massive eating. Why only 4 stars? For a 3-michelin star restaurant, I expected excellent service and unfortunately, one of my waiters(Monsieur Le Stick up Le Butt) did not live up to this standard. He translated the menu too quickly, rushed us through ordering, sloppily splattered the sauce on my husband’s chicken and did not tell us what the sauce was, ever so gently dropping the utensils on our table while looking at other tables, and got snippy when I let him know I forgot which of my 4 cheeses I should start with. The rest of the staff were very nice so it’s too bad I got Monsieur LSULB as my waiter. Dress code, and this may be the reason why LSULB was rude and condescending to us. I called and asked and they said«Dress elegantly». I then asked if jackets are required and they told us «Dress elegantly». Well, my husband was the only man without a jacket on. So jackets are required.
