A great way to start my first morning in Dublin. The double baked eggs and side of brown bread was delicious. Service was fast and friendly and the coffee strong and hot. Very Nice! I will definitely return.

What’s not to like about the delicious breakfast that I had here? The bacon, eggs and sausages were served in such a nice way. A small pan with everything in it. Took a nice warm chocolate milk with whipped cream with it and they shaped a little heart in the cream. This was super nice and I had a good time here. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Some points for improvement. Orange Juice should be fresh, not out of a package. Wifi connection was not working and a I felt cold air breezing in when we were sitting next to the window at first. Be that as it may, we still had a wonderful time here and I can really recommend this place to anyone in this area looking for an awesome breakfast. You can easily overlook this place when you walk by. My advice is to look down :-)

I got the very tasty double baked eggs and they were delicious, which was good as we were waiting nearly an hour! The food was good and prices fair enough but I’d recommend take away or a weekday to anyone under time pressure.

Set in a cellar underneath the little museum of Dublin on St. Stephen’s Green, this place offers a nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices. We both went for a different version of the Blaa sandwich, the signature dish from Co. Waterford. A bit of a mix between a regular sandwich and a burger but with soft bread texture that allows the other ingredients like Wicklow Cheddar and Irish ham to be tasted to perfection. Absolutely recommend you try them out yourself!

Excellent . Not expensive: the best salad I have eaten in Dublin(tasty, generous and not expensive :9.50 €). My husband tried the Irish breakfast: good looking and tasty(good be more generous). Coffee is excellent! Very cosy place,! Try it !

It’s a very open kitchen, so much so that I didn’t even realize the kitchen was right there and I almost walked right into it. There’s a very rustic, this is your home kinda open vibe here. Sadly, we only had one breakfast here. I only wish we had more meals to spend at Hatch and Sons. We both had the double baked eggs with breakfast meats. Everything was delightful, though I wish the butter wasn’t so ice cold despite being near a hot skillet. I was a bit disappointed that one of the two double baked eggs had a completely baked yolk. However, the accompanying brown bread was quite good. We also tried a scone. The scone has a tender crumb and comes paired with jam and butter.

Hatch and Sons, you can bake my eggs. In fact, you can bake all the eggs. Last week’s Sunday Brunch took place at Hatch and Sons and after having this place bookmarked for over a year, I was really eggcited to give this place a try. I ordered the Double Baked Eggs, which came in a small pan with bacon, sausage, and roasted tomato with a side of soda bread. The food was beautifully presented and everything was cooked perfectly. As soon as my knife broke into the yolk, angels started singing in celestial awe. I’m usually not a big fan of bacon, but I’ve got to say I thoroughly enjoyed it – or perhaps it’s the Irish growing in me. One thing I loved about this place was the interior setting – an open kitchen with tables all around. It’s like you’re enjoying a nice meal at a family get together. The only thing I didn’t appreciate about this place was the service. Our server had a very please-order-and-leave attitude and I didn’t like it, especially when I was real keen on trying this place out. Other than that, I had a nice experience here and would come again.

I’ve been there twice on a Sunday for brunch. There’s always room to sit as the place is quite big although you wouldn’t guess from outside. Had the smoked salmons and fresh mackerel twice as it was so good. The bread is also to die for. Also had the scones and brownies, both were delicious. I also really liked the fact that I could order a mug of Americano — coffee lovers you have to go :)

Well this was lovely. Walking in I took the place for a cross between a school and a kitchen. The bright airiness was cheerful and the ‘open’ kitchen area was very interesting. It was great to watch the staff buzz around while I sat relaxing with a coffee(not great for them as, though they were cheerful they were super busy!) The menu was nice. Fairly hearty looking stuff. The brunch menu was sufficient and there seemed to an emphasis on Blaas, which made me wonder… do they ship them in fresh each day? Have they somehow managed to circumvent the protected ‘Blaa’ status? My nosy questions aside, I went for the porridge and was overwhelmed with the quantity. it was delicious but was bordering on a chore after a while. I didn’t finish it. The coffee was delicious and this is clearly a busy spot, wel placed and buzzing! I’d liek to come back to try some of the delicious salads I saw were available… and to ask questions about the Blaas… I’m nothing if not curious…

Have waked past this place a few time always thinking that I should try it. So a few weeks ago myself the the better half dropped in around lunch time. We had about a 5 min wait until a table cleared up for us and when it we were brought to our table which was in a second room at the back of the restaurant. It seated about 20 or so. If I go back again I’d ask not to be seated in that room again. The high ceilings and the size of the room created a loud echoing atmosphere. Was kinda hard to talk over. So after sitting at the table for 25 mins clearly looking board and hungry at this stage asked if someone could take our order. Which the guy did. Another 30 mins later our food came out! Finally! As I was about to leave! I ordered the full Irish which is served in a small skillet pan and brown bread. I was disappointed from the get go! Everything apart from the bread was over done! The egg was just like rubber. We ate our food as we now had no time to eat somewhere else. When paying the bill on the way out the waiter asked if everything was alright to which I replied, No, we were waiting nearly an hour for our food. It’s not good enough for a lunch menu. He looked surprised and just said sorry we’re busy today.

First impressions are promising. A lovely space in a great location just off Stephens Green, décor is understated retro cottage style. The chefs assemble the food on a gigantic island table which is almost in the middle of the restaurant floor. Staff very friendly and welcoming to the passing tourist and local alike. I ordered the filter coffee which was amazing, and the double baked eggs with brown soda bread, sausage and bacon. While I waiting I saw another diner getting the porridge which looked very nice and served in a huge bowl(take note Starbucks with your minuscule porridge portions!) with a pot of organic honey. The sausage blaas at the table next to me also looked great, real Waterford blaas in Dublin? Looked like it. Served on wooden paddles so sure to infuriate the«we want plates» brigade! My double baked eggs arrived in a cast iron skillet on the ubiquitous wooden board, with soda bread and a knob of butter riding sidesaddle. The butter was a bit cold and solid but sliding it over next youths piping hot skillet soon sorted that. The sausages were cooked butterfly style but we’re pretty small, the bacon was crispy and had a beautiful smoky flavour. I’d have preferred more back and less sausage but there you go. If I was going again if skip the bacon & sausage and just have the eggs on their own, they are that good(and the dish is € 4 cheaper to boot). The American tourists at the next table asked to take away the leftover porridge, a request that was greeted not just with good grace but also the offer from their server of a small takeaway pot of honey to accompany it… they were also engaged in conversation when they asked about the way their bacon was cooked to be so divinely crispy. I have a lot of respect for the staff who work here — they are simultaneously chefs, waiters and waitresses, front of house and also food evangelists as well as being very friendly, engaging & good humoured. A lot of bigger establishments could learn from their level of service. Kudos to Hatch & Sons, I’ll be back to tackle that massive bowl of porridge next.

I can’t NOT give this place 5 stars because I ate here for 3 breakfasts during my week in Dublin(all 3 times it was the baked egg + meats, because it’s solid and doesn’t really have any quantity competition on their menu). I have no idea what lunch or dinner is like, but their location is great for a morning visit if your hotel is easterly(walk to Hatch, eat breakfast, enjoy St. Stephens’ Green for a bit, head west for stuff), and it became our group’s default morning rendezvous location. You can also get a cup of pretty decent drip coffee to go for € 1, which I did every time I found myself walking past.

Disappointing. Have wanted to try this place out for awhile now and finally today, was my day. As we walked in could see the place was buzzin, plenty full and staff whizzing around… Seated after a short 1 or 2 minute wait and was super excited to see the menu and get munching however once seated, it pretty nuch went downhill from there. After 15 minutes seated, nobody came near us, no offer of a menu, no offer of table water, no nothing… We finally had to grab a waiter and ask for menus. Ok, me thinks, all will come good… Unfortunately not! We ordered within 2 minutes of getting the menu, hunger was taking over so wanted to order in asap… 1 breakfast and 1 spicy beef blaa, potato salad with a cup of tea and a flat white and then the waiting started again… Over 15 minutes went by before the tea/cofee arrived to our table albeit with an apology from the server about the wait, excusing that they were very busy and rushed off their feet all day. Sipping away, I should felt the time ticking over yet again, oh no, where is my food! My coffee was now finished at this point, it was in total from the time we arrived into the place, 50 mins before our food made an appearance… Quite frankly, we were just about to stand up and leave when it arrived to the table. Hallelujah!!! That hallelujah was sorted lived, they forgot the potatoe salad which I had to ask after and then, as I got into the spicy beef blaa I ordered, @ € 6.50 was shocked to see just a very thin, barely there slice of beef on the blaa, the volume was coming from the cheese and rocket though really feel at that price, come on, give me some meat, amongst the relish and mayo I couldn’t actually taste the beef cause there really was just not enough of it! When wrapping up the bill, we did mention at the counter we were disappointed with the timings which they apologised, though I think it was more of an awkward, sorry as opposed to really knowing how to deal with negative feedback. Shame, what others seem to have found in this place, I just haven’t!

Well, it is probably worth like 3.5 stars to me, but I am in a good mood. Some friends recommended the place, so we had brunch there. Not really expensive, but when you first look at your plate, you think ‘wow, the quantity is really small’. Unlike a lot of NY brunch places where coffee and orange juice, etc., are included, here, do not hesitate to order various things on the menu. So not expensive, but then you do not get much to eat. In the end, it is ok because the food is rich and you are full. Food was good, chees in particular, but bread a bit too dry. Service was cool but seats and tables really not clean. The building is beautiful, and if the weather is nice, there is a terrace. A lot of seating inside with several rooms. Kind of a hipster place, rather a good vibe, and you can eat real Irish food, so would recommend for tourists.

It’s little places like this that make me so glad to be part of the Unilocal community– I would never even have noticed the place! It’s down below the Little Museum of Dublin and it’s a clean, open and cosy café. It wasn’t too busy when I was there, on a Thursday morning after nine, so the service was perfect. I had the baked eggs with sausage and bacon and it hit the spot just nicely! The brown bread that came along with it was just delicious, and the coffee I had was incredible! Rich and chocolatey and with a nice touch of latte art. I’ll definitely be back again!

I love the feel of this place, you can see that you are in what was the kitchens and servants quarters of a big house in a past life; the new décor added to make this a restaurant, have been chosen to fit in — right down to the huge table /island from which the staff work to make the coffees and sandwiches. We were in for a quick bite, I opted for the bacon blah which was exactly what it said it was — but I was presuming it would have a bit of salad or something in it too… my bad, it was tasty but could have done with a little something extra. If you can, get a table in the main area — as you come in, the atmosphere is nicer, you are less likely to feel as though you have been shoved in a corner — plus it is better for people watching!

This place is absolutely adorable and the food is rockin! Hatch and Sons was not too far a walk from my hotel while in Dublin, so my bf and I decided to check them out before venturing off into the rest of the city. For those unfamiliar with the area, Hatch and Sons is a few meters away from Grafton St, tucked in the basement of the Little Irish Museum. Contrary to the basement location, this little dive is a breath of fresh air. The walls are painted white and the kitchen is open for all to see. The kitchen island is filled with all sort of things for purchase and is simultaneously used by the kitchen and the host/cashier. For eats, I had ordered the SMOKEDMACKERELSALAD with a side of brown bread, and my other half, a ROASTBEEFBLAASSANDWICH with side salad. My salad was wonderful. There was plenty of sliced mackerel on my heaping bed of delicate greens. The vinaigrette was light and not too tangy. My boyfriend’s Blaas Sandwich was out of this world. The bread has immense flavor and super soft! I had requested for some strawberry jam for my bread and it was such a treat. Hatch and Sons was probably one of my favorite meals while in Dublin!

Recently visited Hatch & Sons at The Little Museum of Dublin on St. Stephen’s Green. Walk down the external steps into the basement of 15 St. Stephen’s Green into a v cute little courtyard. Really old fashioned fireplace takes centre stage as you walk in the door(you can just about make it out in the above photo!) and an entrance that’s looks like it should be the front of someone’s house leads you to another seating area. It looks like a house drawn by a child as they imagine a house with windows on either side of the door. Afraid my fiancé refused to take a photo to share as I couldn’t get a good angle from my seat but if you decide to visit you’ll see what I mean. We got a pot of filter coffee. I ordered the bakers basket(brown soda bread, scone & half a blaa — all toasted & served with butter and jam or marmalade).Fiancé ordered porridge and we(rather boldly) decided to have dessert at breakfast and ordered an apple streusel cake!!! The toast was well toast but not overly done. It was good :) Fiancé obviously started with the healthy option. Nice spot at any time of day I would think!

Très bonne adresse pour le déjeuner, des bons produits pour un prix très correct. La salle est un petit peu bruyante mais le contenu de votre assiette vous fait vite oublier. Le service est agréable et rapide. A recommander.

Sensible Breakfast well almost if you exclude the apple streusel. This is a nice spot and I must have walked past it many times and never noticed it tucked away down under the little museum of Dublin. The inside is old cottage, nice and open. The porridge will keep me full for the next 2 weeks and the filter coffee they serve is simply outstanding. We shared an apple streusel that was full of apple snd very thickly sliced. Give this place a try you won’t be disappointed.

¡Id!
