Good classic fish and chips. Would like a place to sit, only thing holding back on a 5.

This chipper saved a few tourist girls after too many pints at the Guiness Storehouse! We found it in walking distance tucked away in an alley near Christchurch Cathedral. We squeezed in the line and came up pretty quickly. We asked for the classic fish(cod) and chips for € 9 to split and ended up with more than enough. Beware of buying one for yourself since the portions are huge! Once we grabbed and fast fish we walked over behind The cathedral to sit along the grass wall. I guess this wasn’t a secret since we saw about 10 other people with their own fish and chips chowing down there also. Definitely not diet food but if you’re looking for fish that melts in your mouth and fries/chips with the perfect amount of vinegar this is the place! I’ll have to go back asap!

Good experience. Walked in, Staind was playing on the stereo and the workers were busting their butts getting orders ready. They are so busy that they already have prepared fish and chips ready to go which makes the service EXTREMELY fast. As soon as I ordered, my food was in my hand. Only problem with that is when it comes to fried food everything that is supposed to be crispy gets very soggy and drenched in oil. That is what happened. I had a very soggy, oil drenched fish and chips meal. It was definitely tasty, but not the best fish and chips we had in Ireland. I didn’t have enough napkins to wipe the oil from my hands. It was good and worth the try.

With the fish I give it a 5 star. 4 star for the chips not my fave but overall a good quick pickup type of food spot. No seating available so we sat at a bar across the st and ate our yummy food. Worth it

We were craving some fish and chips after the Guinness factory, and this definitely did the trick. Be warned that this is take-away only, and there is no seating. Crispy, golden crust on the fish and yummy but slightly soggy fries. Plaque outside of all the famous people who have eaten there tickled me and I smiled to think that I was enjoying the same greasy seafood as Mick Jagger once had. Started pouring right after we got our food so we hailed a cab and munched our way home, looking out at rainy Dublin and feeling quite Irish.

Saw the mixed reviews before we went, but we thought we would still give it a try. Maybe we arrived at a wrong time, with no queues in the front, we got our order right away, meaning the fish and chips were both pre-made. Obviously, having sat under the light in the racks for a certain amount of time, our cod was barely warm, soggy, and so were the chips. Plus, the food tasted quite bland. Portion was huge, but we couldn’t finish it even with three people sharing, as it was not good at all. Quite disappointed, am sure it would have tasted great had it been freshly made, which it unfortunately was not, and this is quite an amateur mistake for a shop that has such a big reputation.

Well, disclaimer: I’ve been spoiled by delicious«fish fries»(that’s what we call them in the US) for my whole life. I have very high standards for fried fish. That being said, I enjoyed my meal and would recommend this place! So, I had some flight troubles and was stuck in Dublin alone for an extra day. I really wanted a true«fish and chips» experience before going home, so I turned to Unilocal.Unilocal did not let me down. Here is what I liked: 1) Excellent price for a huge portion of fish and a lot of fries… Uh chips. I believe it was about 7 Euro. 2) Fast, efficient service. Line was fairly long, but things moved quickly. The people behind the counter knew what they were doing and how to manage everything quickly. 3) Tasty! I liked what I ate. Fish had a nice flavor and the chips had a nice flavor. Yes, it was heavy and greasy, but that’s what I expected. One thing that bothered me was how everything was wrapped up together(fish and chips together) and there was no way for me to eat it to go. I had to awkwardly eat with my hands out of a wrapped up paper.(This might have been my fault for not asking for a fork and/or better container!) By the way, the only reason for my –1 star is that there was no «wow factor.» It was a solid experience, just not over the top great. Anyway, go here! Totally worth it if you’re looking for something greasy and delicious!

A takeaway chipper that is close walking distance to the Dubb Linn Gardens(where Dublin’s namesake) and from the Cathedral gardens. Very friendly service. Large portion of fish and chips. Chips were a bit on the soggy side and, thus, oily. Fish was golden crisp. Not a fan how if you really wanted sauce, there’s an extra cost. Do ask for the crispy extra bits and extra vinegar– I think this would have really improved our experience overall.

I read all great things about Leo Burdock in Dublin, so I drove over there while visiting Dublin. Parking is tight, with restricted curb parking. There is no seating, just pick it up and get out. The guy behind the counter suggested that I go sit and eat it in a nearby park. First off, I have eaten Fish & Chips all across England, Scotland and many other places elsewhere across the world. All I can say about Leo Burdocks in Dublin is that it is AVERAGE and this place is WAYOVERRATED and NOTWORTHALLTHETOURISTHYPE. The Fish and Chips were WAY to oily and soggy, and not freshly made(like any real Chipper would do it). It came out mass produced from under a heat lamp. They even charge you for the«sauces»(vinegar and/or ketchup in little containers). They also have a second Leo Burdock location in the Temple Bar area, and they are most probably the cheapest Chipper in that area for sure. HOWEVER, I would not go there again. I am sure that if you never ate«real» Fish & Chips before that you would believe that Leo Burdocks is the best… but trust me when I say that it isn’t. I am sure there are much better ones in Dublin. I DID have some EXCELLENT Fish & Chips at QUINLANSSEAFOODBAR(77 High Street) in Killarney.(See my review). Now THAT was real fresh made(and very delicious) Fish & Chips! They are WAY, WAYBETTER Than Leo Burdock any day.

This was without a doubt the best fish n chips I’ve ever had. You MUST try the smoked style if you come here. It has a unique smoked paprika taste below the fried coating that is absolutely delicious. It was the first time I’ve seen this as an option, but now I’m absolutely going to try making fish with smoked paprika myself! The fish was slightly better than the chips were, and both could have been just fine with less grease/oil. TIP…just like most fish n chips places… this is one of the greasiest and heaviest meals you’ll ever have, so know when to stop, know when is too much for your body… don’t pressure yourself to finish, or else it won’t end well.

I don’t really eat chipper food but my mate took me here and I was so glad he did. We got a large portion of chips and fish bites. There were four fish bites and they were huge. As was the portion of chips. All for € 7.50 — steep for fish and chips but to be honest, it was worth it. The portion was massive. The fish bites were huge and so fresh and tasty and the chips were not in the slightest bit greasy and didn’t taste of fish. They tasted of chips. With lashings of salt and vinegar this was one tasty filling Saturday night takeaway. No photos of food as it was night time, dark and we are walking around Dublin. Plus the bag was gone before I remembered to take a photo. Sign of a good feed!

Fish and Chips are a must when visiting Dublin. And what better place than the oldest«chipper» in town?! The fact that it’s across from Christchurch is even more of an incentive. The place is small, the gentlemen behind the counter are definitely«salty dogs» who are just as much an institution as the place itself, and the portions are huge and oh so good. You’ve really never had fish and chips until you’ve had them here. We made the mistake of each ordering our own cod and chips, with neither of us finishing. So, we could have shared a single portion and been quite content. There is no seating, it’s a pick up and go. But, like I said, it’s near Christchurch and a park, so you can go grab a spot there and enjoy your food amongst lovely surroundings. Cheap eats. Great quality. Absolutely delicious. Go now!

This place is a trip. Half the charm are the guys behind the counter who chatted us up and cracked some jokes as we ate. This is a hole in the wall that has been around for over 100 years. It’s not fancy and but it’s right in the middle of things in the Temple Bar district. Of course, then there was the food. My friend and I both ordered the fried cod with chips. Portions were huge– neither one of us completely finished. Salt with vinegar was on the table to season the chips. The fish was in a thick and crispy batter and the chips were chunky potatoes with the slightest amount of browning on the edges. They were soft and addictive. I am not a big fish and chips connoisseur but I’ve had it a fair amount of times in the U. S and while these were not«light» by any means, I didn’t get that greasy«I just ate fried food» feeling afterward. I am sure there are hundreds of places to order this dish but I glad I had it here, at a classic no frills place with a history and quirky counter guys.

When our cabbie dropped us off at our hotel, he did nothing but rave about this being the BEST fish and chips in all of Dublin. That’s definitely a hard sell, but when we walked over and saw a line literally forming out the store and down the street behind us, we knew this was something special. This place has been here forever, and they have a long list of celebrities hanging on the wall to prove it. The place is literally an order our kind of a place, and that’s always fine by me. Some of the greatest places I’ve ever tried were little holes in the wall, and this is no different. The menu behind the counter is fairly straight forward in what you can order. We originally wanted to try the haddock and chips, but they were out of haddock at the moment. So, two orders of fish and chips to go was what we got. By the time we walked it across the street and had it in the hotel, there was a good amount of grease that bled through the paper wrappings. It wasn’t as crispy as what I was hoping, but my hubby LOVED them! Don’t get me wrong — it was good, but I thought it was just my second favorite spot. The fish was a beautiful white color on the inside, and smelt of malted vinegar and batter; no fishy smell here. The chips were good; not anything like the fries I’m used to at home. They were definitely hand cut chips and fried with love. Would I get this again? Maybe if they had the haddock in stock would I give it another good go.

Thank you Unilocalers, this place did not disappoint! Fish and chips is my fried weakness, so when planning a trip to Dublin, I had to make sure that I had my fix! This place is a hole in the wall and strictly for take away(or «to-go» as we Americans say). For all other first timers, be sure to get the SMOKEDHADDOCK; it totally adds another dimension to your meal. Definitely ask for the vinegar and salt, but most of all, don’t forget your sauces! The CURRY sauce is the cat’s meow. If there’s anything that prevents this place from being a 5.0 out of 5.0 stars, it’s that they don’t supply you with a lemon wedge, and that you pay extra for sauce, not even ketchup!

Picture this: It was late, nothing was open, 3 fat americans were hungry. So we ended up here. The line was speckled with drunks and a lady who bought all the onion rings but that did not scare us away. We ordered our fish and chips and went on our way. When we got home we tore open the package to find a average meal. I was hoping for life changing but this just came short of that. The fish was sort of soggy and flavorless and the fries were not much better than burger kings. So if you want something average but not great go here. On the plus side… a lot of celebs and their crews have been here.

No trip to Dublin would be complete without traditional fish and chips from Dublin’s oldest chipper, Leo Burdock. This location is the original Burdocks that dates back to 1913. As the popularity for fish and chips quickly grew the husband and wife duo, Patrick and Bella Burdock, opened multiple Leo Burdocks Fish and Chip shops around Dublin. A few changes have occurred over the years. Originally the fish and chips were cooked in coal fired pans and wrapped in old newspapers, so that customers could eat and read the news at the same time. Today the fish and chips are fried to perfection, dusted and doused with salt and malt vinegar, and wrapped in paper sheets. The menu at Leo Burdock includes a variety of burgers, smoked and breaded fish and other fried treats, but we were here for one thing: fish and chips. After seeing the massive portions on Anthony Bourdain’s «No Reservations» I knew to only order one order of fish and chips to split amongst our group of three. We ordered the freshly fried cod with large chunky chips and extra salt and vinegar. After we paid for our food we took our paper wrapped feast down the street so we that we could people watch while gorging on the hot and flakey battered cod and salty chips. So delicious!!! I would never describe fish and chips as «amazing», but the fish and chips at Leo Burdock are truly amazing!!!

Sorry, no way.

Leo Burdock’s is a ‘fish and chips’ to take away local, very emblematic of the city. Here have been many famous artists and stars, whose presence is attested with a big sign. Between what is read and ask what you want, do not run as much time thinking about other citizens may be brought forward to seeing his indecision. The price is cheap for the amount of food offers(for two), but the customer care and service is poor approaching bad. Recommended for being one of those activities required to visit Dublin and feel a little more irish. To eat fish and chips this is the best place.
