So good that even after getting locked in the bathroom, I still give 3fe five stars. More on that a little later. We decided to give 3fe a try upon a friend’s recommendation for their coffee. Initially, we only thought we would get coffee but found out that they had a fantastic brunch that started at 10 on the weekend. I decided to get their ginger tea and their black pudding breakfast. The tea came out in a delightfully colorful pot, steamy and fragrant. The black pudding breakfast turned out to be quite hearty, with potatoes galore, spinach and poached eggs all smothered in creamy hollandaise sauce. Really, really goooood. Before we headed out, I decided to go to the bathroom. However, when I tried to get out… The lock had jammed. I was trapped and banged on the door for a bit until someone heard me and helped get me out by sliding some oil underneath the door. Freedom! Regardless… Super friendly and helpful staff and delicious drinks and food. Highly recommended.

Prices were reasonable, but I take issue with the fact that a self-proclaimed coffee shop doesn’t differentiate between a latte, flat white and cappuccino. They actually explicitly state they are all the same thing to them, mostly due to a lack of consistency in how people define each of those drinks. While I agree with the fact that the confusion exists, I don’t agree with their conclusion – they are definitely not the same thing. All that said, the drink I got was great. It wasn’t a flat white, but I liked it. The staff was nice and the service was good as well.

I’ve been dreaming about the lemon curd bar I had here before so I’m devastated its not here today but the coffee is so good it makes up for it. The menu is a little intimidating to the non coffee buff so I’m glad this time, when I asked for an Americano that they just gave me house blend rather than asking me more questions with my sleepy head. The music is a bit much for the morning time but the general vibe is good. Will be back… hoping for lemon curd bars!

This place is always trending so I had to go there. I was there for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was packed — of course — but we were lucky enough to get a table as some other people were just leaving. The noise level was too high. The place is cool, staff are lovely but it is not a place to catch up w/a fried. The menu was short but I looked around to see what other people were eating and I spotted some beautiful cornered beef. I went for it and is was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered a brownie and they gave him 2 pieces of each because it was too small, according to them. It wasnt small at all, I swear. The coffee was really good — we had a set tray with a shot of classic expresso and a small capuccino. The food here was superp I’d come back because of that. But for take away only. #DublinShopsLocal

Can’t go wrong with 3FE, lovely coffee roast. Good spot, the music is too loud. Kinda annoying that restaurants think loud music is ‘hipster’ it’s NOT! We’re all going to suffer from hearing problems with all the loud music. Back to coffee — very nice!

Fiddlesticks, I wish I could give this place less than a five star. Why? I dunno, to stand out from the crowd? Or is it the Irish begrudger lurking deep within me? Or is it more the ‘that place actually CAN’T be as good as everyone says, the dopes’ buzz… Either way. 3Fe, you foiled me! Superb from beginning to end is how I’d describe the place. The lads are on the ball — quick with their service but also friendly, smiley and they clearly know their s*it. I am actually not a coffee drinker, so in contrast to most other reviewers here, my review is actually on the food.(I also had peppermint tea which was served loose leaf in a proper teapot — not always the norm let me tell ya) I had the haloumi salad which came with large chunks of gorgeous haloumi(from Macroom of all places!), spinach, fenel, perfectly toasted hazelnuts, and the piece de resistance, balsamic roast peaches. It was just the perfect combination of sweet, savoury, textures & colours. I would eat it every day if I could.

I came here for breakfast this morning with my flatmate upon our friends’ insistence on giving this place another shot. So I trekked over and ordered the Huevos Rancheros while my flatmate ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes and Americano. The Huevos Rancheros came out pretty fast, and from what I had heard about their food, I was expecting more than what I got. The dish was described as refried beans, jalapenos, salsa, cheese, chorizo, and a fried egg all over a warm tortilla. Firstly, there was no chorizo to be found in my Huevos Rancheros, which was disappointing. Secondly, the tortilla was a large corn tortilla. Tortilla 101: corn tortillas aren’t made in large portions(like a flour tortilla) because they harden when cooled or left out too long. Not only that, but they are more traditionally used for smaller dishes such as tacos or chips. The tortilla came out difficult to chew, probably because it wasn’t heated to a high enough temperature, or it was sitting out too long. Needless to say, I was disappointed with my meal. My flatmate ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes described to have been topped with maple ricotta, pumpkin seeds, bacon, pecan brittle, and berries. The ricotta that was supposed to come tasted very similar to heavy cream. Though the pancakes were nice and fluffy, it wasn’t what she expected either. She did, however, still enjoy it. The Americano, on the other hand, was quite terrible. It was a very unbalanced shot that was acidic with a harsh end. For an establishment known for its coffee, I was quite disappointed. In an attempt to give 3FE a third chance, our friend urged us to try their brownies before writing off this coffee shop altogether. We did. Verdict: Still disappointed. From the customer service to the food, I didn’t enjoy my experiences here. Perhaps the other patrons are in on something I’m not, but 3FE isn’t my cup of coffee… And I’m okay with that. TIP: They don’t serve any milk alternatives, only full fat milk.
