Food was beautifully presented and came out very quickly. Service was fast… but I think too fast as we didn’t even get to finish our apertifs before all the food starting coming out. Overall, we felt extremely rushed… but I guess the food made up for it. We order the smoked salmon that came with 2 blinis and shreds of granny smith apple. I would definitely recommend this. The portion was good and everything tasted very fresh. For the main, I had the le poisson merlu(hake fish) and it was cooked to perfect. One of the best tasting fish I’ve ever had actually. Lastly, for dessert I had the lemon tarte and it was huge and extremely satisfying. I’d come back… but if you want warm and inviting service, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Courez-y !

Better than #1 Restaurant per LA Times & #4 Restaurant in the US! Same month, we ate at Providence in LA(#1−2 years in a row) and Girl & the Goat in Chicago(#4 in the US). L’AG dishes were thoughtful in planning, preparation & presentation. They were not only beautiful to look at but truly delicious, providing a unique culinary experience. I’m back in LA and still craving the seared fois gras dish. One of the top 3 restaurants we’ve eaten at during our quarterly trips to Paris. A hidden gem!

Courez-y!

Great French Bistro! Small and quaint inside, very nice ambiance. We had done research and made reservations here in advance of our trip. The servers were all very nice and helpful, they tried to speak English with us, the attempts were more than helpful and a nice gesture. The food was excellent, presentation is incredible. Every dish looked like a piece of art. The menu choices were fairly limited but enough that you could find something you liked. They also have specials on a board they will show to you. We enjoyed the pork belly, it was so rich and delicious. They paired the wines they recommended for us with our meal. Lastly the price was so reasonable, less expensive than we spend on dinner back home in the States.

Although I’m neither French nor Parisian, I feel like a local. So I try to avoid touristy areas, preferring local off the beaten path restaurants/bistros. The 6eme and the 7eme arrondissements is sometimes known as «Little America» for a reason. But what a find. This restaurant serves delicious, BEAUTIFULLY presented dishes and for the area which is known to be very«chi-chi» the prices were very, very reasonable; 3-courses for 28 €. They used edible flowers and micro-leafs such as «nasturtium leaves» with the latter not commonly used in France, but it did not distract from the meal. In fact, it gave it a touch of elegance. My favorite dishes were the pea sauce on JJ’s entrée, and for the plat, definitely the veal. The service is excellent. Typical of France, you all begin your meal when everyone is served. And, because they made in error in giving us all the same entrée, our waiter said enjoy it and we’ll bring you your desired entrée as well, so that way we would not have to wait and can all commence at the same time, thumbs up for that. Would I go back, in a heartbeat!

Cozy French Bistro… Pros: Great tasting food at a reasonable price. Cons: Staffing was somewhat low so service slowed as patrons arrived. Suggestion: Probably most alternatives on the menu will be good choices. Star Ratings: — Overall: 5 — Food Quality: 5 — Food Quantity: 5 — Dining Room Attractiveness: 4 — Menu: 5 — Service: 5 — Noise: 4 — Price: 5 — Value: 5 — Restrooms: N/A First time… in fact the first dinner… ever in Paris. Where to go? The answer: When in France choose French food. But where? After carefully researching the choices near our hotel near the Left Bank, we selected Restaurant AG. It was a good decision. Location: About 2 blocks south of Blvd Saint Germain on Rue Clement. Easy access from a ton of places, either by car, train or old fashioned foot. Exterior: Another example of the restoration of a very old building. Attractive, yet far from ostentatious. Fits into the neighborhood perfectly. Interior: Like a cozy French bistro. The place is fairly small and the tables justifiably close together with enough breathing room to stop a step shy of claustrophobia. Furnishings and table settings are well appointed, but not stuffy or snooty. Menu: Fairly brief, though most of the items piqued our interest. Perhaps as a nod to its bistro background, there are more appetizers or «starters» than anything else. Food: We «started» with crustacean ravioli in a lobster sauce. Heavenly. The 4 excellent slices of bread came in mighty handy as a mop for the remaining juice. We split 2 of the 5 entrees: Turbot fillet with seasonal vegetables and the chef’s «vegetarian creation»(that’s what it said on the menu… literally). Whatever he or she did was about as good as food gets. We could have eaten it all night, or at least for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The combination of both dishes was just amazing. For dessert, I had their Mont Blanc… chestnut ice cream and dabs of sweet whipped cream draped with chestnut sauce. My favorite spouse had sorbet with meringue and 2 shortbread biscuits. Wine List: Surprisingly reasonable. Almost cheap compared to what I expected. However, we decided to go with champagne, a dry white Louis Roderer for 70 Euros… about the same price as in the U.S. An excellent choice! Service: Top notch to start(we were literally the first people to be seated at 7PM), but things gradually got slower as the place filled. However, service was nothing if not cordial and helpful… even if the number of patrons acted as a growing weight on the backs of the 3 servers and their 2 assistants. Our guy said many nearby restaurants are closed on Mondays, so his gets extra busy. I’d say fine, but if it’s something you expect, why not staff for it? Price: Moderate. We spent 154 Euros before the tip. Value: Really good. Based on the USD exchange rate at the time, that’s $ 160−165…very similar to what we’d pay at home in California… if you could find such a Parisian bistro. On our(or your) next trip to Paris, one of the dinners will definitely be at Restaurant AG.
