I know people are going mad for Umi Falafel but in terms of quality, quantity and good service, Falafel Lounge is the best falafel bar that i have encountered thus far in Dublin city. It can be dead on occasion, so atmosphere can be a bit lacking but I really don’t understand how the place is consistently so quiet whenever I go in, considering how good the food is and how unbelievably nice and personalible the staff are. You can choose between sit in or take away falafel lunches, fairly priced at € 4.50 for a small lunch bowl or tray(take away tray) with a heaping of whatever salads you want and 2 falafels, € 5.50 for the medium with 3 falafels, and € 6.50 for the large(huge!) with 4 falafels. The large can easily fill two people and enables you to try all of the salads, including the nicest tabouleh I’ve ever had the chance of tasting.(It’s not overly parsleyed and the flavour combo of the coriander and mint are just sheer perfection, plus it’s not drenched in olive oil which some other places unfortunately seem to consider the stable base of tabouleh [psst, it’s meant to be the bulgar wheat for any competitors reading this]) Falafel lounge also do some seriously good hot food, including an insanely good bata hara(spicy potato) that isn’t tear inducingly spicy and has good flavour, some really nice haloumi cheese served on a yummy minty hinted salad of chopped onion, tomato, cucumber and olives that screams freshness and is perfect for this summer weather and a cumin powder and seed loaded flat pizzastyle lebanese dish that’s a bit oily but with some careful tissue padding, a really good base for your dips and salads. However, the best thing by far in my(‘humble’) opinion is their lounge salad, which is so generous I had to ask my sister to give me a hand with it. It’s a fatoush mixed salad with summac(a kind of bitter but tart flower/seed, I can’t really adequately describe it but it’s extremely unusual but yummy in flavour), tomato, fresh mint, lemon juice, olive oil served with three pieces of large and flavoursome perfectly seasoned falafels and its unbelievably good! Plus it’s lactose free and vegany friendly, something my sister really appreciated due to dietary issues, so pregnant or breastfeeding women with special dietary issues(like the big sister) can eat it without worrying about potential stomach upsets for the baby later on. The staff as I said already are really nice and one staff member in particular, a young woman with long black hair is possibly the nicest employee out of any of the places around Templebar(there’s a lot of nice employees around that part of the City) and is always very friendly and has been consistently patient with tourists and new comers who don’t know the style of food. She’s alert and whenever I’ve been there, I’ve noticed that she’s aware of the customers’ needs, whether when they’re ordering or are at their tables and comes over to give free refills of water if it’s not too busy. It’s a really nice place and somewhere I happily return to whenever I have a falafel craving.

I’ve only been once but I was very impressed! The falafel were nicely moist which is a change from the usual burnt to a crisp type you usually get. And while the salads are less authentic than across the street, they are very fresh and delicious. The desserts are ok, some really nice, some not so much but it’s the least of my worries when I come to eat falafel. This place is great value.

Really don’t like this place. I don’t like that there isn’t a menu card or something. I’ve just found something for salad. When I asked if they also have falafel sandwhichs the answer was just: «six Euro please.» — And it wasn’t a sandwhich it was a wrap. The wrap was wrapped in paper so it looked like a roll you’ve got from londis — which would be ok if you ordered a takeaway. Also all the plants you’ll see there are made out of plastic — which I don’t liked at all. The Falafel Wrap was okay but I didn’t feel comfortable eating there.

Their lunch deal is incredible! And such good value too. A bunch of food for about € 6! Highly recommend it

This place must look across the road at the buzzing Umi Falafel with envy. When my friend and I came here for a late afternoon lunch we were the only customers in the place. The deal here is that you pay by plate size, there are 3 different sizes. We chose 3 salads, 3 hot items and 3 falafel for € 6.50. The range of salads didn’t particularly wow me, it was pretty generic, and there were some salads I couldn’t identify at all. The hummus however was very delicious, I’m not sure if its made inhouse. You pay for your salad, but they bring the falafel down to you shortly after you pay — which I imagine causes confusion when its busy. I had to remind the server after 10 minutes that we were still waiting, as we had almost eaten our food. That being said, the plate of food was very filling. The style of the place was hard to identify, there was a confused middle eastern meets french boulangerie attempt going on, with some ugly pictures on the walls. They also seem to sell French baked goods, which is unexpected in a place called the Falafel Lounge. Overall, its a good place to go if you’re looking for a cheap, filling lunch. There’s not much of atmosphere to the place though. I would recommend it, though Umi would be my number 1 in terms of style, substance and service.

Stopped in here due to the tempting looking cakes. Reasonably priced at 2.50−3.50. I had a custard cake which seemed slightly burnt and undercooked simultaneously. I couldn’t actually eat it unfortunately. The brownie my friend got was quite tasty though. The coffee wasnt great and they brought an Americano instead of a double espresso, not a big deal in the long run, I know. The milk had bits of coffee in it. I didn’t mind really but it might put some people off. Haven’t had the falafel, perhaps that makes the café, cuz the cake and coffee won’t be bringing me back. I do have to mention one of the male staff providing really friendly and lovely service though and insisting I take a brownie when I told him about the custard cake being a bit undercooked.

My friend and I bought a groupon voucher, since I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while. I really loved the space. They had nice photos of Lebanon up, and I made sure to take the details of the photographer because the photos really brought me back home. I had mixed feelings about the food. The fattouch was not authentic, and had a ton of peppers in big slices. The falafels were good, given that we’re in Dublin and it’s hard to find good falafels here. The hummus and the baba ghannouj were amazing and were honestly the highlight of this meal. I’d come back, but there’s definitely some room for improvement.

Who knew that five small plates could be so filling for two people? We came for a Groupon deal and will be going back for the yumminess. I love that there is a buffet-style place for middle eastern food now. Falafel I can do without, but hummus, baba ganesh and flatbread I can never get enough of. Yays.

Love this place !!! … Ok, so they do a salad deal. and you can either pick a bowl for € 5.50 or a plate for € 6.50… the bowl comes with 2 falafel and the plate comes with 3 falafel. with both(the bowl and the plate) you can help yourself to salad to go with the falafels… they do AMAZING salad… really really fresh and unique ingredients as well… like greek yogurt and hummus and boiled egg and all, not just basic lettuce and tomatoes(although they do that also for the less adventurous eaters) … they also do really good falafel sandwiches, they do a deal with chips and a drink for about € 7.00… so yeah, tasty, cheap, staff are nice — but the service can be a bit slow sometimes, for example… when ordering the salad — you pick your salad and then they bring your falafel down to you — theres been a few times where they either forgot to bring it down(and i had to remind them) or they bring it down after about 25 mins which by then half my salad has been eating… if it wasnt for the fact it was so tasty and cheap it would put me off…

Highly impressed with this place. I got a groupon and popped in for a bite of lunch with one of the lads a couple of days ago. My dining companion is one of the best travelled humans I know, with a fair amount of family in Lebanon, and even he was taken aback by the quality of the food on offer, and almost licked the plate the baba ganoush was served on! Stuffed vine leaves, humus and falafel were all great and served with a tangy salad which complimented them perfectly, as well as a generous serving of pita and flatbreads. Additionally the girl behind the counter was lovely, when she dropped down our meal she offered to explain what each dish was, which is nice if it had been needed. I’m 100% going to return.

Great falafel, you pick a plate, size depends on how many falafel you get then you fill it up with as much different salads as you like at the salad bar and then they drop your cooked falafel down to you. Great for a cheap healthy lunch.

Well I am a major vege dish lover and this place ticked all the boxes for me! I went as part of a groupon deal and so It was supposed to be just a little bite to eat! I was completely surprised! There was pitta 2 different types of hummus, olives, all different types of leaves, stuffed vine leaves and falafel and this was only 7euro per person! Delish… yum, yum yum By far one of the best vege meals I have had in quite some time. This is quite an eat and go diner but it is definitely worth trying at least once. The price is right, the food is so fresh and tasty and the staff are really lovely too!!! All in all I am very happy I tried this out and I will definitely be paying a visit again in the near future!

I had a groupon voucher for here. € 15 for 5 Mezza plates for two people. Was not impressed with salad/Mezza plates(side dishes) as they were mediocre, with the exception of the Baba Ghanouj dip which was yum. The falafel was delicious, the bread ok. However, the prices up on their menu(2 plates for € 7.50) were similar to my voucher so was not pleased with that!
