Warm hospitality and delicious grilled food are the hallmarks of this restaurant. They are located half way down a really steep cobblestone street in the middle of the city. They’ve got a really nice vine covered outdoor patio big with a number of tables for a great evening meal on a warm night. Many of their menu items are from the grill and while they aren’t truly French, quite tasty and well presented. We tried the beef fillet(very good) and the grilled chicken skewer(delightful spices) and of course a half bottle of a local wine(yum!) followed by profiteroles(definitely not French but delicious) There were only two servers but they worked hard and did a good job keeping everyone supplied and happy. All in all a pleasant meal in a great setting.

This was a really great place for lunch. It didn’t seem nearly as touristy as the other restaurants in St. Emilion, though we were only there for one meal so I don’t have much to compare it to. To start, they provided a lovely amuse-bouche that was some kind of cold cucumber soup. A very nice touch. I ordered the fixed price menu which came with an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert. I ordered the goat cheese salad as my appetizer. It was perfect — plenty of high quality goat cheese, a nice simple salad underneath, and a pleasant dressing. My sister ordered this as her whole meal; it’s not nearly enough for a 6’3 guy like me, but she claimed she was satisfied. For my main course, I ordered the«salmon wrapped in vine leaves.» The title is undoubtedly gimmicky, intended to lure in all of the tourists who are in St. Emilion only for the wine(guilty!) but it was still tasty. The sauce was mostly butter, so how can you go wrong — taste-wise, anyway? I wanted a simple dessert to save room for one of the bakeries elsewhere in the town, so I just ordered the sorbet. I was pleasantly surprised that even the sorbet was unique, quite possibly homemade. It came with two flavors, I believe they were raspberry and passionfruit, as well as some whipped cream. A great end to a great meal.
