Emperor Palace

Friday night I ate at Emperor’s Palace after catching up with friends at Phil Carroll’s.
I was curious to try Chinese food in Ireland. As I drove through much of Ireland even the smallest of villages had at least one Chinese restaurant. There didn’t seem to be any other ethnic restaurants apart from your occasional spotting of an Indian restaurant. So being the adventurous person that I am, I decided to try Emperor Palace.
First of all, the manager Ming is a real delight. He made sure we were looked after from beginning to end. I really appreciated his hospitality. The other staff members were wonderful as well.
We started with what is called lettuce wraps (in the US). I don’t know what’s is called on the menu but it’s ground beef, spices, and cups of lettuce. It was delicious.
For a main course we had a couple of sauteed lobsters, served on top of lo mein noodles. We had a side of asparagus. Everything was very good.
Believe it or not, they make a delicious Irish coffee. I highly recommend it.

The best Chinese restaurant ever. The steaks and sliced beef dishes are to die for. Great wine, beer and atmosphere.
