I’ve had the fish and chips here and it definitely hit the spot! I like this pub cause there’s lots of different places to sit, little cubbys, wider spaces and the bar. There’s plenty of parking. Big plus, lots of toilets and space in there too. Nothing worse than finding a gem that’s got horrible toilets! Wide ranging menu, polite, friendly, efficient staff. All good!

Went for dinner as we live not far away and wanted to give it a try. The interior is a mish mash of styles and the bathrooms in particular could be updated. We waited to be seated in the restaurant and at least five members of staff passed us without saying a thing while others assured us they would be with us in a minute. We were brought downstairs after a few minutes which is quite nice as it feels intimate but walking by lots of empty tables feels quite strange. We chose the steak burger and beef cheek. The steak burger comes on what is called ‘Waterford blaa’ and isn’t bad. The burger itself is nice with bacon cheese lettuce and tomato. The chips could have been hotter and crispier and tasted a bit bland. The beef cheek was similar. The mash and gravy it came with was fine but lacked flavour. The mains we had were ok but nothing special. Everything could be better seasoned. The service is quite haphazard so we didn’t bother staying for dessert. We wanted to like this place but we won’t be rushing back.

One of the best Sunday dinner spot. We stoped there after driving from Kilkenny. A real sightseeing… Very handy if you are on the road and looking for somewhere to eat. Love all the history that pub offers. Its quiet busy on Sundays, as all the locals go there, and a beautiful thatch roof as well. I will be back next time Im on the road again

Got a rocket salad which consisted of a play of raw red onion and a little rocket. Very poor, especially for such a simple salad. Breakfast fry up is good value at 10 quid but quality is lacking, the whole thing is deep fat fried. Don’t think I would go back.

I normally never complain, but I just finished what was simultaneously the worst and most expensive carvery I’ve ever had. The beef and carrots were ok, but the potatoes and stuffing were really bad. We were considering a Turkey and Ham dish but when we got to the serving station, the meat was pre-cut and looked really dry and unappealing. We haven’t been here in years, had fond memories of really good food on offer… Clearly things have changed. :(

Great spot for the carvery lunch in a lively ambient atmosphere. Food is wholesome and as Annie says will put a lining on your bones. The pub is situated off the N7 southbound and also hosts a wide variety of sandwichs/salads for those of you not ready for the full monty. They can also provide take out for those who prefer eating on the move.

This place smacks of authenticity and really old world and cosiness. It has wonderful big fire places and is a fab place to spend a winter windy rainy Sunday afternoon. I suggest Sunday cause they do a great carvery lunch here and it is really popular so there is a great buzz about the place. There is also a lovely restaurant area and menu as well as a bar menu too. I would avoid the chips however cause I have always been disappointed when I order them, they are from frozen, limp and soggy! Not good! Over all a great pub that does a roaring trade and is a favourite with locals as it has been around for years!

This is really more of a landmark to me versus a pub. It’s just always evokes famous and infamous sporting memories. From watching Italia 90 games there to Michelle de Brun returning with her medals after the Olympics. It’s an eye-catching building and the exterior and interior are always extremely well maintianed. I love the atmosphere in there, laid back and homely. Food is tasty and will put meat on your bones! Great spot for a lazy Sunday lunch after a Sunday drive.
