The soup and sandwich combo here is unbelievable. Soup is always tastey and sandwiches always fresh. Lucky to be working close by.

This place started out with so much promise. Traipsing along McCurtain Street in search of somewhere to eat on a Friday night(without having to wait 45 mins for a table), we wandered in. The place was busy, and all tables marked as reserved, but the barperson spotted us, asked if we wanted food, and gave us a table straight away(brilliant). The menu didn’t have hundreds of options, but all looked tasty. Starting with salmon and crab fishcakes — the food served was fast to appear, looked good and tasted good. Then for mains I opted for a Juicy Lucy burger«2 Prime Mince Beef Burgers filled with a choice of Cheese’s, topped with Bacon, Sliced Tomato and Rocket». Sounds great, and the perfect thing for a hungry tourist. Accompanied by chips and a small salad(both were nice), the burger was where things went wrong. It may have looked massive(points awarded for quantity), but unfortunately looks can be deceiving, and the burgers themselves were dry. Walking in and having the starter, this pub was on to a 4* rating — such a shame the burgers didn’t deliver and went for quantity over quality. Good for a look in, and service was great, but you might want to go elsewhere for a burger.

Disappointing last meal in cork & I had such high hopes for such a well rated(per Unilocal) establishment. The only semblance of a gastropub Gallaghers has are the wooden cutting boards they serve the food on. The seafood platter is a complete waste of a crustaceans life. 3 tapas items that lack flavor &1 decent crab or fish ball thing, but at least they serve w/a side of 2 day old bread so you can fill up somehow. This joints version of the juicy lucy includes 2 meat patties(no stuffed cheese in the meat) aka, the McDonald’s double quarter pounder(which packs more flavor than this). At least the steak fries were nice & crisp! Some other Unilocaler commented on a yummy bread pudding, I wouldn’t know, we bounced in search for better food. Ps, our bartenders recommendation for a lager… coors light! Cause upon hearing my(american) english accent, he knew I wanted crappy beer from the homeland. Not how I roll!

Visited April 2015: «Very Trendy Spot» We checked out this place on social media, and learned that it was was live open mic night. Our waitress was prompt and courtesy. I had the crab tarts, Chicken Curry, and bread pudding with croissant. I asked for some beer/cider advice, and the bartender came over to assist. After providing me with my alcohol, she came back to see how I liked it and told me that it was one of her favorite ciders. All of the food was incredible, and I took some of the curry back with me for the following day.

Being from the states a pale ale is less hoppy than an IPA. The bartender recommended the Franciscan Wells Pale Ale — turns out she skipped an important word — India. The location is great and we loved the atmosphere but not a big fan of the beer recommendation. We did not eat.

By far the best roast I have ever had! Service was not the fastest but I think that’s how small pubs work. Food Prices were pretty good but drinks were a little costly. Overall 5 stars because of how good the roast was. They also had a great live band on Sunday which was nice!

They met me well on my first day in Cork, they gave me some ideas of places to see and were very friendly. They were among my first impression of Ireland, and of course, they were amazing. The drinks are outstanding, and the bartenders are masterful with them. Then there’s the food they have, it isn’t just«Pub food», it is actual food. I had this cheddar cheese sandwich with aged cheddar, and I swear, it was the best sandwich of my life. The pleasantness of the bartenders, the hot and delicious food, the friendly locals and amazing drinks… There is absolutely no other pub in Cork that I will remember with as much fondness as this one. I shed a tear when I had to leave. Maybe one day I will return, and should I ever go back to Ireland, I will stop in here again. A friend recommended Gallaghers to me, and I would recommend them to anybody

Great place to go for big groups as the food comes out nice and fast(although the staff did seem to favour efficiency over friendliness…) I got the salmon crab cakes and a side of roasted veg as a main and it was gorgeous. The salmon cake was delicious, the crab cake probably a little on the salty side, but the roasted parsnip & carrots that I added to the mix were just bee-yoo-tee-ful. Sweet, but not too sweet, roasted but not too-roasted –ja feel? Went for brunch the next day as it was the only place in the area that seemed to provide that kind of nice food set-up in the area, and I think we all agreed it was really tasty but a little on the small side!

It is a real«in pub» with the best days over, since the interior needs urgent works done, but it has atmosphere. Sitting in there, you have a nice view on McCurtain Street. The staff is friendly and quick. We ordered seafood and meat tapas, which was really good, quality and quantity was excellent. The bread was perfect. Tapas Portion was at Euro 14. Before we left the live music started, it would have been worth to stay. 4 stars only for the used interior and the dirty table.

Good food. Good beer. Nough said. But apparently that review is not long enough. So I will also say good atmosphere and good company.

The bar itself has a hipster feel to it. Modern décor good and mellow mood lighting. Multiple beers on tap like most of the bars in the area. Daily specials include a pie, a hot pot, warm salad, and several other offerings. The whiskey choices and other liquors choices are pretty good. Free wi-fi is available. On the night I came, I had a braised lamb shoulder hot pot with seasonal vegetables. The veggies were cooked well and not overcooked. The lamb was perfect. The gravyn though flavorful, was really salty. Overall good experience and I would return to and try something else on the menu.
