Hippety’s is a comfy and cute place to have a snack, lunch or just a coffee. I stumbled upon it over a year ago when on holidays in Dublin. My friend and I were on the rather annoying mission to find a café or pub to drink an Irish coffee that didn’t look too much like a tourist trap when we came upon this offbeat little place.(They served us Irish Coffee and Baileys Coffee but I don’t know if they still have that.) When I came back to live in Dublin last autumn I was happy to go there again from time to time. I am still a big fan of the cute décor(many lampshades and an eclectic but tasteful compilation of illustrations and paintings), the pillows and tea cosies. As a vegetarian I like that the menu has a lot of meatless options. The staff is nice, maybe not with the most highly professional and organised service attitude you might expect in a high class café or restaurant but instead they are sympathetic, friendly and laid back about foreigners asking a few questions more than usual.(Then again, that’s all I really ask for/expect from a place like that.) All in all I really enjoyed my visits to Hippety’s so far. The reason why I really love hanging around there, however, is the music that plays in the background. Seriously, it sounds like someone grabbed all my favourite tapes and mix CDs from the 90ties and early 2000s and filled it up with some new stuff and suggestions from Spotify. So I have a quite personal reason to bring new friends and first dates there(to test their compatibility with my musical background) but I can assure you that the music goes well with the overall indie-vibe and eclectic atmosphere.

I like to pop in here once in a while for glass of wine or a hot drink. Comfy seats with pillows, cozy and quirky decorations… what’s not to like. I’ve yet to try their food menu!

My sisters and I ordered our food(including two appetizers) and for twenty minutes, all we got was our glasses of water and salad dressing with two dead flies sitting in the bottle. When I sent back the bottle, the waiter giggled instead of apologizing. I got up to go to the bathroom, and when I sat back down, I heard the manager saying to our waiter that he never put our order in because he thought I left when I went to the bathroom. As the food took longer and longer to come out, I asked him if there was a problem because I had heard his comment, to which he very defensively replied that they make everything in house so «yeah, it’s gonna take some time». Only ten minutes after that did our food finally come out– our appetizers simply never made it. Nobody apologized when they brought the food or check out, even though they forgot the appetizers and it took forty minutes to make a veggie burger and two salads. When I complained, the waiter again just giggled. Overall, this place can be characterized as unsanitary, dishonest, and downright hostile to its guests. Considering all the charming, well-run, and delicious restaurants in Dublin, don’t waste your time at this one!

Great place it was the first and last spot in our euro trip and couldn’t have picked a better place especially jet lagged. Great coffee fresh food good tunes so cozy makes you feel at home when you’re so far away. The owner so so nice and welcoming loved the cool kitschy décor. #10sacrosstheboard

Great little café with excellent coffee, tasty food and cozy seating. We were wandering around Temple Bar Dublin looking for somewhere nice to have some food, sit down and relax for a bit in a place that wasn’t a pub or tourist slop food joint. What a great find, good food and nice service. its not the cheapest place, but we didn’t want that either. Highly recommend Hippety’s.

Immer wieder gerne hier!

Fun, quirky, and eclectic café in the midst of Temple Bar. Super cool area with super cool people. Food wasn’t bad! Pretty good prices too.

Really Nice spot to have a full irish breakfast. And it is very cheap: less than 10 euros! The place is very lovely and in the heart of temple bar !

I didn’t get to try anything extravagant while here as I was only in for a side dish and some tea(which were good, no complaints). But I went in mostly because of the colourful deco! The staff were quite friendly and quick to serve too so I think that it deserves good rates.

This quirky little café, bar, gallery sums up Dublin, it is a place that seems to extract all the best of an era and totally omit all the nastiness, hippertys is like a really cool 1960’s hippy home, amazing quirky Decore, warm and with super service, we enjoyed a sandwich and they come with chips, proper hand cut deep fried chips. I loved it here, not sure my mum would like it, but I recommend it as a great coffee shop with something else, the X factor if you like.

We came in here while ambling aimlessly around Temple Bar, hoping to find a nice place for a coffee. It’s small, busy & fantastically decorated. The server came & for the day that was in it we got 2 Irish Cream coffees. Absolutely delish! Served hot with the right amount of Irish Cream, often places that make these coffees either can’t get the temperature right or can’t get the alcohol proportion right but this place did it well!

Cute little café in temple bar with relatively decent coffee. Unfortunately it loses a couple of stars for me as it lacks any real wow factor. Also, I am still coming to terms with the fact that I willingly spent almost € 10 on a plain old ham’n’cheese toastie and a coffee. I could have got the same sandwich with a pint in plenty of nearby establishments with plenty of that elusive«wow factor,» change from the aforementioned € 10 leaving me in a much better financial position today and with that bitter taste washed away by sir Arthur himself.

After a day of wandering around Dublin 8 and in need of a good sit, I ended up in Temple bar. I decided to try this endearing little corner café having passed it and said to myself ‘muss go ther’ innumerable times. Cosy, quirky décor, and a general ambiance of artful mis-matchedness. I only got a coffee, which was surprisingly smooth, but the menu was certainly inviting. I came after the lunch rush so of course it was more serene than would be normal. So I would say it a good spot for an afternoon pick me up or a place to meet a friend and gas over tea. There is a outdoor terrace which benefits from just onto the nice cobbled area of Temple Bar, and is a plus for the summer months. The lady, who I presume was the manager/owner is, I imagine, a formidable one but very friendly and engaging. She injects that casual, family-run rather than hipster feeling to the place. I feel I can’t really give 4 stars until I try the food. Overall, a pleasant experience.

This café is in an ideal location in Temple Bar. It is small inside but has outdoor seating which is an added bonus especially on sunny days. I love the décor inside, all bright with funky colours, paintings, scattered cushions. It has a really nice feel to it. They have a decent sized menu and serve beer and wine if you feel like a tipple. It’s all going very well so far — so why only three stars? Well on the few times I have visited I have only stopped by for a coffee or beer and a natter and I haven’t tried the food. The last time there I ordered the fratata, which when it served to me looked the biz but when I tasted it was bland, luke warm and was a premade bang in the microwave job. My friends sandwich looked nice but until I try something else to eat from the menu, my stars will remain at three. I will be back.

I had seen this place before and thought it to be yet another hipster joint in Temple Bar. But today when I was looking to get a coffee with a friend I was trying to think of an independent business close enough to Trinity front gate and this is all I could think of. Trinity gates are surrounded by Costa’s and Starbucks alike and the places on Dawson st. are starting to bore me, so it was a nice change. Hippety’s is colorful, cute and quirky. They have some nice seating areas filled with cushions and it’s not too busy. It is perfect for a coffee and a chat. They serve their coffee in the kind of mugs you might own at home, which felt a little unprofessional, but added to the relaxed atmosphere. However a coffee that looks just like what you would make when you put your own kettle on is a little harder to pay for. It was pretty expensive too. I paid € 3.50 for a Chai latte and it wasn’t anything special. They also don’t have a card machine which is a pain. I always forget cash and had to leave my friend and run down to the cash link in the central square. All in all it’s a nice spot for a quiet tea on your own or a chat with friend. There’s outdoor seating too for when the weather gets better. Worth a try!

Nice mugs for coffee(and presumably tea!). I just had coffee here and, as you can see from the photo I took, it was served beautifully. It was also quite good, though nothing special… I loved the décor here and I think that’s what brought me in more than the staff or the menu, which, was very lunch-y rather than café. I wish I could be more enthusiastic about this place, but I have no great desire to return and considering other comments by Unilocalers, such as no card machines and menus, indifferent staff, etc, more changes would need to be made to make me go back.

Coolest bathroom in Dublin! Its like a mini fair-ground! The vibe is relaxed and comfortable. They don’t take any card payments though which is a pain in the butt. Music is nice, café is warm. Food was good. Its a really nice place to chill out and I like that the waiting staff are not on top of you. They take your order and go. Great place to read, write, drink tea and watch the world go by.

Cute little spot in Temple Bar. Lovely bright and quirky décor, and if you get a seat against the wall, you’ll be facing massive windows looking out over the pathway, perfect for people watching. I can’t comment on the food, but ordered a strawberry tea that came ensconsed in a wooly tea cosy, drank using a china teacup and saucer. Very cute. A few issues put me off a little. The waitress was pretty unfriendly and unwelcoming — this is a sure fire way of dettering me from coming back again. They also only take cash, no cards, have no wifi, and when I arrived at 11.55, I was told that I could only see the breakfast menu until 12. I pushed the issue and was eventually brought a lunch menu. Little elements like this can really add up against a place. It may have been an off-day, so I would go back again. But cmon guys, get a card machine, seriously.

This place managed to be open for a year before I discovered it last weekend –and what a little gem it is! Such a small space, we were lucky to get a table. The décor is very cute, very Alice in Wonderland, and while we only went along for beverages of the tea/coffee variety, I liked the look of the food being served to other customers. I expected the shelf of books to consist of the usual battered and pretentious left-overs from a lazy Arts student’s bedroom but there are actually some excellent heavy-hitters there to peruse if one goes alone. And it opens til midnight of weekends! A great find.

Compared to the boisterous hive that is Temple Bar, walking in here is like falling down the proverbial rabbit hole, right into the midst of the tea party chapter. Except there’s beer here, and the people are sound. And their coffee is lovely. Before my analogy falls apart, well, just know that it’s an intimate, Avoca-esque café that’s open late, also serves beer, wine, & food, and has a rotating gallery of work from local artists on sale hanging on its walls. Seating is mostly plush and cosy, and the noise level is pretty tame. Be warned, however: it’s tiny, and so it can be tough to get a seat sometimes. Also, if you sit next to the door, prepare for a draught and wear something warm. That aside though, this place is just fun; recommended.

Hippety’s is a new café, wine bar and gallery in Temple Bar. I was first attracted to the doll house like décor and paintings and being a coffee lover I had to take the plunge. If you have a sweet tooth you’ll like this place, Hippety’s not only bake great cakes but their bread is also baked on site. In fact they take great pride in this. I had a chocolate tea cake and coffee for € 4.90. The cake was beautifully presented with chocolate sauce and the coffee was a good quality brew I will return
