It’s happened, I’ve had another 5* burger experience… I just had to travel to Ireland to get it! Eddie Rockets has a plethora of tasty treats to choose from, which made deciding what to grab for lunch more difficult than I was expecting. I settled on a burger which had black pudding in it! Let me just say this now, All burgers should contain black pudding! It was AAAAAMAARZING. I decided on bacon cheese fries to accompany the burger, and washed it all down with a Reece’s PB shake, which only disappointed because I thought it would be PB and chocolate… You know, like a Reece’s piece. If I was expecting just PB, it would have been brilliant. Dessert was a Coke float, because I couldn’t visit a 50’s style diner and not get one. If I’m in Dublin again, I’ll definitely visit again.

My sister and I visited Eddie Rocket’s when we were in Dublin this summer. Hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! I ordered the Bacon & Egg Cheeze Pleeze breakfast burger with fries and a shake and she had the chicken tenders. We loved the ambiance and the food so much that we came back to Eddie Rocket’s during a layover a few weeks later before returning to the States.

It’s very retro but I have to say I think Eddie’s burgers are some of the best inn town. I love their malted shakes too. I was starving after work and really wanted a tasty burger. I landed here and got looked after straight away. I ordered the chocolate malt, cheese burger with bacon and fries. It all came pretty quickly and the burger was really really tasty– yum. The bill was 16,50 which is great value I think. The waitress was lovely too.

Not one of the better Eddies but it is open late at night when not much else is around that part of town. It was quiet enough but the service was so slow. Took us ages to be served and then we had to request that our empty dishes be cleared away. The food was just averages. Not the best Eddie Rockets I’ve ever had.

Was really not impressed with this Eddie’s. The place isn’t laid out particularly well so can be a bit of a squeeze. Even with three servers and capacity at 65%, service just seemed to drag. When service sucks though you can forgive them if the food is unreal… But it wasn’t. My friend ordered chicken tenders, which came out as a measly portion, barely breadcrumbed and terribly dry. Not tender at all! Both of us thought the fries tasted off too, as if they were fried in oil that hadn’t been changed in a while. I usually really like Eddie’s as it’s normally good guilty food, but this experience really put me off.

This is like Johnny Rockets in the United States. The food was hot. The girl that was working, was working her butt off. The man that was there was doing very little. She had to tell him to help her. She was the server, greeter, cashier and bussing tables. He only appeared when she told him, help me. Otherwise he walked around doing nothing. The place was not as clean as in the United States. They need to work on cleaning and getting the girl some help.

Can’t speak for none other than what we ordered. Theme is a classical 50’s american diner located in Ireland, missing the mark in a huge way. Horrible, my wrap was canned chili inside a wrap. Charged me 1 Euro for a small cup of hot sauce… Wifes chicken sandwhich, just okay. Wow just wow, no effort into replicating an American staple, same with some pubs in America, being Irish in name only.

Empty pockets as it’s otherwise known. Ended up spending € 23 in there last night for nachos, chips, breaded mushrooms and a coke. It still is very yummy though and will not put me off when craving it. They now have a peanut butter milkshake, yet to be tried but will be heaven on the lips for sure. The slider meals seem to be the most value so will have to give them a try next time.

Similar to Johnny rockets in the USA, this place is great for a classic burger and fries in a 1950s setting. And that’s what we got. We ordered the 3 sliders and fries basket to share. I liked the light toasting of the bun. More so I thought the burgers were cooked really well. Juicy and tasty. We did not end up getting a milkshake as there is a gelato place around the corner. But we did enjoy plenty of music playing our jukebox at our booth. Great chain!

Bacon and cheese fries… ha ha! Devine!!! Eddie’s is the crème de la crème of the fast food chains; never tend to feel as guilt eating an Eddie’s as I do a Mc D’s even though it’s certainly as calorific if not more so, especially when you opt for the Choc Malt! So yeah, eddie’s ye got table service, quick food and quality that is the same from one Eddie’s to the next — though the service can differ, often though you are content with the smiley service and the american diner atmosphere here! Huge fan of the bacon and cheese fries here, coupled with a chicken fillet burger and I normally tot off home a very happy bunny! Big plus, late night opening hours in the city center make for a great post-drinking feed before a stumble into a nearby taxi ;-)

I went to Eddie Rocket’s last week and wanted to give it a shot. I have only ever been to Eddie Rockets one other time in my entire life(over 18 months ago) and couldn’t recall why It was that I only tried it once. So what is Eddie Rockets? I would sum it up as a themed fast food, American 1950s styled diner. Booths, bar stools, juke boxes, lots of chrome accents. Fast food is a difficult label for it really, I would call it a step up from McDonalds, Burger King, etc., a step down from comparable burger places Counter and Gourmet Burger Kitchen(right next door). Although it would be cheaper from those alternatives. You can expect overpriced burgers(avg 7 – 9), shakes(avg 3 – 4) and fries(3.5−4.5). Most everything is served al a carte, so before you know it you are walking out spending about 13 – 15 per person, ouch. Service is not the quickest but they were friendly enough while we were there.

A colleague really wanted to eat here and we were in a rush, so against my better judgment we went. This location is the absolute worst Eddie Rockets in Ireland. The food is fine, it’s the overpriced tripe you’d expect, but the serving staff is a different monster altogether. The waitress we had seemed determined to maximise the bill. She said some nonsense about charging for tap water, 0.20. Charging for sauce. Saying she’s doing us a favour by accepting a free chip voucher(with purchase of a burger). I inquired as to why this was a favour, as it was not expired and specifically states this location on the voucher — her reply was that management decided not to honour them anymore. Lovely. There are countless other mediocre burger joints, even a couple great ones, in Dublin. Give Eddie Rocket’s, especially this one, a miss!

Perfect centrally located, just off Grafton Street. We went for the American style pancakes again, with bacon. Missed the piece of melon we had last time… Regardless of this it was great to be back again.

This is an okay option for late nights out but other than that I don’t think I’d choose it. It’s just off of Grafton Street and is really just like any other Eddie Rocket’s around, but the crowd just isn’t quite as decent as some of the other ones. The food is alright, consistent like you would expect in a chain. There are plenty of servers to keep everything moving quickly and security to keep the drunk(er) people under control — or at least I thought that’s what they were for. This was before I had a guy continually disturbing my friends and I. Yelling insulting things at us while we were trying to eat. The security guard was just a few feet away and the group he was with was clearly finished eating so I couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t being told to leave us alone as we clearly didn’t want to be bothered; and they still didn’t after he came closer to us and yelled even more insulting accusations at me personally. Anyway, it wasn’t the greatest experience when you can’t get some hangover killer with some friends without being bothered continually by other obnoxious people. If you have several guys there, they should try to keep the peace I would think but I’m glad it didn’t come to any more than that before his friend pulled him away.

Burgers, milkshakes and malts here are a must! Yes things are quite expensive here but the whole cheesiness and sense of gimmick make the place a fun environment. Staff can be quirky and cute and try to put on a happy face, even though this could be far from sincere, although it adds to the humour of this place. I always have fun when I come here and wow their blue cheese-topped burgers are divine, not to mention the oreo cookie milkshakes which are HUGE.

Oh Eddie Rocket’s aka. Empty Pockets, the best words for me to describe ER’s is OMNOMNOM! OK well if you have a thing for fast food, but a type that won’t leave you hungry and questioning what meat/vegetable/mineral compound you may have just eaten then Eddie Rocket’s is the place to go. It has been the cure of many of my hangovers. The menu is constantly updated, as of late, Sweet potato fries and a smaller bowl for the chili… even though, shamefully I can still eat a big bowl and still have room for garlic cheese fries. I do stay clear of the burgers though because I hate the sound of my jaw clicking as I’m attempting to get my mouth around them, so I stick happily to everything else and enjoy them. I wouldn’t recommend it for a 1st date unless you are perhaps between the ages of 14 – 17 ish but I have found it a good place to test if a guy will judge you for your dirty little food binges that you usually only share with close friends…

Its gotta be Eddieeeeee Rockets, all the wayhey… Eddies is Irelands favourite and most ubiquitous American diner. The décor is flashy and in your face, the posters deliberately unwelcoming(«Eat and get out!») and the prices are ridiculously high for fast food, but we still can’t seem to get enough. The buffalo wings are sticky and fiery, and the best burger is the atomic, a heart-attack inducing beef burger with a dollop of beef chilli and jalapeño peppers. The milkshales are creamy and giant and big enough to share if you’re feeling generous, and the malts are even better, served in aluminium glasses with candy-striped straws just like in a real American diner. This particular branch was a hot lunchtime haunt when I was studying in Trinity College around the corner, where we got 2 for one burgers with vouchers from the Student Pages magazine.

Both the majority of my friends and the majority of my family have a thing for Eddie Rocket’s. *Groan*. As a result, I’m often reluctantly walked up to South Anne Street dragging my feet as all I hear about are the merits of cheesy fries versus taco fries. Speaking of which, their taco fries or ‘chili fries’ as they’re also known, suck. Plastic cheese on top of chili that tastes like it was made in a welly. Their burgers are overpriced, as is everything else on the menu actually, and their ‘famous’ sauces are pretty unremarkable. The only thing I enjoy about Eddie Rocket’s is the décor. Really kitsch 50’s diner stuff, but as every restaurant is decorated the exact same, there isn’t that much character to each individual restaurant. Don’t bother with the jukeboxes, they don’t actually work. Another way in which Eddie Rocket’s is a disappointment.

Everythingis good today. Don’t play with your food. Don’t stick gum under the seats. Buy your Mother a Baseball Cap. Stop kicking your sister. Be polite — You may have to work here one day.).
