Great vegetarian food at reasonable prices. One of my sure-fire places to eat when in Dublin.

As a vegan visiting in Dublin, food choices can be iffy and far between. However, Juice has a great menu and the ambiance of the place is also good. People watching from the windows is one of the best forms of entertainment! The only justification for 3 starts(and not 4) was the service. I know this is an Ireland thing(so I’ve been told) but it was pretty crummy. I had to walk up to the bar twice to ask for stuff — and even my check. I suggest the Juice Burger — a homemade vegan patty with chips. Food comes out pretty fast and the flavor is great! Bottom line… vegans/vegetarians in Dublin can’t be choosers. Places like Juice are a welcome sign on the horizon, even if the service is sub par.

I went here for lunch about two weeks ago, we were enticed by their cheap lunch advertisements and the fact that my companion is a vegetarian. Well you sure won’t get fat with the portions that they give for their lunch options which seem very pricey in light of the portions and just the poor craftsmanship that goes into the food. Very disappointing and I won’t be rushing back. I’d rather more imagination go into my food if I want basic I’ll go to a greasy spoon café that does not pretend to be something it’s not.

A friend recently told me about a place that serves huervos rancheros and I instantly knew we had to go there for brunch one day since I miss anything Mexican. Coming in with high expectations and an extensive menu(we all wanted to try numerous items before settling) we were very excited to go here. Unfortunately, things started off with a bad omen: no mimosas, which are a brunch staple. No worries, they did have a rum smoothie. Bad omen #2: I ordered a strawberry banana smoothie and my friend order another smoothie that also had banana in it. When they arrived, both smoothies looked the same dark grey, but I couldn’t taste any strawberry in mine. Our meals arrived very quickly and I quickly noticed that the guacamole in my huervos rancheros was actually still an avocado, which made me sad. My meal looked nice, but it seemed more like a quesadilla rather than crispy tortillas and there was no spicy kick at all to my meal, which made the meal rather bland. Service was also pretty slow(there was no pepper on our table and it took the staff about 5 or 7 minutes to get us one). At the end of the meal, we all gave those knowing looks that we were disappointed and wouldn’t be coming back. Overall, I’m not sure I’d go back here due to my experience with brunch, but the lunch/dinner menu did look more promising and the reviews for lunch sound pretty good.

I love this place! Probably my 2nd favorite place in all of Dublin! Do you know how hard it is to eat out with a vegan? Pretty hard lol, thank you Juice! It has great prices, great portions, and is well located. I like them better than Cornocopia, and the staff has always been super friendly. They have great lunch deals as well. For around 8 euro you get a hefty lunch, and their early bird is amazing too. Definitely recommended, I could eat her every day.

I was up this end of town last week during lunchtime and I thought I would have some healthy lunch. The ad in the window for a 7.952 course lunch, drew me in also. For start I had the soup which was a lovely cauliflower and potato soup. It was the right temperature, not too hot and not too cold. This can be a big problem in some restaurants. It was nicely seasoned and not too salty. The service was excellent and very friendly and prompt. I then went for the brie and avocado sandwich and I was expecting a lot more. It was a very small and basic sandwich. Looking around, and seeing other customers dishes, I realised I had made the wrong choice. I am going to come here again and not choose the sandwich. Oh Annie is right, it is full of women, there was one other guy in the place but he had a strange habit of putting his hand slightly inside his trousers while looking at his laptop. Very strange. !!! Lets hope he is not there the next time I go.

As a vegetarian, and being allergic to dairy, I loathe going out for dinner in Dublin. I find myself going around in circles trying to find a reasonably priced place that has at least one option, especially when you want something slightly different than what you would usually cook at home. I was delighted when we came across Juice, as I now have somewhere I can go and I won’t have to worry about a lack of choices. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 course early bird(€ 15.50 til 8pm), though there was not much substance in the corn fritters. We need more places like this, as Dublin seems to be devoid of healthy, reasonably priced and original menu options in it’s restaurants.

I’m an equal opportunities food eater, so I’ve no problem eating in veggie places… ok I have one problem, actually two problems but I’ll come to that… it’s nice to go to a place where veggie friends can feel overcome by choice on the menu, and I really don’t need to eat meat with every meal, so a trip to Juice seemed to be grand to me. It seemed even better when the sign said 3 course early bird for 15.50 and they’re not too restrictive with their times(5pm to 8pm and includes Saturday). However, and these are my issues with veggie restaurants, why does everything involve beansprouts and tofu? I mean in the grand panoply of food available which doesn’t involve things with faces why does every dish include beansprouts and tofu? I order a stir fry for a main, which was pretty good aside from the pile of raw beansprouts placed on top and the tofu hidden within it, neither item was mentioned on the menu. A quick survey of my veggie friends(and there are many) has revealed that neither beansprouts nor tofu are in their top favourite foods. Are they the favourite foods of all people who run vegetarian restaurants? Is it a giant conspiracy? Who knows! Anyway what we got was a 3 course meal for three people, bottle of wine, and teas/coffees for about 70 euro — I was shocked at how cheap the bill was(and they offer a 20% student discount for other occasions). The desserts were pretty good too, which is important because while I’ll happily have a meal without meat, a meal without a good dessert generally results in serious complaining. I did manage to eat around the beansprouts and tofu(not that there was any in my dessert — but you never know!), so it wasn’t that much of an issue… I just wonder is all…

Why, ohh, why do you have to have such a large price-tag on your delicious juices, Mr. Juice? Don’t get me wrong, I really like this place. It’s healthy, nutritious and tasty, good for the heart and the waist and all that, but is it just me that feels € 3.95 pretty steep for a glass of orange and carrot juice? Their meal-deals are a bit more reasonable, and you can get a two course lunch for € 7.95. I just wished I could afford a glass of their freshly squeezed juice every day.

At a place called Juice, how could I not have some? Keen to counteract the germ-filled droplets my fellow passengers no doubt coughed and sneezed in my direction while flying yesterday, I opted for an apple, cucumber and spinach concoction this morning. Not a drink I’m liable to crave anytime soon, but significantly tastier than a wheatgrass shot! For brunch, I couldn’t turn down the huevos rancheros(why do I torture myself with ordering Mexican-inspired dishes in Europe?) When it arrived with poached eggs atop I smiled. How could I not? I must take exception with the description of «American chilli» in this dish. If you’ve ever had chili in America, Juice’s version will not register. You might also wonder why it’s spelled with two ‘L’s but that’s a riddle I’ve yet to crack. I’d say this chili was a bit more like ratatouille… Overall brunch at Juice was a pleasant experience, though not one I’d come rushing back for.

Being a vegan, I want to like Juice, but this restaurant is really lacking in both their food and service. I have given the place a few tries, and it’s always been mediocre at best. Vegetarian food can be so much better than this! Really, all they need to do is use a bit of seasoning. As for the service, it doesn’t seem to matter how empty this place is(and mostly this restaurant is pretty empty), the service is ridiculously slow.

The name is utterly deceptive. Why would they call the place Juice when it is in fact a restaurant serving food? And great food at that? I still never think of coming here for something to eat, despite knowing that the fare is decent and the prices reasonable too, and I blame the name. The fare is entirely vegetarian. I had the pumpkin soup around this time last year, and I’m hoping the seasonal specialty is available again now. The vegetable fajitas are great too, and I’ve heard the bean burgers are only fantastic. Now that I’m a humble student again, I’m loving their 15% student discount.

Juice is a nice little place that you wouldn’t really think is a vegetarian restaurant. I got their three course lunch for twelve quid and was well impressed. I also got a great cup of coffee here and great coffee isn’t something all that common in restaurants. They do 15% off for students, free wifi and a great spinach pancake. Which aren’t nearly as nasty as they sound.

Juice gets major points in my book for being a vegetarian restaurant. More points added for being a delicious one. It is probably the only place in the city where you can get fresh carrot juice, tempeh, tofu many different ways, and homemade veggie burgers(aduki beans and oats, natch). This might not make much sense to a carnivore or even an omnivore, but to a veggie, this is magical. As others have mentioned before, the juices are fresh and divine and you can get some really interesting combinations like plum, avocado, orange, lemon and honey! They offer brunch, lunch and dinner menus that are all different and equally tempting. Dinner is a bit pricey for the offerings, in my opinion, but brunch and lunch are more budget-friendly. They have a 3 course lunch meal that consists of a starter, main and dessert and for 11.95 it’s not bad. Their kitchen is open until 11, which is fantastic for those who like to eat a bit later. The vibe is pretty hip, and is definitely more café-like than restaurant(though they claim to be the only sit-down vegetarian restaurant in Dublin. Is that true?).

Two words: hot chocolate. You have to try it, the stuff is amazing… I don’t usually order a h/c when out on the town, but I’ll make an exception here. I have often wandered by Juice earlyish in the hopes of popping in for some brekky. For some strange reason they don’t open until 11am, which perplexes and upsets me. You’d think a restaurant by the name ‘Juice’ would be open in the morning, wouldn’t you? Isn’t that just common sense? So, they need to work on that of course, but other than that MAJOR failing Juice does make a sweet little restaurant. There’s always a chilled out vibe and some interesting characters to gawk at. Then there’s always Great George’s Street out the window if you get sick of staring at the same faces inside. There is an extensive menu of freshly squeezed juices on sale here(hence the name!) and you can acquire any of these for just short of 4 big ones. Like everywhere in Dublin at the moment they have a lunch special so might be a good time to try its wide range of vegetarian goodies if you haven’t already? As for dessert, I’ve never tried it, but the lady at the table next to me can be quoted as saying ‘I never eat dessert when I go, but I do here’. That’s a recommendation if I ever heard one. Thanks Lucy. There is free wifi here, but it’s not the kind of place you could sit for hours and hours. Oh no, the staff are WAY too attentive for that.

Juice has a healthy, crisp Californian vibe to it with modern white furniture and a vitamin-laden vegetarian and vegan menu. As the name suggests, this restaurant prides itself on its variety of juices and smoothies including unusual combinations such as apple, carrot, beetroot and ginger juice, banana lassi and for the adventurous among us, piña colada and rum smoothies. Organic wine, beer and ale are also on offer if you fancy a tipple. Exotic liquids, however, are only the beginning of the story. Juice offers brunch, lunch, early bird and dinner menus and dishes draw on Thai, Mexican, Italian, Japanese and Mediterranean influences. The diverse range, from nori seaweed rolls to quesadillas, will be tantalising for the average Dublin vegetarian/vegetarian Dubliner(!) who is so often confined to uninventive pasta dishes when eating out. The salads are genuinely filling and the chef is creative with ingredients so ask about the salad of the day. Dinner is served from 6pm-11pm and prices are reasonable with main courses ranging from € 11.95 to € 15.95. The seats are not overly comfortable and the general feeling is clean and healthy rather than cosy or intimate but it is pleasant. Try to get a table by the window, especially during the day, so you can watch George’s Street float on by.

I’m a fan of vegetarian food. While neither vegan nor vegetarian myself(omnivore through and through), I do enjoy vegetarian food. What I don’t enjoy is the tendency of vegetarian and vegan restaurants to barely deserve the name. What Juice does is provide good vegetarian food in genuine restaurant conditions… none of this cafeteria-style eating(which has its own charm at the right time) thank you very much. The best part about this is that you can actually sit down and spend a decent amount of time over your(rather good) meal, with a bottle of wine, and in pleasant surroundings. Never totally packed, the patrons are a motley bunch. Continuing on the theme of breaking with vegetarian tradition, Juice plays host to virtually every type of person, including of course the obligatory hippie types, but expanding to include pre-theatre goers, professionals in suits and students(who get a whopping 15% off!!) The food is good and the staff are pleasant, as are the surroundings. big fan of the fairy light décor!

Gotta love it — an unpretentious and good value veggie place that doesn’t expend all its energy shouting about how great it is it doesn’t serve meat. Not to mention that it’s in prime location as regards everything without keeping you in the middle of touristville. Give it a try, and go for the specials.
