Lovely place to grab a bite, great menu options. Staff are lovely, little hidden gem in Athy

I’ve enjoyed many a breakfast and lunch in the Bay Tree. It’s a great local spot for a foodie like me. The menu is varied but not too varied. Sometimes cafes have too much going on their menu and are ‘jack of all trades and masters of none’ when it comes to providing consistent quality. I’ve enjoyed their Irish fry, Eggs Benedict, fish, Indian inspired chicken pita, chunky wedges, cakes and coffee. The prices are competitive, the staff are friendly, the décor is clean and cosy downstairs — there is more seating upstairs. They have special tapas nights which I haven’t experienced yet — they take place every few weeks on a Saturday night.

There is no space or privacy. The food is average and service is slow. The staff are very friendly and there is a good atmosphere. It is a small but a snug café /​restaurant.

Invariably, the food is great !! Great selection of food and deserts. Accommodating however some staff members can be a bit rude and one can be waiting a bit to order…

As of January 2015 wifi is gone. probably one of there most regular customers, I mostly sit not only at the same table but also in the same chair :) yep I might be going a little OCD. This is located in the center of town and 2 minutes walk from 2 car parks and on street parking so its just really handy. The coffee is great and the current staff are what makes people come back in my opinion. The remember your favorites and your likes and dislikes. There are great value items on teh menu like Pasta for example 5 Euro. It does a great breakfast and has the best gluten free menu of anywhere Ive ever been in Ireland. open seven days a week, I just wish for longer hours. You can even reserve a table and they cater…
