The main drag in the resort/tourist area of Guam, San Vittores Road along Tumon Bay, is very much like Waikiki meets Ala Moana Mall. There are about 4 high end fashion malls, catering mostly to Japanese tourists and other Designer Brand obsessed Asian Female Tourists who are crawling all over them, looking for Coach bags, the current favorite of the Bagaholics. There are at least 4 Coach stores along this strip. Nothing says«status» to a status conscious Female shopper than the Designer Bag, something you can carry every day and pretend you are somebody. Scarves, well nobody wears them much nowadays. At least not $ 1,000 ones. Shoes? Got to match the outfit, so limited show time. Luggage? You have to travel, and then your friends won’t see them. Remember when Gucci was all the rage? Then it was Louis Vuitton. Then it was Hermes.(Well, you could only afford the scarves!) Chanel did better with Knit Suits and Make-up. Back when the masses were going to Gucci, LV, and the like, the independent refined woman chose Fendi. Clean lines, elegant clutches, nice black and olive colors. I liked Fendi for my woman. Hated Gucci and thought LV was ugly. But really, the main difference in all these bags? The letter on them! F = Fendi G = Gucci LV = Louis Vuitton C = Chanel Now, in more practical times, Coach is popular, and a lot more affordable than some of those others. What am I doing at Fendi? I had time to kill and I came here to hang out with the pretty girls, Kyoko and Song Li, in their all black uniforms, just like all the other Designer Leather Store goods workers wear.(And designer make-up retail workers wear.) Only difference between their black uniforms and all those designer bags with the same letters on them they try to sell? Their uniforms don’t cost $ 4,000! Note: Fendi has over 100 stores worlwide and sales over 1⁄3 a billion dollars in 2008.
