The Mazet

Un vrai pub à l’anglaise/irlandaise (j’avoue je né saurais pas faire la différence). Un lieu très sympathique pour boire une bonne pinte de bière, regarder le sport, se retrouver entre amis etc. Déco bristish typique des pub, gros canapés en cuir, table haute. Le pub est assez exigu et né dispose que de peu de places mais ce n’est pas désagréable de rester debout autour d’une table haute ou au comptoir. Ambiance conviviale et d’un certain âge (c’est à dire pas d’étudiants en quête de beuverie à base de mauvaise bière). Les prix son assez élevés compter 6 € la pinte de bière la moins cher. Pas d’happy hours le week end (assez dissuasif pour les petits budgets qui veulent faire la fête toute la nuit). Pourtant l’avantage du Mazet est qu’il ferme à 5h du matin ! ce qui est assez rare pour un pub dans le coin.

Y étant allé juste avant la sortie de Spectre, je dois avouer que j’ai été déçu par ce pub.
Il possède quelques points positifs. Il est bien situé, plutôt esthétique, assez grand (sur deux étages) et abordable (avec un happy hour de 18h à 21h en semaine et une pinte alors à 5 euros)
Toutefois la carte des bières est médiocre (que des marques industrielles type Heineken ou 1664). Je vous déconseille la British Bulldog, infâme et sans le moindre gout.
C’est un deux étoiles sévère certes, et qui pourrait vite monter à trois ou quatre, mais on est en droit d’attendre autre chose en terme de qualité de bière lorsque l’on se rend dans un pub

This is by FAR my most FAVORITE BAR IN PARIS!!! It’s cheap and I always meet really cool people every time I go. It’s a great place to run into fellow travelers and share stories. Plus the music is great with live music on Thursdays and a dj on the weekends. this is my spot!

Le meilleur jour pour venir c’est clairement le jeudi pour la musique live et les prix étudiants sympa.
Après l’ambiance et les prix dans le quartier sont tellement à chier que je recommande le Mazet.

My son and I were in Paris for a few weeks. He loved this bar. The age in under 30 maybe 25. Great live music and cheap drinks with special most of the nights and happy hour. Perfect for the kids. Everyone speaks English.

I lived in Paris for 6 months and this place was one of my favorites. Everyone speaks English and you’re not going to be rubbing elbows with any fancy Frenchies, but it’s a cool place with friendly people. I made some great friends there and would have been lost without them. Live music and DJ’s throughout the week along with some decent deals. The staff is great, too! The Mazet is one of the things I miss most about my time in Paris!

If you’re from an Anglophile country and under age 25, this place will warm the cockles of your English-​speaking heart. The patrons are young and not particularly well-​mannered, and most of them are tourists looking for an escape from French culture. There are a smattering of locals in here, but I’d say the majority inside were exchange students, Americans studying abroad and travelers from Australia or Canada. The bartenders are English and clearly looking more to have a good time than provide stellar service. That’s ok, the bar in general is fun with an upbeat atmosphere, just nothing very remarkable or French about it. Guinness was under-​average. Tried a couple of mixed drinks and found them to be less than mediocre as well. Loud American music and lots of students doing shots.
Overall, an okay place to grab a drink if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here. I can see how it could turn into the favorite «local» for English-​speakers abroad. If you want a more authentic French student experience, head down over to Le Quartier Latin and rue Mouffetard. If you want more of a French bar experience, keep walking past this place — there are other wineries and pubs in the area that are not as touristy as this one.

C’est cool ! De la belle music !! En général il y a beaucoup de monde !! Et peu de places assises! Mais c’est sympa comme pub !!

I spent 2 weeks in Paris over the last 5 months. Wine is just not my thing, so I was on a constant search for a good beer. The Mazet was there to save the day. Good music and friendly staff was the difference in the end.

A fun places for drinks, especially since the bartenders speak English. Seemed like lots of American there, but I also met French and Moroccans. It got pretty crowded but not to the point where it wasn’t any fun. Solid music playlist, if you like American music. Drinks were good. I recommend desperados, which is a beer with a tequila shot, or 1664, another delicious beer.

Great place, especially for English speakers. Bartenders and owners are amazing, live music some nights as well.

Great, relaxed English pub, located in a very beautiful (and very Parisian) alley /​mews in the Latin Quarter. Nice setting will a laid back vibe, this is a nice place to sit and people watch, or to come with a small group. Very friendly bartenders seem to know a good number of the patrons, and are very friendly for a chat.
Highly recommended!

Tester en afterwork en semaine et donc happy hour ce bar est dans un quartier plutôt animé où il fait bon s’asseoir en dégustant un bon mojito ou une bonne bière.
Le service est agréable et la fréquentation plutôt bonne.
J’ai cru comprendre en partant qu’il y aurait un petit concert ce qui est plutôt sympa non? J’y retournerai certainement !

Bar à éviter si vous n’avez pas 4 grammes d’alcool !!! C’est un peu glauqueje n’ai aucunement reconnu le bar dans les avis précédent.pour finir votre soirée affalé dans les fauteuils pourquoi pasmais si vous voulez passer un moment sympa entre potes, bofchangez de lieu.

Un pub sympa à l’influence plutôt anglaise.
De l’espace, des matchs retransmis, des bières classiques plus une grimbergen rouge (aux fruits) et une Newcastle Brown Ale (pas la meilleure Ale, loin de là, mais bon).
Quand je suis rentré, j’ai demandé à la charmante petite brune derrière le bar: Vous avez de la Ale?
Elle né savait pas ce que c’était! Quand même…
A part ça, les prix sont corrects, Happy hour intéressant et DJ les vendredis et samedis… Mais bon, cest très jeune.

ME GUSTA.
A deux pas du Hideout (d’où l’on s’est méchamment fait refouler «parce qu’il y a trop de monde»), ce bar est cinquante mille fois plus cool (déjà, gros point positif, le mec à l’entrée est trop chou. Et gentil.) ! Y a d’la place (mais pas trop quand même. Disons qu’on peut s’accouder au comptoir et danser mais qu’on est un peu serrés).
La musique est chouette, l’ambiance est là, et ça ferme tard. Un cool endroit pour finir la soirée.

Comment né pas se laisser séduire par ce pub dès plus agréable. Pour preuve, un dénommé Jim Morrison était l’un des habitués il y a quelques années. Les grands canapés de cuir vous accueillent pour ceux désirant pachardiser tandis que les tables hautes et le comptoir sont parfait pour lever le coude entre amis. Le tout dans un décors assez bois, spacieux et quelques écrans pour les matchs de rugby. Compter 5,5 € la pint (hors happy hour) et 8 à 12 euros pour les cocktails. Un peu onéreux, certes, mais c’est dans la tendance du quartier. En revanche, le bon son pop rock et rétro sera être la plus value notable. Les vendredi et samedi, un DJ pour des sonnorités plus électro vient faire tourner les platines… le son monte fort, un peu trop pour parler tranquillement. Pour les anglophones… enjoy a little chat with a few mates… J’y vais et y retourne très souvent!

Le Mazet est un petit bar sportif sur la rue animée de Saint André des Arts, à la fréquentation très jeune, mais à la musique très entraînante. Quelques tubes des années 1990, dont les clips sont diffusés sur un écran, garantissent des sourires nostalgiques. Bons cocktails, staff super sympa et une ambiance à la fois détendue et festive.
A noter que c’est aussi un bar historique puisque Jim Morrison y passait de nombreuses soirées !

The Mazet has the feel of a once-​great expat bar and I would describe the atmosphere these days as hit or miss. You could have the time of your life or you could be the only people in the bar!
Despite this the bar can’t be faulted for its great location and cheap drinks. I’ve fallen foul of the dangerous Ladies Night deal before: 1 Shot + 1 Cocktail for a fiver — ludacrously cheap for Paris.
Another plus point is that they have live music on a regular basis, the quality of which is usually good. But coupled with the fact that it may be a quiet night, the live music can sometimes fall flat.
I would recommmend giving it a shot and if you want to make it a stop on the way to another expat bar, you’re close to The Moose, Coolins or The Frog & Princess. Also you have late night options from here: The Wagg (cheesy) or Pub St Germain (posh).

English-​style pub in the 6^th. arrondisement (2 minute walk from the Carrefour de l’Odeon on Boulevard St. Germain) serving lager and beer by the pint plus Bulmers cider in bottles. Sky TV, showing music videos, live football etc etc. Good atmosphere and popular with ex-​pats as well as many locals. Frequent happy hour deals in the afternoon/​early evening. Open ’til late.
I have found that sometimes it is ram-​packed and at other times you can be just about the only people in there!
