Gus(pronounce goose apparently) is a cute restaurant in Saint Remy. It is a true seafood restaurant and most of the items have a seafood element. As an American I have several observations for out-of-towners: 1. Nobody really spoke english, so we were left to try and translate the menu on our own. Several of the dishes came out differently that we were expected, so get ready to roll with it. 2. The French do not do seafood as well as they do in the U.S. Blasphemous, I know, but really it is true. For instance they don’t cook their mussels and the crab(still it the shell) is not seasoned the way I am used to(let alone they don’t have Old Bay!). 3. You need to order your dessert up front if you are craving some sweetness at the end of your dish. The dessert was fine, but nothing worth picking out up front, so don’t stress. I like the atmosphere in Gus, but the food was meh. If you are a fan of french seafood, you may like it more.
