Superb quality coffee. Just shows you don’t need Mumford and sons playing in the background to deliver quality roasts. That is all.

Probably one of the best places to get a coffee in Dublin. It is situated in a little kiosk on a traffic island across from the Israeli embassy and a few meters down from the US embassy. Through out the day from 8am to 4pm there is usually a queue of people waiting patiently for the great coffee here. The owner is very friendly and the pastries on sale make a perfect accompaniment to the wonderful coffee. The price is good at € 2 for a great coffee compared to over € 3 in the established chains, for lesser quality.

On my way to jog, I always see people queuing up for a cup of coffee at this Kiosk and now I know why. Tucked in middle of a junction, this tiny coffee Kiosk offers very good coffees at a good price, better then some of the chains out here and the coffee beans are freshly roasted. You can see the difference. I like the fact that a small business like this one is flourishing well and I hope that it stays that way to let us enjoy a superior coffee! Not everything in the world needs to be Starbucks…

The Coffee Kiosk itself may be tiny but the coffee it serves is the best in Dublin. A far superior cup of coffee to what the coffee house chains make. A busy spot, there’s often a queue in front of the kiosk window. I’ve missed trains because I stopped for coffees here and I didn’t mind that much. The coffee is just that good.

So you’re looking at the famous Ballsbridge Kiosk, spread out lavishly over 37sq ft, which in 1989 were proportionately the most expensive piece of real estate ever sold(for IR£132,000 at the time, the Irish Times reported recently in its review of this place). It is only fitting then, that the Kiosk recently became the home to what is arguably Dublin’s most exclusive take away coffee. The hut’s new tenant Brian Kenny, a trained barista, roasts his own beans in the Kiosk every day(I did not think there was enough space, either) and continues the prestigious history of this space by offering top notch coffee. Brian is very happy to share his knowledge of the good brew and once you’ve talked to him for a few minutes about how to make a decent cup of coffee, what beans he uses, what parts of the machine need to be cleaned regularly, etc. you will understand why his coffee tastes so friggin’ good. And to close the loop on the«most expensive» theme — Brian currently(Aug 2012) is mad enough to sell the world’s most exclusive, and most expensive, coffee: Kopi Luwak(read up why the beans are so special or ask Brian). Rest assured that his ‘normal’ coffee is not more expensive than elsewhere in the area(bit cheaper, actually), yet is the best around by far. + Top coffee to go + Brian knows his equipment, so quality should stay high in the long run + Decent prices + Tiniest complete coffee house sporting a barista, a choice of beans, micro roastery and professional coffee machine — no seating
