When I walked into Barratt’s the two women standing behind the register gabbing and laughing completely ignored me. Huge sigh of relief. I hate how in shoe shops the sales associate asks you right away if you need any help and then either watch your every move or literally follow you around the shop waiting for you to merely pick up a shoe so they can ask again if you need any help. What is the deal with that?! I just want to be left alone. So I was pretty pleased that the Barratt’s staff let me browse without feeling on the verge of a panic attack. The selection of Barratt’s is nothing out of the ordinary, and you won’t find anything really cutting edge or unique. However, they have a lot of styles to choose from, from heels to flats to work boots. I found the quality to be good for a lot of the items. The price range is around € 20 – 60 for most stuff. One thing I thought was hilarious was a pair of € 25 flats I picked up with a label on them warning that they weren’t designed to withstand normal outdoor wear and tear. At first I thought, well why on earth are you selling these then? And then I realized that these were the exact flats you can get anywhere, sometimes for even more money. They really do NOT stand up to normal wear. Barratt’s is the only place that’s ever put a label like this on these flats. But I still think they should have been cheaper, especially with the label declaring specifically that these weren’t exactly«shoes.»
