Meadows and Byrne has some really nice stuff and I’ve recently taken up an obsession with home décor which is both disturbing and worrying to me for a number of reasons. Perhaps its some kind of quarter-life crisis, but I’ve found myself drawn to places like this. As I say, the stuff is really nice, but way out of my budget. But if you’re a young professional with a nice salary to your name, you’ll love this place.

As far as homewares stores go, this is a very pleasant one. The lighting isn’t crazy fluoro like in some stores, and most of the items are affordable to the GP, or are at least in the realm of the possibly affordable, for those with good imaginations. The sale section does indeed bring everything to the accessible level for those on less generous salaries, and there is some really great stuff on sale at the moment, I recommend having a look. They also stock a good range of bed linens and towels and they’re not too dear either. And bath robes — love those things! The best part of shopping here is checking out all the show rooms and imagining one day having such well decked-out rooms in your very own apartment. Sigh.

Super sale on at the moment in Meadow’s & Byrne. I really like housey shopping, I just wish I was loaded… or had a home to fill with fabulous stuff… ah well, that doesn’t stop me shopping here. They have great kitchen ware and vases and plates that would make great wedding presents. The sale prices are great and even some bargains in the non-sale items.

Now let me just say first — I am not of the house buying age, nor do I plan on being anytime soon(unless I win the lotto) but I love browsing in Meadows and Byrne. This particular location is great — it’s a great big store with glass doors all around. Really spacious so you don’t feel like things, very expensive things, might fall on you at any second. This is the kind of place you go and wander round the shop thinking ‘if I had all the money in the world I would get…’ Outdoor furniture, chandeliers, couches, beds, home baking equipment — pretty much everything you would need for you home, under one roof. Now it’s not cheap, it’s not IKEA, but as some home ware places go, it’s not crazy expensive either.
