Nice spot in Bray and certainly worth a try if you are around. Really spacious, loads of outdoor seats and a lot of more private areas inside… menu is easy, nothing special on it, maybe pub grub — but the quality is good. Try the homemade infused water — they have glasses and jugs, choice of still or sparkling. I love it. The service is ok, again — nothing special, not very quick or overly charming… however nothing to complain.

Enjoyed a stay in one of the apartments here recently. Comfortable accommodation with double bedroom, living area with TV and 2 flip down single beds, kitchenette(with fridge, washing machine, microwave, oven, hob and all the basics you’d need) and bathroom with bath and shower. I stayed at the weekend so it was a little bit noisy at night but really didn’t disturb me. When we checked in the receptionist told us we’d have to carry our case up the stairs through the hotel building to the apartments, which was odd as it turned out the apartment building has its own door at the side and a lift! The only minor gripe from an otherwise great stay. It’s located on the shore front, roughly a ten minute walk from the train station.

Great to pop in here every couple of weeks. Usually try to sit outside, as enjoy looking out towards the sea, and Bray Seafront. Good heaters placed outside too, for cooler evenings. Menu is excellent, can’t recommend the Chicken Satay and Noodles enough! Incredible. Or the burger, extreme weather tasty. Chunky chips too. Drinks are fairly prices, and plenty of choice. Last time i was there, it was surprisingly quiet, as the place is busy most times I’m there. On this occasion, for whatever reason, being served was a bit slow! But…after that, food was amazing, good wine and beer, and good price! Would recommend to anyone.

I love summer time and Martello is one of my favorite spots during this time. Service is quick and they have a good selection of craft beers. I had meal at the bistro, which is lovely. Food was good, they have an international menu, as a starter I had calamari strips with an extra side salad and I opted for a lasagna that was delicious and it was served with a side of fries and garlic bread. Their kinder bueno cake deserves a 5 star, portions are generous and I love the place atmosphere. I just didn’t like the crows attacking the food on the outside tables.

I haven’t been here for years when I came to an engagement party. A part of the club was sectioned off for us earlier on and then we were given free access when the club started to fill up later on. I really didn’t think the place would be a busy as it was, bray is booming! Quick service complimented a decent drinks menu which included a good nber of cocktails that are available and for only € 7.5(if I can remember correctly) is good value! Giving 4 stars as I can’t really fault this pub/club and when comparing it to its competitors in the area it deserves 4!

I was really looking forward to a great breakfast and a nice cappuccino… our beverages came but alas… after 30 minutes waiting still no breakfast… GRRRR! So… we decided to check what happened. Our order was misplaced… not a good start!(rating: 1 star…) We received a complimentary tea and cappuccino, and the order was taken again.(rating: 1 star added…) Than the breakfast came very quickly: we enjoyed it very much, as their breakfast is excellent indeed.(rating: 1 star.) After all was enjoyed we asked for the bill. As a further apology they didn’t charge us… which we really did appreciated, and I was happy to add another star to my rating! I have regained my confidence in them, and will return again now indeed…

Popped in here for lunch when we came to Bray for part of the day from Dublin. Service was great — there are so many servers all helping out each table so we were never wanting for anything. Food and beer was good. We sat outside but everything was still covered so I wasn’t ever cold either. It was a bit pricey but so were all the other places along the street but at least the view was good!

Quickly. Stayed outside under the tent. Minuses: — birds everywhere — birds spooking sound system plays awful crows sounds — wooden outside tables are annoying to sit in and get up — not cheap Pluses: + even during summer heaters were on + fast service + friendly barman

Heard of it before but never made it here until now. A friend of mine was the quiz master for a table quiz in the function room so I decided for some food and drink beforehand. They have a nice, almost typical bar food menu — but with a twist. I went for their beef burger. It came with crispy onions and pink shallot and gherkin cocktail sauce and was nicely spiced. The only thing that surprised me was that I had to ask for mayonnaise — somehow I always expect in a pub to get a choice of sauces with my food. They say that they have craft beer but the only one on draft that I saw was BlueMoon — I expected a bigger range. The staff was nice, friendly and quick and it was a lovely atmosphere in the bar. The function room is upstairs in the hotel part of the building and a nicely sized room with own bar.

Out for a day in bray, dropped for a full Irish breakfast and needless to say I will never b back… A spoonful of beans literally, toast like warm bread & dirty cups… Food took 30mins to arrive & about 3mins to eat… On a plus staff seem nice…

Best food in Bray! Reasonably priced, especially the Early Bird menu :) Took away a star just because it doesn’t really suit young people like myself. That’s not the Martello’s fault though! Just warning the young ‘uns :)

The Martello is one of three of the seafront bars in Bray, the jewel in Bray’s nightlife. They know their climate with a huge front seating area and tons of gas heaters and giant umbrellas covering sections of the seating, so that no matter what the weather, you can sit outside in the air, looking at the beach, which is, probably the best thing about Bray, lets be honest. I’ve never eaten but I have spent my fair share of time in this spot and their attached nightclub«koo». They do occasionally provide table service, depending on how busy it is, which is lovely. The décor, the location, the price all great, making this a fantastic regular spot for me that i happily stand beside. If you find yourself in Bray. Stop on by!

I visited this the Martello two times so far and on both occasions had a very pleasant time. I had an early-ish lunch and a late dinner so I could see this place at two different times of the day. As I am a smoker I sat outside and even though it was very cold on both days the staff was very attentive and did not neglect people sitting out. I was never left thirsty or with a full ashtray. Granted, I wasn’t there during the busiest hours but it wasn’t a slow day either. I can’t really comment on design of the interior as I haven’t spent any time indoors(yet ;) but the outside patio/smoking section was perfect. All the gas heaters were turned on and kept the place warm and cozy. Tables are not too close to each other so even when more people came in we did not feel crowded. Last, but DEFINITELY not least is the cuisine here. I guess I love steak enough to drive 40 miles to get a good one and Martello is definitely worth it to me. € 21.50 for a 10oz Fillet Steak is a steal, considering its taste beats most of the € 27 – 30 range from Dublin. Their deep fried Brie is also delicious and I hear the vegetarian Lasagne is awesome too ;) As far as desserts go. we had cheesecake and a meringue and although it was tasty it did not break any new records, but definitely wasn’t unsatisfying. What makes Martello special to me? A meat lover and a vegetarian can sit down at one table and truly enjoy their meal, coffee and a smoke while feeling warm and cared for ;) …yeah.and next to M. is Porterhouse, they are awesome too, but more about that later.

The Martello on Bray’s seafront is a lounge bar with an extensive menu and nice views of the promenade. It’s probably one of the most popular spots in Bray. It does a roaring trade, particularly at the weekend when the hot weather draws Dubs out on the Dart to Bray. It boasts a large beer garden and this is a hive of activity and merriment when the sun comes out. The menu offers a range to suit all diners from panini and bruschetta to beef and Guinness pie and glazed duck. In fact, the term ‘pub grub’ probably doesn’t do it justice! On the downside, the interior is quite generic and characterless — it feels like that of a hotel, hardly surprising considering The Martello is actually part of the Heather House Hotel. However this doesn’t seem to deter the punters. If it’s too cold to sit outside, grab a table by the window upstairs and look out over the promenade. The bar is open late, although a lot of the young clientele will slink off into ‘The Koo’ nightclub come nightfall.

This is a big bar, on 2 levels, facing Bray Seafront. This place has everything. Carvery, bar food, late bar, live music, nightclub, but especially the all-weather terrace, where you can always enjoy your food or drink in comfort. The bar food is absolutely gorgeous, especially the steak sandwich(comes with crispy onions on top and chunky chips!). The bar is very busy on Friday and Saturday nights! I prefer to come here for food on a Sunday evening when it is a little quieter, but there is always a buzz about the place.
