Catherine was over the top on her wine selection and pairings. Food was ok. The hotel and the service is very good. The facility is something to see and experience. It’s a castle but has the feel of a cruise ship. The grounds are worth the trip.

What you’d expect for a hotel of Ashford Castle’s stature. That being said, it was very, very good. A bit pricey, but you’d expect that, and my food at least was as good as any I’ve ever had at a luxury hotel(the number of those meals is heartbreakingly few, I’m afraid). I would have liked to try their tasting menu, but you get more than enough food to fill you, unlike some other restaurants that put a premium on presentation. The amuse bouche was delightful and set the tone for the chef’s dishes for the rest of the evening. The restaurant and staff was exceedingly professional; my mother is a very picky eater and didn’t like anything on the a la carte menu, so they made her a chicken breast instead. It’s a very special restaurant that’s so accommodating. Check it out if you’re in the area and in the mood to splurge.

I ate here with my fiancé for dinner while staying at Ashford Castle. The dining room is quite gorgeous with red carpeting that matches well with the red padded chairs, white table cloths and number of beautiful chandeliers hanging down. We had looked at the menu before hand and decided that we wanted to do 4 course pre-fixe menu. While I can’t remember everything that I had to eat, I do remember that everything was good but nothing was amazing. The service itself was really good and our team of servers brought the courses and opened it at the same time. They also acknowledged that we had just gotten engaged a few hours earlier and brought out a plate of mini desserts with a congratulations piped on the plate in silver. The bottom line for me is that I probably would not eat here again in the future. The service was exceptional and the food was good as well but in the end I didn’t feel like what we received was worth the overall cost of the meal.
