VENUE Love it, no fuss… Just awesome good space to chill out with some friends DRINKS Love, the craft beer menu in here is insane! Massive kudos, there’s always something new to try! Really top notch casual place to go whether it’s just for 1 or two… or ten!

In general I’m a HUGE fan of the Galway Bay group and their beers. Especially love their Goodbye Blue Monday and Of Foam & Fury — great bevvies. That being said, this is a review of the bar and somewhat torn… On the one hand, awesome selection of beer so has off for that. But(and I say this as a long time client) is it just me or are things starting to get very pricey? That and the fact that a lot of the draught beers also now come in 33cl as standard(vs the Pint which you’d expect)… hmmm. Plus the last few times I’ve been here(including right now as I’m composing this review) the place has been like a sauna!!! So in a nutshell, dial back the heat in the place lads, and look at your pricing structure coz otherwise you run the risk of losing a very local patron. Your play…

Just another great Galway Bay brewpub. Excellent guest beers on tap and their own brews, try Good Bye Blue Monday and sessional IPAs like Voyager US. Something good that others breweries like PorterHouse needs to adopt is «Half pint, Half price».

Yea go on it’s a yes from me. This place is always busy and a great atmosphere. They have a huge selection of taps but check social media for up to date selection. .I have never had food here but they appear to churn our lots and it smells good. Toilets here are a challenge but it’s am old building so what can ya do.

We had a reservation for 6:30 dinner on a Friday night. It was packed but we were seated quickly. When we arrived early. Absolutely loved their Beef and Stormy Porter Stew. It was the most flavorful I’ve had in Dublin. My companions had Beef and Ginger Noodle Stir Fry(also very good), and a Steak Burger(tasty but the relish was overly sweet to her taste and the bun turned soggy quickly). Took awhile to get our drinks order, but the food came shortly after. Wide selection of draft and bottled beers. I especially like Galway’s Goodbye Blue Monday. It had a refreshing citrus note and no bitter hoppiness.

Plenty of the best Irish craft beers. The atmosphere is nice maybe it is a little bit lousy. The place is big and there are many table so it is nice to go with a big group of people.

Definitely a big fan of this place. The selection of beer and whiskey is excellent, and you can always trust the staff’s choices. Speaking of staff, they’re extremely friendly. Feels like there’s always something different going on at this bar, it never gets old. And you never know who you’re going to find there! At the risk of being a bit of a hipster, the only downside it that it may be a bit too popular — I know, horrible thing to say! But to their credit, even when this place is packed it’s still easy to find a nook to be with your friends and enjoy some tasty alcohol!

They have one of the best gluten free beers I have ever tasted and it is appropriately named ‘against the grain’. I have been here twice once on a Friday and once on a Saturday and both times it was packed. Really nice atmosphere, no drunken teenagers in here, which is a nice change. The music is also really awesome. I have met a bunch of super interesting people in here as well. If you sit outside in the smoking area, people will come up and ask you for money for a hostel, which I don’t personally mind but it might be worth adding. I will be back for more delicous beer and great tunes.

Great beer list, friendly staff, if you love beer this is the best place in Dublin! Haven’t had the food but the people next to us we’re loving theirs! Good people drink good beer! Beer cocktails are delicious and the whiskey selection is off the charts, all in all great vibe, great selection of libations and great staff!

Galway Bay Brewery bar near Whelans… Decent selection of craft beers and cider. Haven’t eaten here at all but I believe the food is pretty good. I quite liked getting Founders’ Breakfast stout in a coffee cup :) Also the beer cocktails here are v good!

Awesome selection of craft beers but a touch pricey! In fairness they probably have to pay a bit themselves! I’m taking away a star cause no Guinness and the reply when I enquired was«we don’t have any Diageo products», doused in hipster high horse! It’s a bar gentlemen, not a revolution! And Guinness is Ireland! Should we all stop drinking it cause it sold out???

I mostly only pop into against the grain to enjoy some pints with friends and the odd days we order a bowl of those amazing chunky chips. However last night we decided to stay for some food and it was an excellent choice. They slightly changed their menu but still have a good selection of gf and vegetarian options. I ordered the spiced veggie lentil burger on a GF bun with chips and it was a perfect match with my chilled pint of McIvor cider. My friend went for the steak burger and pint of Erdinger. Both burgers were served with their homemade chunky chips — which are simply one of the best chips in Dublin in my opinion and always a reason to pop in for chips and pints. I also love that against the grain do the McIvors as pints and not only bottles as most other places.

Of the Galway Bay Brewery pubs that I’ve been to, I have to admit this is probably my least favourite. There’s something just sort of thrown together about the tables in here. The staff seem cool but on a couple of occasions I’ve been here on my own or with just one other person, and despite the fact that we were loudly discussing beer, the bartenders never tried to chime in or have a chat – which I would have especially appreciated when alone. It has the same decent selection of beers as the other pubs, but for me it just doesn’t have the same cosiness. I’ve never been here any night that it’s been super busy, only for a couple of weeknight dinners and for lunch. If you’re in the area, it’s not a bad place to go, and the beer is just as good here as elsewhere, but if you have the choice of GBB bars, I’d suggest another. That said, this is supposedly a cursed building, and Against The Grain has lasted a lot longer than its predecessors, so that has to say something about it.

Not at all going to lie… never expected to see a craft beer bar this good in Dublin. Great food(beware if you’re not in the mood for burgers/sausages; otherwise, rejoice). I had the Tandoori Lamb Burger with the Chunky Chips(you could easily reassemble them into the whole potato) — delicious. Great beer selection that’s top notch, certainly broadened by perspective on Irish craft brew. The staff and the patrons provided some great craic, even on a Monday night. Will be visiting again.

I’ll keep this short — it’s a decent boozer, very old-man style but with a welcoming vibe and a nice atmosphere. We stopped in for a quick drink(less than an hour) and I enjoyed some delicious cider. I’m not sure which one as I wasn’t the one ordering drinks! It’s a large space and we didn’t have a problem grabbing a table for our large group(around 10 people) on a Tuesday evening. My workmates seemed impressed by the range of beers(I was too lazy to get off my butt to look) and overall I really enjoyed hanging out here for a while. I promise I’ll check it out better next time!

This was definitely a find and a half — in fact it was so good that I actually went twice yesterday! A fairly big pub with loads of seating and an even bigger craft beer and whiskey selection we stumbled in here when looking for a place for lunch and between the 4 of us had some absolutely epic burgers and sausages(with a vege sausage option too) Looking for after work beers we headed back down here and got excited by the range of at least 20 craft beers on tap — the founders centennial IPA being a personal favourite and being recommended some great local beer by the barman. What a fantastic place — like Arnie said — «I will be back»

I’m a little bit of a beer geek, so am always looking for good places to try new and interesting beers. If you love beer, this is a must-go spot in Dublin. You’ll find a lot of interesting local microbrews here on tap(including two regularly rotating casks) and international imports as well. Whilst I have yet to try any of the food, I been back on several occasions for the beer selection alone. The staff are genuinely knowledgeable and, some, even passionate about beer! Even just standing at the bar waiting for my drink, I often find myself caught in casual banter with fellow customers over the intricacies of the different styles. In all other regards, it really is just a nice unpretentious bar to visit. They even have a patio out front(albeit small) for enjoying the sun. If beer isn’t your thing, they also carry several nice craft ciders, as well as a well-stocked whiskey/scotch selection!
