Clayton Hotel

Mi habitación era enorme y tenía un balcón con unas vistas chulas, a pesar de que era muy grande, se estaba muy a gusto y muy calentito.
En el restaurante de este lugar he probado la mejor pasta que he comido en Irlanda, el servicio fue muy bueno, se esforzaban por hablar castellano aunque no tuvieran porqué.
El hotel es muy grande, tiene dos zonas y máquinas con chucherías y bebidas para poder comprar. En el bar solo sirven bebidas, nada de picar con lo que acompañarlas, te mandan a la máquina.
La atención del personal muy buena y tienen un árbol en la entrada con las postales de agradecimiento de los clientes que han celebrado su boda allí.
Como en todos los establecimientos públicos en irlanda, hay wifi gratis y de muy buena calidad.

Found this hotel through a booking site. The location of this hotel is NOT near the downtown of Galway. Not sure why it says it is. If you want to take a taxi downtown, it will cost you 13 euros one way. I think this is the best way and the driver can drop you right at the heart of downtown with a great smile and some helpful tips.
The hotel has seen better days, however it is still very functional and is just fine if you are passing through. The staff was very stiff and not very friendly, but we did find this at other large hotels in Ireland. I’m sure this is because they deal with the public every day and it does take a toll.
The room was just fine and we didn’t have any major issues. The shower was a little hard to get used to however as it didn’t have a curtain or door. The breakfast was a buffet style and the staff was attentive, but stiff once again. They offered scrambled eggs which was fine with us but the older locals were upset they didn’t have fried eggs and they had to be ordered (if this matters to you).
Once again, not bad if you are passing through.

Amazing food. I haven’t had a single mediocre morsel after several meals. Beef ribs is amazing, seafood chowder arrives complex and hearty, comes with fabulous brown bread with a great flavor and mouthfeel, superfood salad is exactly that, no weak pile of depressing lettuce and unfrozen tomatoes here.

Oh I love this hotel. My room was fabulous — beyond expectation mainly because Stephanie hooked me up. She was so gracious. I also liked their cozy bar. I only wish it was not on the outskirts of Galway. I will certainly return though due to the hospitality of Stephanie. Thank you!!!

Mid week, this is really a hotel with bar food, but good quality. The menu is simple but decent, and the service is quick and friendly. You could do a lot worse!
