This would have been the number one place had I been here 5 years ago. Now it is a good enough place to go for a night out and don’t cry when checking how much you spent on drinks on a workday. The deals on Wednesdays and Thursdays are one of the best in Dublin and the atmosphere is much better than in other similar places, a matter of likes of course. The deals for birthdays and celebrations are also very good for the city standards. If it happens that I am not working on a Thursday this is where you’ll see me partying like I was 22!

It’s a pretty good spot. It’s a little walk from town, but hey who minds a fresh at night. I would actually give a 4 here, but there is an entrance fee and they shut earlier than most spots, but the main problem is they now only open a couple of nights a week and have for years now. Big areas, beautiful bars, good DJ ! Nice furniture and smoking area It’s middling to pretty good, very good music, just note to mgt, open more and longer pls. Mind the stairs, I’ve fell down them more times than you can think!

The cheapest place in town! 2.5 drinks on weekdays! It’s a perfect place to just grab a cheap pint on their terrace on thursdays.

It was a long time since I had been to Howl At the Moon when I was there recently for a friend’s 30th. Small celebration so they reserved a perfect sized corridor on the ground floor right in front of the bar. The only problem with our reserved area is there was no dancefloor but we soon took over all the space we could for throwing some shapes! The building itself is fab and definitely worth a look in if you’re passing by that way! They do fantastic cocktails which were 2 for € 10 before 11pm. The cocktails were real, as in we watched them pour measures of real alcohol into our glasses and not just some pre-mixed brand name crap that has little to no alcohol content in them(you all know what ones I mean). The music was excellent while we were there. Lots of songs that would take me as a twenty-something year old back to my teenage years and childhood, without using the standard 90s dance tunes that get played every where for reaction. Something else I noticed with regard to the music was the variety, I mean they played everything from AC/DC to Blur to 5ive to Michael Jackson to Snoop Dogg and everything in between when we were there. A throwback to the original Eamon Doran’s in Temple Bar in it’s hayday where you could gather together the most random group of music lovers in the world & they would all have a great night(which was the case for my friends & I when we used to go to Dorans actually). Maybe we got lucky on the night we were there but the music was great which is always so important to setting the tone of a night out. The reason I’m knocking off one star is the price after 11pm. After you’ve got yourself well on your way with the delicious cocktails drink prices go up to what I can only describe as Temple Bar Tourist Prices(despite the fact that this put is very far away from Temple Bar). I was paying € 7.50 for a Malibu & Cranberry juice & the juice was coming from a 2 litre carton behind the bar, not a separate individual bottle(which I would have less of a problem paying so much money for). That being said I’m still a fan and will be back!

Stairs. Lots of stairs. One of these days I’m sure I will fall down(or up!) said stairs and make a fool out of myself in front of hundreds of club-goers. Somehow I’ve managed to get over this fear and hang out at Howl on a few Saturdays over the last few months. The place is huge! There are a lot of cool areas to hang out and a lot of bars scattered throughout so if one is busy, you can head to another. I got here early last Saturday and it was fun to hang out at the tables upstairs before the place got too busy. The downstairs level is lots of fun there’s a big bar and a decent dance floor. The DJs play pop music and everyone gets really into it and has a great time. It gets busier as the night progresses, but that just makes it more fun. The cool lighting — complete with lasers — makes for an epic dancing experience! I also like that some nights(maybe all?) including Saturdays are 23+ so it’s a bit of an older crowd, which is sometimes hard to find! Downsides — the outdoor/smoking area gets ridiculously packed. And the stairs.

I had been hearing about this place for the last few years but always seemed to allude me ‘cos it was a bit far out(walking) that side of town. I thought it was some half decent pub/trendy bar that was the launch pad for your night out… I had never heard anyone say they had ended up in there at the end of the night… And that is because of its location. It does have a nightclub downstairs, it is a trendy place to be. But when it is not exactly near Flannerys, Mercantile or Coppers then they are not going to be hot on somebodies list. So they became you one stop shop for having a birthday party in Dublin city centre. They offer you a space where only your friends will be — so no worrying about your things being lifted, or your seat bein taken. And afterwards you can go to a disco without ever having to go outside or try and arrange taxis. And this works well, once I got over the shock of it not being an actual pub(preconceptions aren’t good). So now to the night… We were allowed in from 8pm to decorate and to be told that the kitchen — which only does platters — was closing at 9:30, and did we want our platters at 9(9 was when we were having the ‘surprise!!!’ So that wasn’t going to fly with the 2 female organisers. 9:10 — ‘no, sure she might only be getting here then’ the poor guy should probably be used to people not letting anything ruin a surprise bday, but he was looking like he was going to break. Whether it was pre-discussed with his manager, like a car dealer who tells you he is giving you a good deal when he shouldn’t be, he came up with 2 platters at 9ish and more at 9:20 — everybody was happy. The platters were a good selection, the beers were lacking and a tad bit expensive — though when I asked if they had some more downstairs(the disco) I was informed by the bar person that it was going to be at least € 1 dearer — which is nice of the staff. All in all, ok place for a party. Only platter food. Beer — well a bit bland and a bit expensive.

It was kinda dull… And there was an entrance fee. It was far from town, the music wasn’t that great. Maybe I came on a bad night but I don’t think I want to go back.

Howl At The Moon is a bit off the beaten path but a great place to grab late nite drinks. I do like the décor and the layout and the staff are always sound. Even the bouncers here are usually in good form.

well I can’t help but wonder when the hell did Dublin become populated with tanned amazonian women in short dresses? They seem to be everywhere… Anywho howl at the moon wouldn’t exactly be my choice of venue, but I was there for a hen at the weekend and it adequately fit the bill. We got a nice section to ourselves, they did free finger food for us, cocktails were 2 for a tenner up until 11pm, they had lounge service until about 12 and a dancefloor with floor-filler music. It caters for generalists rather than specialists… and the décor is pretty. Downsides: well no matter how nice the décor is, it’s basically your bog standard niteclub which at some point becomes full of drunken idiots… having been a drunken idiot myself manys a time I don’t mean to be judging… I’m just saying you don’t seem to come here for the music or the banter, but to get bladdered. And it has a really sticky floor… Every time I tried to dance I was welded to some tiles — it really cramped my style! It is off the beaten track so you kind of need to go there on purpose. Also something happened there on sat night and the gardai came into the club at closing — didn’t witness anything and don’t have any details but we were all herded out sharpish at about 3. Lots of taxis were waiting outside so when we eventually rounded up our party it was easy to head home. So like 4 stars because it does what it says on the tin reasonably well Oh yes and the toilets are fine but will run out of loo roll so if you’re in there and there’s some it’s advisable to put some in your handbag for later!

Hey ho only four stars? This time, I would give only fours stars out of five for one reason only. Do you want to know that reason? All right here you are with a comprehensive explanation. What is How at the Moon? This is a club, three floors, an amazing staircase, plenty of space, a great choice of cocktails, cool music and really nice people ! Is it difficult to get in? Let me think about this one. Everytime I go there, I just greet the security guy and get in the place. I do not know if it’s difficult for guys to get in because whenever I go there, I go with male friends and they just follow me. So, I would say that you simply need to dress up a bit and be nice to the security guy at the entrance. It will all be fine ! I want more ! Howl at the Moon is just the place to go when you want to go for an after party. Actually I am living quite close to the place so, when I come back from city center, I sometimes decide to stop and spend some time there before going home. What do you usually do there? When I get into the place I first of all stay on the ground floor, order a drink at the bar and go sit in one of the comfortable armchairs to have a chat with my friends. If you are a little hungry, you can ask for finger food. You will get French fries, chicken nuggets and eventually some other fried finger food. It’s not too greasy, and does great when you have a little alcohol on the side. Beware that the kitchen closes at 23.00. Still I was there tonight, and at 23,15 they managed to bring me some food even though the kitchen was supposed to be closed. People are really nice, they will always make the efford to make you happy ! What do you do afterwards? After a drink or two, I usually go downstairs. There is a huge room with a DJ on the left and a big great dancefloor on the right. A bar is in frond of the entrance. I just pick a high table close to the dancefloor so that I can check my drink while I dance. I don’t want anybody to add any unknown/crazy/illicit substances into it. You see what I mean girls ! Do you have fun? The music is very cool, modern and sometimes retro, the DJs are always very professionals ! The dancefloor would be quite empty until 23.30 when it starts to get really crowded. And at 3.30 in the morning, it would be so packed that you can barely see your feet ! It seems that you really know what you’re talking about ! Oh yeah ! Between you and me it’s 4.00 in the morning now and I just come back from Howl at the Moon. I have had a great time ! I went there with a great friend, met a bunch of new friends and look forward to going back in the next weekends to come ! For more information, check this link : Anything else to add? After a few hours in Howl at the Moon, my ears are not working as well as they usually do. That is why I removed one star from the rating. This is the only negative aspect of the place. Downstairs, at the dancefloor, the music is so loud you can’t talk with your friends or you try to and read on their lips. When you get out of there, you do not have your full hearing potential for an hour or two before everything goes back to normal. «I am hungry for finger food» says my best friend. Sorry sweetheart but it’s 4.00 in the morning and I am not going anywhere else now but in my bed. Why don’t you Howl at the Moon instead ! XD

Yowza, what a space! I was meeting some friends for drinks and had no idea what I was getting myself into. Upon entering I saw this friggin grand staircase leading upstairs to a bar/lounge and downstairs to a dance floor. I have to say that impressed me a bit, but after that it was all business as usual. Girls are dressy, boys wear button-downs. They play top 40. Most people are in groups; occasionally a guy will break off from his group to hit on a girl who accidentally strays outside her pack. Everyone gets drunk.

I don’t know anyone who has ever gone to Howl at the Moon on a whim. Anyone I know who has ended up there, myself included, was lured there for a work night out, a group celebration or birthday party. In fairness, it’s pretty well laid-out with plenty of floors, nooks and crannies to accommodate the incoming groups. It does get busy as the night goes on and the crowd tends to be that bit older — late 20s and 30 somethings. It’s a grand spot but I still wouldn’t go back there unless lured.

I have gone to Howl at the Moon for the first time only recently, as it is in a strange part of town where there aren’t many pubs. If you’re going there on a Friday or Saturday night, be sure to turn up early as there is a queue for the place by about 11o’clock. I was kind of semi-casual dressed going to the door, and the lad who was with me was proper casually dressed, and we almost didn’t get in, so dress sharp, men. The place is pretty snazzy inside, it reminds me of the hotel in ‘The Shining’ for some reason, all elegant staircases everywhere(actually, probably more staircases per cubic foot than in any other club I’ve ever been in). The dancefloor isn’t huge, but there is a lot of general standy-around kind of space for you to break into the robot in if you feel the need. The highlight of Howl at the Moon is probably the smoking area, which is sort of like a big terrace, one of the best that I have seen. Howl at the Moon is over 23s, so a slightly older crowd, and maybe a little more sedate than other clubs. I wouldn’t go every week or anything but it is really not a bad spot, it’s worth a shot if you’ve never been, if not for anything else than the décor alone.

I love Howl as much as I hate it. Having lived down the street I ended up there many a weekend. The lay out is great, there are three floors(have fun walking those after a few too many), the upper floor being a lounge type area, midfloor has the dancefloor and lower is coat check and a bar. There are so many vibes in this place if you want a crazy night dancing you can do that here, if you want a more chill night you can do that here as well. There is a big heat and covered smoking area which is great for mingling amongst everyone. The biggest pain is the line for the bar — it get very crowded and waits to get to the bar man can be 15 minutes or more. So order your rounds to double fist them!

Einer meiner absoluten Lieblingspubs! Coole Leute, Musik, die zum Abtanzen einlädt und ein großer und schön gestalteter Aussen-/Raucherbereich! Perfekt for a Girl’s-Night-Out!
