So this review is not quite a month late but I am fairly confident everything I am about to write still applies. If not, we can just chalk up my four-star rating due to the music nerd in me sharing a drink with the restaurant snob in me while The Pogues’ «A Rainy Night in Soho» plays — it may be a bit apocryphal, but it was raining on the night we went to SoHo, and while that may have indirectly swayed me to the rating you see before you, this place has so much more going for it than coincidental climate and 80s music references. SoHo came recommended from our guide, and it is easy to see why. The place is located in the heart of Cork, not too far but not too close to everything else you would want to stop by(the university is a few blocks away, as an example). And the place is positively massive, with patio seating giving way to bar tables, a small venue for a band/DJ, lounge seats in the windows and even an upstairs. SoHo may be its own self-contained city within Cork, actually. We got a table right away on a Friday night in the windows, not too far from a band running through an interesting setlist of everything from Johnny Cash(yay!) to The Eagles(boo…) and even Peter Gabriel-less Genesis(…yay!). Our waitress was under attack by, I believe, six tables(both inside and out) but she could not have been nicer, more polished and efficient. A few of these reviews point out the somewhat slow service but we felt the pace was even and relaxed. Of course, it does not matter how smooth the service is if the food and drinks are forgettable, and I am glad to say SoHo has the culinary chops to just about justify the lengthy waits this place probably goes on during the later hours. We ordered a round of chicken wings and nachos to start with, and both were great precursors to the meal, buoyed by a fantastic array of bar drinks, from a strong gin and ginger ale, to a margarita and even some mixed concoction that came served in a red, working watering can — I ordered the drink in the watering can because come on now: how many times can you say you drank out of a gardening tool while your Mom looked at you questioning where it all went wrong? The entrees were good. Not great, not bad, but good. Salmon was fine, the salads were decent and my steak and cheese on ciabatta sandwich was almost too much of a challenge to finish. This is clearly a place that thrives on the bar crowd and the nightlife, so if you are coming here expecting an entrée to knock your socks off, you may have to search thoroughly for it. I’m sure it is on the menu; I just did not find it. However, let’s talk dessert. By now, the band had given way to a DJ spinning a pretty wide variety of tunes and the place continued to fill in. It can get loud in here but we never once found it overwhelming. You will not need to be doing sign language to one another to keep the conversation moving, which is good being that you will probably need those hands to eat what ended up being the best part of the meal: a strawberry shortbread creation that I imagine would have no trouble taking other desserts hostage in the great Baked Goods War of 2015. Really, cocktails and this dessert would make for a fabulous evening. And, incidentally, SoHo should be a place you try at least once some night. It’s bustling with activity, the prices are fair, the staff are all sharp, the drinks are«out there» in the best way possible and the food is decent. Not a bad way to start, or finish, your weekend!

Nice ambiance, useful staff and delicious food! The place is well decorated and spacious. Very good for sport venues because of the huge screen!

In town for one night and Soho was recommended by our cabbie. We enjoyed it! Nice, fun, club-like atmosphere with a good looking menu! We had the monkfish as an app and then the meat sampler rock with Pinot noir. Very pleased! Would love to come back and try more.

Went hear for breakfast on a rainy morning. Friendly enough service… they did seem to be a bit annoyed to be in work on a bank holiday Monday. Nice food.

The SoHo seem to be a place-to-be, but I ask myself, what for… 1. The music is always too loud. 2. The food is just average quality, the prize for it much too high. 3. In case you get the food you ordered, you waited much too long for it. 4. The staff is always on the run, you have not even finished talking to them and they are already gone. 5. There is not enough staff on weekends. That is the time a bar makes the money! 6. If you are standing at the bar, it might be that the staff behind the bar ignores you. All in all, I gave them a few chances to change my first impression and experience, instead they confirmed it. I am done with SoHo.

I have been to SoHo on several occasions. I have not been impressed. On the last visit on an early quiet afternoon after waiting for quite some time before we could catch the attention if a waiter, we asked if there was seating upstairs available. The server’s response was«Which upstairs?». The place advertises having four levels. We were then guided to a table that had broken glass shards on the chair, probably from the previous night. No effort was made to remove these by the waiter. Appalling service and the food does certainly not make up for it.

I love soho. The food maybe on the pricey side but it is fantastic. The chicken wings and Quaesadillas all the way. Great menu, lots of cocktails, 4 floors, nice warm smoking areas and friendly staff. If you are lucky enought to get a booth then enjoy the comfort and you can even pour your own drink from the taps on the table. live music some nights and video dj other nights. Its also open late ate weekends. What more could you want? Soho BOOM

Always have a great time when i come here. There are 4 levels the ones you need to know are the bar on the ground floor and the restaurant on the first floor. Lots of atmosphere and will often have bands playing on a saterday night. If you book in advance you may be able to get a table where you can pour your own beer which is always fun untill you get the bill :) Also alot of fun for sporting events as they have a big projector that shows the games at the front of the pub. Awesome pub Now I have eaten at the restaurant and I must admit i am really honestly disappointed. The service took quite a long time(It was new years eve so this will be forgiven) But when one of the girls at the table asked if she could get the Blackened chicken quesadilla without peepers he advised that they are pre made… Not good… and they were not nice at all to eat, they tasted microwaved and the tortilla was soggy. Then I got the fillet steak with(cold) cooked mushrooms and onions and sweet potato which no one at the table ate. The steak was of good quality and it was enjoyable except the fact that it was as thick as my fist which made it difficult to eat. I feel like I am bashing them alot but it honestly was not a good meal at all and it was very expensive(triple digits) and it made me wonder why i didn’t go to captain Americas and get a much nicer meal for about 50 euros. Avoid!

On rainy Sunday night of November I went to SoHo… One star for the doorman: From the outside, the place looks like any other pub. But then you step towards the door and a nice doorman greets you. These guys are very handsome from afar. From close, they are ever handsomer: D One star for the shop: The nice doorman opens the door and you enter. A few steps later you get to the bar. Around Christmas time, you can see lights and decorations everywhere. It gets you in a Christmas mood right away ! The armchairs are very cosy and you feel like staying forever. And you do ! One star for the ambiance: After a few Bubble Gum shooters, the place looks even nicer and life gets sparklier ! One star for the service: The waiters smile and it doesn’t take long before I get my shooters. I feel happy and I will come back for sure. Too bad it’s only Sunday otherwise there would be some partying tonight ! Anything else to add? I am just rating with 4 stars because I didn’t party fully. So I will wait until this is done and then I will be in proper condition(if I can say :) to review and rate to the best XD

My fella took me there for my birthday. A bit expensive. Very Irish made food :-) taco starter very nice quite generous. I had steak(rare) and king prawns on sauté potatoes. Potatoes and steak very nice. Prawns too rubbery(grilled too long?) Spanish chips very tasty I would come back just for that! It seems that they are understaffed but it’s a Wednesday night maybe they didn’t expect that many? Staff very busy running around but still friendly. Great bar!

Not bad for sport or maybe a quick sambo… But as a bar, just another typical one… No character and could be found anywhere in the world… Nothing particulary Irish about it!

The bar is pretty good, but my view of SoHo is tarnished forever by a meal I had there. We had recently passed exams and headed out as a group to celebrate. The menu is OK but service was pretty slow. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. It was cold and bland. My friend next to me had a stir fry. It was also tasteless and she didn’t finish it. They have the gimmick of the hot rocks where you can cook your own steak. Nice meat(apparently from the English Market) but doesn’t really make up for the rest of the food. Desserts were disappointing. The cheesecake was good, apple spring rolls were like some kind of baby food. The bill was enormous for the quality. I felt robbed!

No shortage of great restaurants to check out in Cork. If you’re looking for a great meal, and want some«atmophere» with it, then SoHo is the pick. 4 levels divide this bar(1st level) with a restaurant(2nd) and function/meeting area(3rd) along with a new BBQ deck(4th). The service, and the food/drink were all excellent.

SOHOWHAT? SOGOOD Downtown Saturday about six. Started at Lapps Quay to see the tailend of the annual Ocean to City Rowing event. Quite a buzz, a few hundred people, bars and restaurants busy and food stalls doing a roaring trade. We had to leave the food as we were heading for the Soho Bar & Restaurant. Called into the Clarion to show my advisor the Atrium. While there, accidently met one of the management staff, a very pleasant fellow who gave us a little tour, that included the impressive Synergy Restaurant. It can seat up to 150 but which is well laid out with little semi-private areas where a couple would not feel overwhelmed by the crowd. So we said thanks very much for that and started out for SOHO. We went through Patrick Street and came across a ragged looking Eastern European band(not really sure where they were from but their literature was in Cyrillic script) playing what sounded like gypsy music. They were very active and an entertainment in themselves(they play The Roundy this Wed June 3rd) and then they were unexpectedly joined by a guy wearing his CK underpants and a ball and chain. He danced and they surrounded him as they played and we all had a laugh. The feel good experience continued in SOHO. Starters were pan seared scallops followed by Pan seared duck. Both were top class and so too was the wine, a Fleurie AC Beaujolais Cru, Gamay 2007(by Mignot). Desserts didn’t disappoint either and they were a Lemon Tart and a Sticky Toffee Pudding. There is quite a range of prices here so you can stick to a budget or go for broke. The atmosphere, the lay-out and especially the service — we had our best waitress in a long time, friendly and helpful — were all excellent.

When we went to Bar Soho it wasn’t rocking yet because the last ten minutes of the footy was showing on the biggest screen in Munster. It was promptly rolled up and out when the game finished, and the DJ got into the act with a bit of house music. It was a nice place, and we all started with cocktails that were quite posh, but they do a lot more than just drinks. You can serve your own Guinness, and even have a nice breakfast, lunch and dinner there before it turns into a party place. There are also corporate and private rooms for hire, and live music on certain nights.

This is a great bar & restaurant in the centre of Cork city. It has 4 levels too it. Level one is where you get get served mid-morning coffees & pastries, lunches, and through to late-night DJ’s and live bands where they perform on stage. Level two is the restaurant, all there food is fresh and tasty too. Level three is the VIP room where they provide you with full conference/IT facilities, private dining and full bar. Level four is a private barbecue deck and bar. All you need on a night out is in this one place, food, bar and music. To start the night my friends booked a cocktail making lesson on the top floor of the bar, they give you some info on cocktails, show you how to make them and best of all test one each when they are finished. There is a good disco bar on the ground floor to continue on your night. I had a great night out here, fab place to go too.
