Absolutely adore here! I always stop in here when in Athlone. The staff and owner are so nice and accomodating no matter how busy it is. The food is a real treat as it is different tasty and affordable. Love it!

Arrived early in Athlone for an 11am appointment. Athlone, however, was largely closed at the ungodly hour of 9.30. This was the first open place I came across having marvelled at all the shuttered shops in the centre of town. However, the breakfast sandwich definitely hit the spot and the lattes were excellent. A popular spot, I reckon, with a small population if regular barfly types and it also boasted newspapers to accompany the meal which was just as well given the, um, quietness of the area. I’d come back.

Bustling café in the heart of Athlone that came recommended by a couple of locals whom we asked for a lunch recommendation. It was packed with nary a tourist in sight, so I think we were sent to the right place! The values at Corner House Bistro were some of the best we found on our trip. For € 10, give or take, I got a perfectly cooked, flavorful lamb shank with winter root vegetables. Hearty and filling, perfect for a long day out and about! My other half got a great meat and cheese plate that was ALMOST more food than he could handle… and he can really tuck one in. Delicious, affordable, and friendly service. Highly recommend stopping here for a bite to eat if you’re passing through Athlone!

Nice café in the centre of town that attempts to provide more than the standard sandwich fare Had a great mushroom breakfast served on a homemade brioche bread. And also a very nice € 2 sausage roll! Also had a try of their lunch menu. Decent portion size at a good price and a real desire to serve some good different food — like a braised pork belly with sausage and a cauliflower/celeriac mash!
