Lovely people. The Fish & Chips are top shelf, fresh and flaky. Great music and a world-class selection of international wines!

Was it the best fish and chips I ever had? No, it wasn’t but it was very good. The chips were clearly cooked in dripping or perhaps a mix but certainly not bog standard oil as they had that crunch, smell and taste of what I can remember when homemade. They were certainly among the best chips I have had. The fish was haddock, the batter adhered to the fish well but I would have preferred it crispier with more batter or perhaps added batter into the basket to serve aside. Tartar sauce could have been better, sharper perhaps but it was good. The batter itself could have been seasoned a bit more? It is all subjective of course. Its small inside but not claustrophobic as it feels bright and the exposed brick is great, glad they didn’t see a need to do anything with it. The waitress was very friendly and the wine list is small but a few good selections. I would probably go back in the summer as they have a roof terrace I believe.

Had been meaning to try here for a while and wow it didn’t disappoint! The food was really really great. It is teeny tiny and it did take us three times before we could actually get a table which can be bothersome when you just want to eat the delicious food you can smell! Already can’t wait to get back!

Very good, we had the oysters and squid for starters, the sea breem and fish n chips for mains, it was brilliant, definitely recommended. Tiny place, so prepare for a wait in the pub, but that’s not a complaint.

Well… they did it. They got better since the first time I was here. Service is prompt but relaxed, they always seem to find the right tone. The food is still amazing and I will keep coming back for more.

This is another great addition to the Stoneybatter/Smithfield area. I’ve always been happy when leaving here. It’s a small restaurant that only holds about 15 – 20. It has a private dinig area out the back. This takes the restaurant on to another level IMHO, and should be used more by the guys. On to the food: The Fish Burger is a deep fried piece of fish served in a brioche bun and it’s worth coming back again for. The fish of the day is usually deep fried in batter. The fish is so fresh that is almost melts in your mouth. The only gripe I have is that it doesn’t come with chips or tartar sauce. these are extra and to be honest, the chips are a bit dissapointing anyway. Overall this place is fab. The staff are great; the food is delisious and the wine is well chosen. It won’t dissapoint.

I was honestly disappointed with the fish n chips here. The daily catch was hake and I really didn’t think it was much to write home about. I thought it was rather bland and the tartar sauce… Well it was good but I’ve had better. They charge € 1.50 for it and the portion is SOMEAGER. I was so disappointed that they give you small portions of it, charge extra only to find it to be mediocre. But the rather tasteless fish needed something. The server was very attentive and good but I asked to see if they could give me a small side of slaw to which I was given a quick no to by the kitchen. All in all I will not be back to such a stingy establishment with rather mediocre food

The«Fillet O Fish Shop» is absolutely gorgeous. It’s essentially a fish burger, but it was so light and refreshing! My mate and myself shared a serving of chips and garlic mayo, top marks for both ;-) They have a small menu which looks like it changes from day to day. I think this is great, much prefer small menus and ensures everything is fresh and interesting. I had a look at the other tables and everything looked amazing. The service was excellent and the restaurant has a great vibe. I noticed a sign saying there was an outdoor area opening next week too! I was so close to giving Fish Shop 5 stars. It lost one star due to the cockles which lacked flavour. They were basically served in water with little evidence of the sauce(however, the cockles themselves were very fresh and juicy). The shared starter, two Fillet O Fish Shop and side order of chips(+garlic mayo) set us back € 33 which I felt was priced about right.

Walked into this unremarkable from the outside restaurant not knowing what to expect. It had great execution of traditional fish and chips. I had the fish of the day which was fried to perfection, not greasy at all. The sides were good including chips. Staff was very attentive. Prices were reasonable for Dublin. Worth going to if you are in Smithfield vicinity.

Best fish burger I’ve ever had… hands down! This place is located on Queen Street, just a short walk from Smithfield Luas stop, across from Dice Bar! They don’t take reservations but if you call in and they don’t have a table they will take your number as you go into one of the pubs nearby and give you a ring when they’re ready for you! They only open at five, so you can’t hit it up for lunch unfortunately. We went in just after five and walked straight into an empty table but some of my friends haven’t been so lucky. The décor is clean and simple. There’s a big window at the front with some stools facing out. There’s a row of tables along the wall with seats for approx. 15 people and the kitchen is clearly visible at the back. The menu is small but hits all the right spots, and they have weekly specials too. I had the Fillet O’Fish Shop(fish burger) and it was perfection. Fresh haddock fillet on a brioche bun served with an apple, mint and fennell salad– it was so good I would have eaten two. Well, ok, I don’t think I would have managed two because they’re fairly big, but you get the idea. We got chips and garlic mayo to share and they also have a small but nice selection of craft beer so a can of Metalman washed it down nicely. We didn’t have time for dessert but I’ll definitely be back and plan on stuffing my face with some then! This place is definitely worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed!

This location is only a few months old but was already packed from day one(guess their fan base followed them from the Blackrock Market where they were previously located). We stopped in on a Sunday night at 8:30pm, and the wait for a table for two was still 45 minutes. They don’t take reservations, so get there early or be prepared for a wait! They will, however, happily take your number and call when your table is ready, and there are many nearby bars to kill a pint or two before dinner. I really love the cozy interior. It’s small and modern, with crisp wood paneling and chalkboard walls. The menu is small and the kitchen whips out the orders fast, especially for food that’s being cooked-to-order. We ordered the fish & chips(of course) and the fish burger. The fish was incredibly fresh & moist and the batter light and super crispy. This could easily be a contender for one of the best fish & chips I’ve had in Dublin to date! We washed it down with a couple beers, but they have a few wines as well. The dining room waitstaff could be a bit more polished — we had to ask for water several times before it was brought to us, and they forgot our beers — but it really wasn’t a big deal. Overall, we still really enjoyed our experience. I’m so happy this place opened up in our neighbourhood!

Best fish and chips in town! PS: leur F&C me manqué déjà!!

Five of us went here before going to see Dara O’Briain at Vicar Street on a Wednesday evening. They only have a few seats so we were unable to book and they were full when we got there. They took my name and said that it would be around 40 minutes for a table. Went across the road to Dice Bar for a pint or two(Which they suggest on their website — great idea!!) After about 50 minutes the lads were getting a bit restless and worried we wouldn’t have time to eat Dare I say they might’ve been getting hangry?! Anyhow they suggested we walk to Leo Burdock’s instead so I went in to cancel the table and was told they were just about to ring to say a table would be ready in 5 minutes as people were just paying their bills!!! I called them back and we waited for the table to clear and be cleaned down. They guessed we were in a rush so took our order while we waited for the table to be cleared. I ordered the Fillet o’Fish Shop(Hake Fillet on a toasted brioche bun with fennel, apple, garlic mayo and mint) and a white wine. The fish was melt in the mouth and the brioche bun was perfect. We also got chips, bread and tartare sauce for the table. There was a couple of chip butties had by the others lol. The staff are really nice and welcoming. The smell as you’re waiting(Which isn’t even that long) is AMAZING!!! It is small. Maybe they seat about 15(at a push?) but the food is so so good and it is seriously well worth the wait for a table.

Eh this place was actually even better than I’d heard. As the Arctic Monkeys say, ‘anticipation has the habit to set you up for disappointment’ — but not in this instance! Firstly, we got lucky and strolled right in to an empty table ready and waiting for us. The place is small, but perfectly formed, and I hear that this occurrence is rare! We were greeted with welcomes and smiles, and a lovely waft of foodie smells coming from the small kitchen. The food was really outstanding. Most of the specials were gone by the time we got there as it was closer to 9, so we went for the staples of fish burgers in a brioche bun. The fish was melt in your mouth fresh. It had a gorgeous unusual slaw, and the bread was perfection. We also got a green salad(literally just leaves!) and a mix of pickled veggies which was exceedingly pretty though maybe not massive in portion, and chips to share. The star of the show for me was the tartare sauce. Is that weird? It’s the nicest tartare I’ve ever tasted! There seemed to be dill and capers in it with some pickles which really gave it such a nice crunch and flavour. The wine menu is excellent value as well which is great to see. I think my glass was in around the 5 euro mark and bottles are upwards of 20ish. *They still aren’t doing take out and say at the moment that they’ve no immediate plans to do so(boo urns). Let’s hope they change their mind as I could see myself frequenting the spot on a much more regular basis if they did.

One of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had! Two items to chose from I went with the fish burger it was out of this world! Lovely atmosphere, extremely friendly staff!

If fish do have feelings, they’d be more than content to reach the end of the road and be served to happy diners here. There’s barely room for 20 diners. No reservations, so swing by, grab a seat if there’s one free or leave your number and come when called. Tried the fish and chips. Just-cooked hake, great no-regrets-after batter and pale-golden chips; washed down with a Metalman tinnie. Two big thumbs up. You’ll pay a fiver more than for takeaway from Burdocks or Beshoffs, but, no kidding, it’s light years better. I wish we had more fish restaurants like this. Really, I do.

Went here twice — both times was greeted by a rude hipster at the door who practically shoved us out of the place I can only presume for not being hipsters. Were told they were full for the night, several hours before closing with at least two sets of tables visibly free! I suspect they may have run out of food. Once the hype dies down I don’t see them lasting unless they decide on better customer service.

Does what it says on the… sign?! Great little spot, simple menu, simple food, simple space all done excellently. Everything is fresh and cooked in front of you, flavour is perfect. Staff are friendly and the space, while small, is really nice and bright. Catch of the day was hake when we were there, it was so tasty and flaky and the batter was light and crispy. Will 100% be back!
