Great new dining room. Very futuristic and the full tasting menu incorporates the current trend of healthier lighter fare. Great experience overall.

2 michelin star restaurant. Ranked #47 in the world. The interior decoration is luxurious and is fit for a king. When serving, all the servers use white gloves. The sommelier recommended a bottle of Roc de Cambes 2010 which was definitely one of the best wines I have ever drank in my life. The restaurant is a seafood restaurant and you can choose the a la carte or a 3 course surprise menu in which the chef decides which foods to give you. The menu is only in french so we had to have the waiter translate everything for us. In the end, we decided to go with the 3 course surprise menu. Before the dishes actually came out, there were plenty of smaller appetizers that were served. The seafood main courses were very good. The serving sizes were more for a tasting menu but after seeing how many desserts they brought to the table, it was definitely enough. Just as a warning, we were given about 5 different desserts each. There were a lot of chocolate and cocoa desserts which was a bit too heavy. Eating 1 chocolate dessert would have been enough but 2 more was too much. I’d definitely come back.

We dined here and were pleased with attention to detail, courageous dishes without the typical Michelin restaurant food gymnastics, and attentive staff. The fact that the tables had no table cloths and the menu was only in French did not take away from the ‘specialness” of the experience. Ducasse is courageous and seems to present food wholistically — beautiful, tasty, and good for health. This was not missed by us. There was a plethora of staff, and they were professional. There was one downside, which typcally I would say is impossible to recover from. This restaurant overcame the obstacle due to excellent service and food. The Somm who was a bit awkward and reminded me of Paul Blart in the Mall Cop did not provide us with the wine list. We asked and I had to ask for the wine list 3 times. To be fair, I indicated that we are unlikely to order wine, but I wanted to see the list. I dont need to explain why we could have changed our minds. I also dont need to indicate that I typically drink DRC. Ergo, if I was the proprietor, i would get a new Somm. This would be my recommendation. To Summarize: pros: 1. amazing food and atmosphere; 2. many waiters and amazing tea service; 3. healthy food that is beautiful and tasty; Negatives: 1. Somm needs to be severly beaten and fired or shipped to Lugansk to service in the Ukrainian forces and cook for them; 2. Menu is only in French, but waiters do a great job transalting. Overall — excellent dining experience…

From the opulence and decadence, this place is magical. As you enter the restaurant, the modern yet traditional style is like a playground for all senses. The service was white glove service with all the staff that spoke English well. Their homemade bread was gluten free and delicious and their menu was suitable for a vegan/gluten free as well as a pescatarian. This new concept restaurant says«vegetarian» but they have seafood. We did a three course meal with wine pairing and each course was excellent and a good size. The green lentils with caviar was one of the best dishes served that night with textures and taste that play nicely together. The interesting take on simple potatoes was genius. It was transformed to taste anything but a potato yet resemble a potato in appearance. My brain was thoroughly confused in the most magical way. Dessert was fantastic with a peanut mousse and a crêpe like in between. And at the very end, the chocolate squares with crispy rice was just enough. Great restaurant and a great experience. One of the top five restaurants I’ve been to in the world and most memorable.

Years ago, this was our first gastronomique experience and it was absolute perfection. The setting is incredibly romantic. The staff sets the standard for professionalism with their uptight demeanor yet have a good sense of humor with American patrons. The only real issue is that I’m now«chasing the dragon» searching for a price-fixed restaurant that can compete. The French Laundry is the only other gastronomique I’ve found, thus far, that can stand with Alain Duccasse. By the end of the meal, we were SWEATING as we were so full and delirious with the richly balanced courses. My wife wanted to surrender but I forced her to stay on the frontline with me as I weakly explained, «we’re in this together! You can’t leave me». Thankfully, we survived the delectable onslaught, as a team, and barely made it upstairs eventually succumbing to a glorious food coma. Alain Duccasse is famous for a reason. This was, at the time, the most expensive meal I had ever paid for but I did it without the slightest hesitation and with an enormous smile.

What a cruel surprise. My wife and I ate here on New Years Eve, suckers we were, and were treated to a fleecing the likes of which we’d never experienced. The meal started with a forgettable amuse bouche and went downhill from there. There was something with polenta that tasted like wet dog. Plate after plate of dry fish and seafood varieties. Undercooked duck breast swimming in a thick pond of beige gravy. A bowl of what appeared to be warm yogurt and a leaf of romaine lettuce. It seemed as if the kitchen was cleaning out everything that had not been used in 2014. And then burying it under mounds of truffles. We love truffles. Who doesn’t? But not when they are dumped onto each dish like potato chips being emptied from a bag. It was like a Monty Python skit. A waiter wearing a black glove would appear after each plate was set down, and grind a truffle the size of a softball over the entrée until it disappeared. Every plate was a total solar eclipse. The room took on the odor of a men’s locker room. We bailed before the last two courses. Never again.

Absolutely impeccable. The cooking was perhaps the best I’ve had anywhere. Each step of our meal was just perfect. After all the hype I had expected more of a vegetable focus but I cannot complain about the menu. Maybe my favourite was the lobster with Brussels sprouts. Seriously. Best Brussels sprouts ever. I want to learn how to make these at home! I also have to give thanks to our sommelier who helped us to find the perfect wines for our meal. Thank you!

This was a must stop for us in our 4 day visit to Paris. Just seeing pictures of the restaurant on line, I had to dress up and try it. They really want to fatten us up. We ate so much we had to ask the waiter to stop:-P every dish was different. Definitely a must try one time, any more and you’ll go broke.

My very muddled memory… but it must have been the year 1993? Hmmm… A work visit to Paris with my dad and his friends… I was a vegetarian. Oh boy… we sat down, lovely service… when I informed them that I’m a vegetarian, they graciously offered to «create» a special meal for me… I can’t remember the salad… but OMG… my main course? It’s as clear as can be in my mind’s eye… beautifully arranged meticulously sliced potatoes layered with sliced black truffles… pan fried in what must’ve been a copper bottom pan… it was eye pleasing and one of the most memorable meals I’ve had… (Ok…my parents love to eat… hawker stalls in Southeast Asia or $$$ restaurants) This is as special as can be… Lord knows we will NOT be eating there anytime soon… :)

This was the one 3-michelin start restaurant we went to while in Paris and I have to say I was a little disappointed. I spent months picking out the one big, expensive dinner we would have. I looked into places like L’Arpege, Guy Savoy and Le Meurice, but ultimately ended up here based on reviews and others recommendations. The room is quite stunning when you enter. Large chandeliers make you feel as though you are in a winter wonderland. We sat at our table and were immediately greeted. We started with champagne and then were presented with menus. The waiter kept«pushing» things on us, which was a bit strange, especially an an establishment of this caliber. First he tried to dictate our entire menu and then when we insisted we wanted to order a la carte he «really suggest we add a course of lobster.» This would have been if that extra course of lobster weren’t around 100 euros per person. I will say the lobster was delicious, but no one likes to be pushed. We were brought many«amuse» — all good, but nothing so inspiring that I remember it now a week later. The bread and butter service was not as tempting as I wanted it to be. There were 3 varieties of bread and two of butter. The salted butter was excellent but the breads were a little boring. I tasted the asparagus(covered in truffles), the scallops(covered in truffles) for starters and both were quite good and had an absurd amount of truffles on them. Then we moved on to our lobster course, which again was also incredible. For the mains I ordered the pigeon, also with truffles and I was able to taste the sole and the chicken with truffles. I think the truffles were a little overplayed. It’s not that I do not love truffles, because I really do, but there comes a point when there is too much of a good thing. The cheese cart was wonderful as was each and every cheese I tasted from it. However, this is to be expected at a restaurant of this level. The dessert was the mos disappointing part of the meal. The waiter recommend the«fruit» and since he didn’t bring the menu back over, I didn’t even know what it consisted of. It was raw kumkwats, and citrus topped with granita. How boring. If anything I would have expected this to be a palate cleanser, but not the main dessert. The dessert accompaniments, such as the caramel carts and almond tuiles that were placed on the table were better than the dessert itself but still nothing extraordinary. As a parting gift they left us with salt. I have yet to try this salt. Overall it was a «good» dinner, but for these prices, this dinner should have blown us away. I had a much better dinner at Alain Ducasse at the Essex House, when he had a Michelin star restaurant in NYC. This is no way stands out as one of the best meals of my life and the biggest reasons were the pushy service and the bad dessert. I would recommend eating elsewhere while in Paris. As the group of four of us agreed as we left, this restaurant was«underwhelming.»

JUSTAWFULFOODFORTHEPRICES — The most overated restaurant my wife and I have ever been to. Cuisine is not Haut Cuisine and overall very bland and lacking any real sophistication, depth or intensity of flavor that is expected in a restaurant of this reputable character. Seems Chef Ducasse is to busy traveling and enjoying life to be on top if his restaurants nowadays. Lunch and Dinner menus are the same with the same really outrageous prices even by Parisian standards. As a lover of fine haut cuisine this is the most expensive meal($ 600 for three food menu items and a bottle of house Champagne) we have ever had and I sadly must admit one that lacked any real flavors or depth in their cuisine. Sadly this restaurant is very busy with what can only be an ignorant business clientel(on expense accounts) It really makes you wonder – Am I the only one that thinks this restaurants food is bland, uncreative and really overpriced? Even the presentation on the plate lacks any real artistry. Service and atmosphere are very excellent however and its just the cuisine that’s so sad, bland, lacking, uncreative and very very overpriced. . Executive summary: Masterful service, wonderful ambience, delicious food, strangely large portions. This is a ridiculously expensive restaurant, but then, that third * gives them the right to ask a little extra I suppose. The service is on par with or superior to that at the very best restaurants in the United States; the staff are willing and able to speak English or to humor one’s attempts at speaking French. They’ll patiently explain the nuances of the various species of lobster on the menu, all of which have different names in French. They’ll pull your chair out for you and refold your napkin while you use the restroom. As my companion observed, they’ll even smile kindly at the tourists who wander inside the dining room in bermuda shorts, eyeball each other and the be-suited diners, realize how under-dressed they are, and flee in terror. The food is excellent. Even after skipping breakfast, we decided to err on the side of caution and order a la carte, rather than hitting the tasting menu.(Beware, the a la carte option will not get you out the door *cheaply*, but it could save 30% or so.) Even so, we were unable to eat everything set before us. Upon arrival we were offered an apéritif. We accepted and were served rather excellent champagne(which later turned out to cost 35 Euros per glass, but oh well); this we drank with amuses bouches of toasts with French country-style ham and raw sea bass.(Yummy!) After this, the food came in bigger and bigger barrages. Part of the problem was the bread. It is so F***ING delicious! Miniature baguettes, a crusty dark rye, and a country sourdough, served with creamy European-style butter, plus a complementary(and generously portioned) amuse-bouche of sweet tiny shrimp and crispy-fried shrimp heads in garlic oil. By the time our appetizers came we had eaten a *lot* of the bread — hard to avoid, but something of a mistake. Our appetizers were a hot pastry filled with foie gras, spinach, and mushrooms, and a cold langoustine dish served with caviar and ginger-seafood consommé. These were about as delicious as the descriptions make them sound. When our main courses arrived we were pretty much stuffed. Nonetheless, I charged into battle with my lobster bisque, which was rich, spicy, and perfectly matched against the sweet chunks of lobster knuckle and the 2009 Bordeaux recommended by the sommelier. Meanwhile, my companion made a valiant attempt to conquer her duck, but ultimately admitted defeat. However, even if completely stuffed, one doesn’t go to a *** restaurant and skip dessert.(We did turn down the cheese cart, which may have been a mistake in the sense that it looked interesting, but was absolutely necessary to keep us from exploding.) My companion had an interesting tripartite composition of mild yoghurty cheese with black pepper, honey ice cream, and caramel. I had a «baba de rhum», which was a sweet cake soaked with orange-scented glaze, and served in the following spectacular fashion. After the cake was laid before me and sliced in half, the sommelier rolled up, let me taste a selection of 15+ year-old rums(which he poured generously and left on the table afterwards, free of charge), and then he poured my favorite one over the cake. This was topped off with a vanilla bean flecked whipped cream to make the ultimate sweet boozy decadent dessert. I ate about half of it and considered it a good effort. Of course, before we even got our desserts the petit fours started showing up. We were served no fewer than 9 squares of nut praline-filled chocolates, along with an entire bowl of chocolate truffles and a tray of 8 macarons(in chocolate and vanilla flavors, for two people!), just as a pre-dessert warmup. After we pushed away our half eaten desserts and lay back in our chairs, swollen bellies bursting through our required fancy attire, we meekly asked for the check. After they consented, they gave us the post-dessert palate cleanser of … even more dessert: an entire cart of nougat, candied fruit, raspberry jellies, and home-made marshmallows(in vanilla and chartreuse flavors). We started sobbing quietly as we realized how much delicious food we were leaving on the table here.(Hopefully the wait staff gets to gorge themselves on the leftovers after each shift!) And of course, as we paid up, the waiter kindly filled a paper sack with caramels for us.(We stole a few macarons for later when no one was looking.) On our way our we were also handed a complementary sachet of sea salt.(Perhaps that goes without saying at Michelin *** establishments?) All in all, this was quite an experience. Certainly the best 2.5−3 hour lunch extravaganza that I’ve ever eaten for the price of a small automobile. My recommendation? If you can afford to eat here, go for it.(I believe there are cheaper *** meals in Paris, but I doubt they are cheaper by much. And this one comes in extremely large portions, with a sparkly chandelier to gaze at.) No wifi, though!

One of the bad boys of food and the one with the most Michelin stars. Had lunch for four hours including the menu dégustation and it was very, very good. The dining room is spacious, the walls elegant and the large tables, very white with cloth. The service, the show and the food superb. Other than the price, the only criticism I have is that I like almost every other three star restaurant I have eaten at more. It’s absolutely worth the money and the time, if both are available to you while in Paris.

This place is a landmark destination in Paris… Many people come for the afternoon tea(about 4PM) just to savor the atmosphere and the yummy deserts, not to mention the $$$$$ savings over lunch or dinner! One of the highlights is when they bring you the special 3-tiered tray of delectable deserts to your table(not unlike the feeling you get when your transatlantic coach or business ticket gets upgraded to 1st class!) Since I was staying at the Hotel, they cut me some slack by allowing me to bring in my own bottle of champagne. It probably helped that they didn’t offer it on the menu: 1986 Cristal(!)

Absolutely phenomenal! I ordered 3 desserts for a total of 130 Euros(dined on Sept 23, 2010): * caramel ice cream + yogurt/soft cheese + honey ice cream = unbelievable flavors — savory, rich, complex. Need I say more? * Strawberry = astounding presentation. Unique in every way. Both my eyes & palate were on a feast. The wild strawberries were refreshing, the panna cotta & vanilla ice cream were savory, the strawberry jello was bouncy & delightful. Simply devine! * Mirabelle tart = not my favorite out of the trio, still very delicious. I paired all 3 with a 2005 Château Haut-Bergeron Sauternes. Service was attentive & superb. Jackets are required for lunch.

The service was 5 plus stars: No doubt while the food was 4 stars. We dined in November, 2010. Incredibly, memorable service that my partner paid for: We had 5+ servers for wine, water, napkin change for every dish(Oh, not all, I am not exaggerating), course dishes, and cheese. Every one was professional, and very attentive to us. The whole dining experience took appx. 4 hours, which we both felt it went so quickly. We had the Tasting Menu: Good quality, generous amount of WHITETRUFFLE on soup and chicken. Although, I usually ignore the meat at any other restaurants, I was so happy to have it. Here is why my food rating was 4: The Portuguese shrimp dish in iron pot was disappointing. Was the ingredient fresh? You bet. The server told us how«RARE» it was to be on market but C’mon! There was nothing creative about the taste or presentation.
