Went along to McDonald’s. Food was lovely. I got a Veggie Wrap with Chips and Cheese Balls. Service could have been better. Mixed up my friends order. Took a bit of a long time.

It’s a McDonalds. Predictable cheap and cheerful post pub snacks. It’s been renovated so looked a lot cleaner than the last time I visited. Can’t go wrong with a Eurosaver cheeseburger on the way home

I’m not a huge Mickey D’s fan, but it’s restaurants have improved in recent years. Gone are the red and yellow plastic chairs and Ronald McDonald statues, replaced with more muted colours and IKEA-style art on the walls. It has even added a McCafe, where you can get coffee and muffins and pretend that you aren’t really in McDonald’s(there is a separate dining area). As for the food, the highlights for me are the Happy Meals — a fruit bag and a toy — and the sausage and egg McMuffins, but get in before 10.30am if you want the breakfast menu — the timetable is enforced with military precision.

Somewhere along the road in this post-Supersize Me world, McDonalds tried to make itself more Metropolitan and upmarket with salads, smoothies and the Mc Café. I hold a grudge against McDonalds because the food is gross and my last name is… McDonald. So I was called Ronald for most of my secondary school carreer. Anyway, as much as I didn’t want to, I like McCafé. The coffees decent and their Muffins are pretty good. It’s also reasonably priced. Ugh. I think I need a shower.

Like a squat toad in every city’s main shopping street, Mc Donalds slums its establishment on grafton street proudly and unabashadly. Following suit, the witless Dubliners sip Mc Lattes from its nauseatingly cynical Mc Café. Go if you want, but me, for one, I’ll be the one judging you from outside. Hey have you put on some weight, by the way?
