A high end optician which is more expensive than specsavers and its ilk, but justifies it with higher quality service. I bought a pair of glasses there in 2007, and I still have them. The glasses have repeatedly broken and gotten loose. Each time, they fixed it for free! I was expecting to pay upwards of € 100 to fix my horribly mangled set of frames, but all free! Donal O Malley, upstairs, is my optician, and does an excellent job. He has more than 30 years optician experience, and has seen every issue before. While I could be given a stronger prescription, and while other opticians have suggested I need a stronger one, he tells me that my eyes will just degrade faster if I do. So a small bit of discomfort now for much bigger benefits later, boom.

Dixon Hempenstall recognises that eye wear isn’t just a visual aid, but it’s also a fashion statement. I think they’ve definitely got one of the best selections of fashionable eyewear in all of Dublin. The staff is superfriendly and helpful. They also acknowledged their competition and you can get 2 frames for the price of one for anything over € 120. They also have prescription sunglasses! In case you’re lucky enough to get out of Ireland this winter!
