This is one of those times that I’d like to give 3 and a half stars rather than 3. O’Shea’s is a good solid pub experience. The pints are good, the food is standard but tasty and there’s a generally loads of room. The space is divided into lots of nooks and crannies of varying size so groups ranging from a few mates to the whole office can find a place to sit and there are a good few TVs if a match is on. The only negative is the public transport. The 11 bus, notoriously infrequent, stops right outside but apart from this its a good 15 – 20 minute walk to other buses/luas often making taxis necessary.

Lots of +‘s about this place — big outdoor seating area, loads of parking and always busy for a sunny after-work drink. It’s also a bit different to the rest of the pubs in the area as it’s more chilled out.

Hard to say why O’Shea’s is so compelling, but it’s our work local and we don’t ever seem to want to go anywhere else. Its comfy with lots of different alcoves and seating. Its more like a traditional pub than one of these shiny, posh coffee serving pubs you get nowadays. Its good for pints and chats. The food is not brilliant, except for when you just want sausage and chips with your pints — then its top notch! The bar staff have this pretend grumpy thing going on, but ultimately they’ve always been really nice to us and have the bit of banter. Also you can pay with cards and get cash back!

O’Sheas is just around the corner from UCD and the Belfield Business Park so it is popular as a lunch spot and convenient for after-work pints. They serve carvery lunch food from 12.30−2.30 pm Mon-Fri and then start serving dinner from 3pm. I haven’t been here for dinner yet, but at lunchtime I had to occasional soup with toast here and it’s never let me down. The prices are ok for what you’re getting, maybe a bit much for a student on a regular basis, but that’s not necessarily the clientele they’re aiming for. The staff are friendly and the pints are good. It has a lovely village pub feel to it, which is maybe a bit unusual for the upmarket area it’s in but that’s the reason I keep coming back.

One of the great family run pubs in Dublin, not for any particular reason that I can give you other than the fact that I like it! It has a nice sheltered smoking area which makes people like me feel a little less like the social outcasts we are fast becoming!
