Not a bad kebab for a jetlagged Friday night(well, evening — felt like night given the lack of sleep). Actually, really, just what the doctor ordered: tasty, didn’t have to think about it, decent chips, comfortable seating. A bit jumbo sized, which can be a blessing or a curse, but the price is right.

Absolute dive of an establishment… and the word establishment is pushing it. The security staff are appalling human beings who seem to have no problem racially abusing their customers. Was their last night and heard/saw this first hand. This is not acceptable in our society, and should be highlighted to let everyone know that such low lives are employed/run this establishment.

Disgrace of an establishment. The security staff racially abused my girlfriend calling her a refugee after she asked them for help to get rid of an off duty Garda pissed out of his head annoying her and her friends and stealing her food. My gf was very upset over the whole incident. I know it’s just a dive of a fast food restaurant for people wanting greasy food after a night out, but this shouldn’t happen anywhere. I have made efforts to reach the manager over the phone but the staff are extremely rude and actually kept hanging up on me. Incident has been reported to the Gardai and Migrants right centre Ireland.

This is actually a pretty nice late night chipper. The food is decent(even when sober… I know, it’s crazy). The curry chips and burgers are a little better here than a lot of other places. The big difference is there is plenty of seating in here, and a lot of nicer leather booths. It’s also quite clean, although it can get a little bit messy at night when the messy night people are there if you catch the intent. All in all, I wouldn’t say no to this place during the day or night, which says a lot about Babylon.

Babylon is a revelation to me. I have passed by this place so many times thinking it was your bog standard chipper. But it wasn’t until I went in I realised that further on from the well turned out clean counter and uniformed staff, there are super comfy booths down the back. The staff here were smiley, friendly and polite who served up a doner kebab meal to us in no time at all. It was very nice too, so nice that we were back here again two nights later. The kebab competition on Camden Street is good, but I think Babylon blows it out of the water. Babylon is cheaper and dare I say it, their kebabs are nicer. I will be back, to my waistlines detriment :)

Tried Babylon Kebabs for a change from Zaytoon, must admit they were really good. We shared a donor kebab meal which was 8 euro’s a lot cheaper than Zaytoons, probably slightly smaller than Zaytoon’s I would think but enough for two people for a snack. The interior is quite nice and very clean, the staff were also quite friendly, The Kebab was very tasty indeed, we really enjoyed it. Now I had had a few ciders before hand so I need to go back and try again sober. But on first Kebab its a great place by the looks of it. Zaytoon has some competition!

Good big portions at a good price… and nice food. This is what I’m talking about, soakage fans.

Babylon is one of very few fast-food joints I would choose for a sit-in lunch. They have good lunch-time and afternoon deals and the portions seem way bigger than the take-away döner you might grab on the way home from the pub. During the day, Babylon is also clean and comfy,(well as comfy as a too-brightly-lit fast-food place can be) and I never feel like I’m feastin on an unhealthy meal when piping hot plate arrives at the table, especially while trying to figure out how the hell I’m supposed to roll up the pita bread with the mountain of veggies topping the meat. Unless you have a gigantic mouth and enormous hands, there’s actually no way you can eat it without a knife and fork. But man, ohh, man is it good.

Babylon to me is like a unicorn. A beautiful, breathtaking beam of glistening light that only appears when the time is right(sloshed). I say this because, much like Hogwarts’ room of requirement, it only appeared to me while absolutely mowldy for about a month. I could never remember how to get back the next time I was sober and in the Camden/Wexford street area. Taco fries, however delicious, are not a map. Happened about 3 or 4 times until I just decided to ask someone. One of the better kebab shops in Dublin, hop in after the Palace on a Saturday night. Result.

How can kebabs not be good for you? Almost all of the food groups are covered, and think of the health-filled helpings of lettuce, red cabbage and tomatoes that get thrown onto the pita… Admittedly, it’s an argument that’s far easier to subscribe to when you’ve already had a few. Give Babylon a try BEFORE you start drinking: cheap meal deals are available before 8 in the evening, leaving you full for less than € 8. There’s plenty of seating in the back, and the booths mean you can get comfortable while eating, rather than being made feel like you’re being moved along as quickly as possible.

Pretty good late night food, cheap and big portions. The kebab meal is huge but a bit dry for my cultivated fast food palate. Pizza’s good though, and the staff are generally lovely. That said, I recently got sick after eating here so, naturally, they’re in the bad books at the mo.
