Poor service… a carafe of water arrived just before we paid our bill. Soup was served at room temperature, we could not tell if it was meant to be chilled or hot. We enjoy both chilled and hot soups, but this was strange. My risotto was not made with Arborio rice, rather it was tiny squares of pasta devoid of taste. Have a better déjeuner somewhere else!

On the third floor of the museum, I was a little hesitant to go in because the décor of the place was so posh. From the art murals on the ceiling to the extravagant chandeliers hanging, to the clothed tables and full place settings, I felt perhaps, I wasn’t dressed well enough being in just tee shirt and jeans. But, I stood in line anyways. I figured, I’ve come all this way, I might as well enjoy and experience more of the French cuisine. I was sat at my table and ordered a water as I looked through the menu — Be prepared though, some of the waitstaff don’t speak English. My french was good enough to order. There was a small table next to me with 2 petite french women who noticed my Tee Shirt and let me know that they loved the design. I had a small chat with them, they asked if I was Chinese and I let them know I was Hawaiian — and they just were so fascinated by me! lol My salad arrived and it was made of spring mix, artichoke hearts, large capers with stems, green olives, sun dried tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar with a large rustic cracker on top. It was simple but very delicious. For my main meal, I order the Boeuf Bourguignon and it was amazing! Of course, the entire meal was complete with a nice piece of rustic bread to sop up the amazing gravy! In total, my meal was 22 Euros and I’m glad I decided to have lunch here. Great food, nice company, and the waitress was happy to see my Batman wallet! Bön Appetit!

Ok perhaps not a 4 star but the ambiance is deserving. The beef b was actually very good especially with the wine but the special dish of the day of gnocchi and fish was not too good to say the least but with the oval all experiential of the place of the ambiance it’s well worth it especially if you want to have a pit stop to savor the moment.

You would think that such a tourist place with large crowds would have a lousy restaurant– but, not at the Orsay! It’s probably because virtually any restaurant in Paris is pretty terrific and the French have national pride in their cuisine. We visited on a typical busy day, but were seated right away and had wonderful courteous service. All our party’s dishes were delightful and well prepared. The bouillabaisse is exceptional and well worth the effort. And, of course, it’s only natural to end the meal with crème brûlée! Since the museum takes many hours to absorb — planning a pleasant break for lunch at the Orsay restaurant is perfect.

Decided to do lunch here yesterday. We were already in the Musee d’Orsay and their main restaurant was convenient. Last time I ate here was about 15 years ago and I had fond memories of the food and ambience. Hence I was looking forward to a special lunch. The place is magnificent with a fantastic view. The staff were exceptional from the moment we arrived on a busy Thursday. Hence this joint would get 5 stars if it were just for ambience and service. However, the food had some challenges. I started my meal off with a cream of mushroom soup. It was not hot enough. At 10 Euros for a bowl of soup they should heat the bowls. The soup also lacked seasoning. It needed salt/pepper and some thyme at minimum. I then had a mushroom salad decorated with bacon. It was a solid 4 star salad I would order again. The bacon was chewy yet the salad was very good. For dessert I enjoyed a classic Mont Blanc. It was a 3 to 4 star example of a Mont Blanc, a dessert I love. I did enjoy it. My lunch partner had the veal. It was awful at 22 Euros. If they brought me the veal I would have sent it back immediately. It was poorly cooked and cut. It was challenging to eat. Would I eat here again? I’m not sure. The location is wonderful when you’re already in the Musee d’Orsay; however, the food clearly has challenges.

Mal venu…) Une très bonne expérience!!!

I cannot believe the number of negative reviews for this place. I came here based on a few reviews that raved about this place. Everything from the décor to the food was superb. The ceiling paintings and the sculptures make this restaurant truly luxurious and elegant. Fun Fact: this restaurant actually served distinguished guests from the World’s Fair when it was held in Paris. I had the best dessert of my life here, and that says a lot since I am a dessert fanatic! I had the red wine poached pear with hibiscus sorbet and my god was it good. The food was delicious as well, thought I must say I went in May 2014 so i dont remember exactly what i had, but I know it was pretty good. It is a good place to eat after walking around looking at paintings all day. Plus, who doesn’t want to eat like royalty?

Enjoyed a delicious lunch in the very elegant café at the Musee D’Orsay after touring this wonderful museum(one of my favorites). The food & service were excellent and the gorgeous interior was so beautiful it was surreal. I envisioned myself dining in the 19th century!

The setting: This restaurant is situated on the first floor of the museum and the setting reminded me of some of the rooms of the Versailles museum … think high painted ceiling, lots of gold and big chandeliers. The seats and tables, verry modern, contrasted with the rest of the room. The food: We ordered 2 times the dessert of the day(you can actually choose which one you liked) and one hot drink for 10,50 euro/person. You can’t really call that cheap but seems not unusual for Paris. Friends, when I showed them the picture of the desserts, thought it was a picture of the famous Angelina. I loved the peach-pie. The éclair was a bit to sweet to our tast. The staff: Waiters in fine clean black and white formal outfit. Perfectly helped in English. Would I go again: I’d definitly will try some of the other cakes, pie and éclairs when visiting musée d’Orsay

2 stars because part of the enjoyment of eating there is the place itself. However, the food was not very good. The fixed menu entrée, plat, dessert, ½ bottle red or white wine, still or gassy water, and tea or coffee for 57E is fine if the food were better. The starters were actually decent, in our group of 6 case we had the terrine and scallop carpaccio. The food after the entrée(fish and chips, veal tagliatelle) were bad, although the fish and chips were more passable than the over cooked tagliatelle with gamy and dry veal. The deserts(fruit tarte and poached pear) were nothing to speak of. The poached pear with hibiscus sorbet tasted like floral soap(my mom washed my mouth out with soap when I was young and bad, so I have a reference point). However, despite the lackluster, probably Metro provided(yes, the Metro and frozen food debate is de rigueur), food, the experience was enjoyable.

Beautiful restaurant, obviously a must-see if you’re in Paris. Overpriced food, we had a foie gras tartine that was not what I expected and was rather disgusting to be honest. The bottle of champagne that we had was very nice and came iced. I’d go back just for a glass of wine.

My guidebook recommended this spot for lunch and I figured, we could give it a whirl since it was convenient to our itinerary. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. First off, its absolutely jaw-dropping beautiful in this restaurant. The ceiling is luxuriously painted — I spent the bulk of my lunch just looking up! There are also several lovely statues situated throughout the restaurant. The chandeliers are also quite stunning! The menu isn’t extensive, and to me, isn’t particularly french, but since this is a touristy place, I assume they’re catering to the palates of a touristy crowd. No problem with me! I was pleased to see several reasonably priced menu options. I quickly settled on the 22 euro appetizer+main combo, selecting the caesar salad and mushroom risotto. I also ordered an iced tea to go with it, which ended up being extremely refreshing after our long walk from the Opera House to the d’Orsay(via a stop at Place de la Concorde and l’Orangerie). The petite caesar salad was a surprise. First off, its HUGE! It also came with grilled chicken. It wasn’t the best caesar I’ve ever had, but after that long walk, it was refreshing and delicious and I ate the whole thing. Hubby and I easily could have split it and I wish we had, just to save some euros. My mushroom risotto was tasty — again, not the best I ever had, but great fuel for our day of museum trekking. Hubby won the prize — he ordered the fish and chips, which may have been the best I’ve ever had outside of Ireland. The fish was delicately battered and fried, but had terrific flavor and crunch to it. The fries were also super tasty, and oddly enough, wrapped in Obama newspaper articles. Hmm. Both main courses were huge, and again, very splittable. They offer carafes of water, so if you’re looking to save some euro, don’t get the bottled water — just get the carafe! Service was so-so. I think that they were understaffed for a Saturday as it was clear that our waitress had too many tables to manage. For this reason, it wasn’t the speediest of lunches, but the beautiful ambience really made me not want to rush anyway. I would definitely recommend this café if you’ve planned a super duper busy museum day! Menu found here:

This elegant museum restaurant offers a welcome break to weary art lovers. Although the al la carte menu looked good, the formula of the day offered a main and dessert for 16 Euros which was a bargain in such a nice spot with full waiter service. We had well cooked white fish in a light creamy sauce with Dill and a small mound of Gnocchi flavoured with a little Tomato and Pancetta. The serve was ample for lunch especially as it was followed by an Iles de Flottantes or a chocolate Brownie. A glass of Muscadet and an espresso rounded out a very acceptable meal. Payment was at the table and although crowded the wait staff coped admirably.

I was told that the restaurant was originally where the non-commeners would wait for the train. Since being converted to an art museum the room become a restaurant. It is beautiful, with sparkling chandeliers and large windows with great views. The food however, was the worst I had in Paris. I also felt it was a bit pricey. We had to wait in line as it was busy. Once we were seated the service was slow. I find it frustrating to have to put that much effort into obtaining your check. My cousin and I had the daily special of chicken with fettuccine with a tomato based sauce. I noticed another reviewer mentioned this same dish and described it as «lightly flavored». We described it as «no flavor». The chicken was cooked fine, it was not dry, the noodles were cooked fine, not overcooked. But that was all. It was so bland neither of us finished. Other members of our group had the fish and chips and the salad. The fish and chips were good. The fish portion was small. I highly recommend the museum(it is amazing) and peek into the room, but eat elsewhere.

The food is not great, but it is definitely a beautiful room to dine in. You are definitely paying for the dinning experience. Had the lobster bisque, which did not have much flavor. It was just a soup base, no lobster. Also had the duck burger and thick cut fries, six of them. Not too much flavor in the burger either, I wanted to smother it in ketchup. The dipping sauce for the fries were probably the only thing with flavor, it was pretty good for the six fries, but not enough to use for e burger. I would recommend getting a cup of tea and sitting in the dining area… Eat elsewhere.

This is a special place. The food here is very good, but not the best in Paris. However the room is AMAZING. It is dining in a palace ballroom and will make you feel like royalty. Or at least like you were invited to eat with royalty. I had a smoked salmon tart. It was small and served on a thin pastry crust on a bed of broccoli purée. Sandra had the daily special of chicken and fettucini. It was very lightly flavored and she was disappointed but I think it was as intended. Service was good. This is a popular place so expect a line. Their price fixed menu is about € 20 and includes a main and fancy dessert. Not a bad deal.

What a breathtaking restaurant space. Flooded with light and covered in murals and chandeliers, this is a must-see while visiting the museum. Their tea service includes a great deal of a generous portion of cake and a hot beverage for around 8 Euro. I definitely expected the prices to be higher.

Gorgeous space, decent food. You definitely pay for the privilege of eating at the museum. Or possibly for the privilege of not having to wait in the security line a second time had you left. That’s fine. Most museum restaurants are a bit pricey. But given how knock you on your ass fantastic most of the things we ate in Paris were, this was one of my least memorable meals of the trip. Add in a few hiccups with the service, and we’re solidly in 3 star territory.

This is a must if you’re in the museum! The food is simply divine, as is the décor. Make sure you get a window seat so you can look out over Paris. The group of 6 that I was with were all highly impressed with their dishes, and we had a great variety between us. It is quite pricey, but with the décor, views and lush food, it should be expect. You can also book before you go to save queueing.

Beaucoup trop bruyant !

The Musee d’Orsay is one of my favorite spots in Paris, and this little restaurant just makes it all the more appealing. We had an absolutely lovely experience here and recommend it as highly as possible. The room is absolutely gorgeous and a fantastic break from walking and art gazing. The room is as much a feast for the eyes as the museum! Fantastic wine list and absolutely delicious, healthy salads — very vegan, vegetarian friendly and with some delicious fish as well. Yep, it’s a bit overpriced, but not terribly so. We were sad not to have an appetite for a full meal here and will be returning with empty stomachs next time in order to have a meal to enjoy while digesting the art. Try to get a table by the windows if you can.

The room is utterly gorgeous, make sure you sit near the window to take advantage of the beautiful view. I also had the yummiest Caesar salad and chocolat chaud, a slightly unusual but trés delightful combination. So far so good, but unfortunately it is very pricey, they seem to have got a bit confused that, although they are a beautiful restaurant with very tasty food, they are still situated in a public museum where food should not be that expensive. Hence, me and my partner opted to share the Caesar salad, fortunately it was a pretty decent portion and sufficed as a pleasant alternative to the usual museum café option of a pre packed sandwich.

A tester!
