Carpaccio

Large portions, spotty service. Carpaccio and fish great, pasta very non Italian. Outside tables are a good place to spot rare and exotic cars (driven right by).

Had VIP treatment from this amazing restaurant right on the waterfront in the bay of Villefranche-​sur-​mer. Happened to be staying in the apartment next door, whose owner was evidently a huge fan of the restaurant, because the staff extended every courtesy to us. We ordered a whole bass, which they then prepared expertly for us along with all of the necessary accompaniments — and delivered it next door to us at our «secret garden» patio. The local bandol wine and this food… what a night to remember! ***Do not miss the tortellini gorgonzola!*** We ordered that tortellini twice in one night and again the next night. ). We cherish this experience of being treated as a local and all the advice and perks of knowing which local olive oil is truly the best.

Wir waren heute das erste mal im Carpaccio und waren sehr zufrieden, das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend. Das Tintenfisch-​Carpaccio ist gut und die Portion doch sehr grosszügig, leider war die Pizza am Rande arg verbrannt.

This restaurant specialises in yes you guessed it carpaccio! You can have it as starter or main, pure carpaccio or mixed with bresaola. The mains are absolutely huge so maybe stick to the starters unless you are a devoted carnivore. Carpaccio also does stuff for people who are not in love with meat. The very fresh fish can be brought to you on a platter so you can pick which one you want. The pizzas are good and so are the salads. I had an ice cream dessert last time I went, which I unfortunately have forgotten the name of. The forgetfulness might have something to do with the amount of alcohol which the sorbet was soaked in. It nearly knocked me out and it was even shared between two people.
The restaurant is slightly out of town near the beach and on the waterfront, though there is road between the tables and the sea. The road, however, have never been busy when I have been visiting (four times in the summer from 2002). The prices are normal for the area and the service is good. A nice place for lunch when on the beach of Villefranche sur Mer.

Sans faire partie des «gastros», le Carpaccio est à mon avis une très bonne table, ce qui explique ses tarifs un peu au-​dessus de la moyenne. Mais la qualité est très nettement au-​dessus de ladite moyenne, avec des viandes aussi excellentes que les poissons. Je craque d’ailleurs litérallement sur leur soupe de poissons, dont la rouille n’est pas une vulgaire mayonnaise à l’ail comme dans tant d’autres restaurants à touristes. Tout est bon, le service est à la hauteur, le cadre est très agréable et en ce qui concerne les tarifs, mieux vaut manger une seule fois au Carpaccio que trois fois dans des restaus moyens !
