Terrible experience at Fresh IFSC. The manager is extremely unprofessional and treats both customers and employees poorly. I’ve seen him be rude to customers and unfairly harsh towards staff, especially those who struggle with English. The favoritism in hiring is also obvious new employees seem to get hired whether or not they’re qualified, as long as they’re Indian. Almost the entire staff is Indian, which makes it clear what’s going on. Not the kind of place that values good service or fairness. Won’t be shopping here again.

Not for me personally. Too much of a supermarket vibe. I would rather visit a farmers market, local green grocer or a real specialist food shop.

Fresh is a convenient grocery shop, a bit on the expensive side but with very good quality products on offer. It’s kept well stocked and clean throughout the day, and there’s usually security at the door keeping the order. You can find almost anything you need, including some ethnic foods and also nice treats, like speciality teas and baked goods. Their bread is quite nice, especially the wholemeal sourdoughs. If you are on a special diet, Fresh also has you covered, selling a variety of non-dairy milks — almond, coconut, soy, rice — and gluten-free foods. On the other hand, if your food choices are more about buying fair trade or organic, locally sourced products, you can pick a slightly more expensive package of quinoa or some delicious sprouts from The Happy Pear here that won’t weigh so much on your conscience. There are deals to be found here, especially on seasonal fruit as well as some wines. Additionally, there’s an Insomnia café inside, a deli counter open during weekdays and a small but good magazine and newspapers stand.

The chicken fillets they use in their deli sandwiches and rolls don’t seem to be chicken fillets, but rather have been reconstituted into a particular shape. Really horrible. If it’s not chicken fillet, they should make that clear. I bought 2 cans of Slatterys Cider, and both were out of date by just under a month. There is nothing particularly Fresh about this shop. It is really quite similar to the Mace that was there before, although it does have a coffee shop area, and is more expensive.

This shop replaced the Mace which was there previously. They have done a good job with the new floor plan and have really opened it up more and made it much easier to navigate. The staff are friendly and the prices are not too bad, but the one thing I found that I did take a star off for was the other night I popped in to grab some bog roll as we were running short and they only had one option and it was a fiver for four rolls.
