Cosy, friendly pub that has a little ‘cheers’ type of vibe to it… That everyone will know your name once you become a regular. Very friendly and attentive with a cosy lounge which has a nice casual vibe. Great place to unwind, catch up with some friends. Also, another added bonus… Dog friendly and I don’t mean just area outside for them with bowls, I mean take you big or small dog indoors and have then sit beside you. As a person who badly would like a dog but can’t have one cause I’m renting, this is the perfect place to go get myself some dog cuddles :-) Nice work guys at MVP!

I am going to keep this short. This bar has dogs in it… I know unbelievable. There are people eating and drinking in here. Some of the dogs were wandering around and worst of all 1 dog went to the toilet in the bar. Words fail. I could easily report this place might. Imagine a pub allowing f dogs, disgraceful,

What a great lil pub! I went on a particular rainy, windy and down right depressing evening so MVP was a cosy and welcome respite. They have a good selection of craft beers but went with the reliable Guinness, perfectly poured I might add. I was attending an event upstairs with plenty of couches and chairs it’s a nice little spot for talks. I see they do other events like yoga upstairs too which I’ll definitely have to try out. As the wind howled outside the talk flowed within the nice atmosphere of MVP. We tried out the«Mediterranean Spudbox» which were delicious! Bit on the pricey side at € 7 and then € 9 for the meaty ones but you do get a good sized spud! Overall a pleasant pub for a nice catch up with friends over a drink!

What an unusual way to spend a Saturday morning… yoga in the tiki bar upstairs followed by a sambo + coffee in the café downstairs. I rather enjoyed it! My bacon and brie toastie was tasty, as was the coffee… no better way to undo all my hard work in yoga! It did take half hour to be served though. Nevertheless, it was a warm inviting atmosphere where you can while away a couple hours chatting to friends. It’s a cocktail bar in the evenings which I think will cater well to the Portobello crowd but not sure I’ll travel quite so out of the way to come here!

I can’t speak for the cocktails as I was here on a Saturday morning, however, MVP seems like a quirky little bar. I was here for a Yoga class which is held upstairs, the Yoga is run independently of the bar on weekend mornings(check Free Yoga Dublin on meetup). There is a café in the bar up until 4pm which does toasted sambos, cake and coffee. I got a bacon and brie toasted sandwich, it was presented beautifully and tasted great! I’ll defineitly be back to sample a cocktail some evening :-D

I went here last night for the first time. Bit apprehensive as it doesn’t look like much from the outside. However The atmosphere was great– Really chilled, friendly staff, great music. Smaller than I thought but probably just added to the homely feel. Sampled the spuds on the menu which were delicious but would recommend a few more options for nibbles. Overall though it was a winner for me and we’ll definitely be back!

Adore this place, it’s now my local. The staff are the soundest in town, I feel lucky to live in Dublin 8. They have introduced me to fentimans and amazing spud boxes. A real community spirit place and a place that encourages conversation. I adore the decorations and the play list. Wonderful coffee and look at this toastie!!! Dublin 8 is great. Fair play.

Doggy’s first pub! Such a great atmosphere, and although I’d be biased because it’s one of the few places I can bring my dog, it would be great regardless. It really is everything I wanted my local pub to be, without thinking it’d ever be possible, and I feel very lucky that it is close to home! Great selection of cocktails, good music, cozy ambiance(candles and all); the perfect atmosphere to unwind and enjoy a drink. It’s no surprise that this place attracts lots of people, it’s not a typical bar in any sense, it has more of a café feel, being very laid back and relaxed. The staff are awesome, friendly and welcoming to dogs and humans alike! There is a water bowl at the entrance and treats at the bar. You’re even welcome to have your dog sit in the booth with you, which is a really nice perk for those of us with lap dogs. Though just a warning that there are usually a few dogs on any given evening, and most are off leash, though in our experience they’re all very well behaved so it’s never a problem. This place gets two paws(and thumbs) up!

Love this little bar. The cocktails are great, and they have a cool Whiskey selection. I’ve never tried their baked potatoes, but people swear by them! My favorite part is the fact that it’s dog friendly, and very close to my house, so I get to hang out with my doggie in there. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a quite talk. We need more places like this!

I would certainly be giving 4 stars but the word is out and it’s getting to be a bit too busy here, and not just with people. I’m mad about my rescue doggy, Princess Tinkerbelle Von Glitterpaws, and was loving being able to pop in here with her for a pint of a Friday, but last week I dropped in on the way back from town with my friend, doggy in tow, and it was jammed with both customers and(unleashed!) canines, thanks to the Publin list I presume. Unfortunately a few dogs were barking at my dog and she was obviously nervous and we left without a drink. I’m sure it’s still ok to bring her midweek so I will continue to do so, but I will miss my Friday cheeky one with her! And one day I will make it to Saturday yoga!

Look, so here’s the skinny. If you asked me to design a PERFECT local bar, my wishlist would pretty much go like this : 1. Friendly Staff 2. Fancy Rum 3. DOGS It appears the people behind MVP have somehow haxed into my brain and delivered exactly that. For good measure they’ve added an impressive range of incredibly affordable cocktails that changes regularly(8.50 for a great cocktail in Dublin just doesn’t happen anywhere else). The music is pitched at a perfect level where you can enjoy it without it ever getting in the way of conversation. More recently they have added a tasty selection of food — boxes of fried potatoes with various dips, stews etc. Perfect around 11pm on a Friday. Above all else though, the excellent staff seem to align nicely with me on their tastes in rum — there’s always a bottle of Ron Zacapa to keep me happy. You’ll also find an excellent selection of whisky, gin and a craft beers on tap and bottled. Did I mention that you can bring your dog?

Cosy place off the main areas as far as cool pubs go, but definitely one of my fave venues, particularly mid week. Been here a few times when they’ve hosted improv shows upstairs(always recommended) and stuck around downstairs after cos it’s just too lovely not to! Staff are friendly, they serve craft beers which is always a win and they even serve Old Jamaica Ginger Beer(non alcoholic, but tastes great in your cocktail!) — a rarity in Ireland but if you like ginger beer it’s one of the best, was delighted they serve them there! MVP is open late enough on weeknights, perfect for chilling with friends for a nice atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of town, yet still not too far away. Lovely gem of a find really!

Pretty chilled place this. Standard Craft Beers etc. Seemed a bit pricey to me? Quite a small place, generally quiet chilled out music. Not much of an atmosphere when I have been in. But liked it. Its the sort of place you go to relax for a couple of beers. Maybe before popping into KonKan across the road. Not really much else to say about the place.

Nice addition by the Bodytonic crowd. Cosy chilled out pub, nice crowd and amazing canapés and sandwiches. We started the night of a massive(round) birthday celebration in here and had sandwiches and canapés ordered, they were absolutely amazing. Not on the cheap side, though. It is a nice pub but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. It’s too far out and doesn’t offer anything special to justify taking a cab back into town.

Won’t serve tea or coffee after a certain time coz the tea bags are in lock down until the ‘coffee shop’ opens the next day! Same story as the Bernard Shaw. Wasn’t feeling well the day I called in with a friend and just wanted something hot to drink. Not all that impressed to be honest. Other than that, the girl behind the bar seemed lovely. Funky, relaxed background music.

Great place for relaxed drinks. Décor of a traditional bar but with«hip» in a good way details and music and an interesting selection of drinks. The staff were friendly and clearly care about the place, making any details that could seem pretentious in another place genuine. Went for a quiet chat and a pint with a friend, and I’ll definitely be back to try the cocktails! Even though the menu had no prices they were interesting enough to make me want to try them when I have enough money that a pricey cocktail won’t make me wince. Looking forward to another visit!

Woof woof! That was actually a dog, in a pub. Yay! \0/ I’ve been here twice now and my feelings for MVP have grown. I really like this place. The music is good. The décor is understated and comfortable. The staff are lovely and friendly. The atmosphere… I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s just lovely. Both visits I’ve had some craft beer I like. 5.50EUR both times for a 33cl can. Not cheap, but not too expensive either, for crafty beer. Wifi is free. Can’t remember the pwd, but the lovely staff will tell you what it is. Loos clean. Also, ordered a glass of coke. Got a pint glass of coke in return for 1.80EUR, which is excellent value. Thumbs up from me for that. I really like MVP. I think it’s our new favourite local. Woo!

Bodytonic’s third offering to the Dublin scene and it’s a nice one. Most certainly more sedate than the Shaw or Twisted Pepper,(it’s just a pub with normal pub working hours) but it’s got their trademark sensibilities all over it. It’s a bit rough around the edges(purposely so, no doubt.!), yet there is a certain charm to it. Lots of candle lit little tables and cute bunches of flowers, with the obligatory chalkboard signage, combined with the previous pub’s standard dark wood booths with pub-style upholstery(read: your Da’s mates have been sittin on it suppin their pints for the last 30 years). I have to say that the staff were really friendly — really, really. So that stood out to me immediately. Then there were the dogs — this could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your personal preference, but they allow dogs inside! They also do some other extra stuff on particular days — yoga, though with an added addition of Bloodys, pub quizes(beards obligatory), story-telling and the rest. To be fair to them, Bodytonic are doing a great thing around the city with all of their creative additions, so all power to them.

From the outside this bar looks like another cookie cutter hipster bar that seems to be popping up everywhere but on the inside it is refreshingly traditional(chairs that fit tables!). The décor hasn’t been changed much since it’s previous incarnation but the vibe definitely has. Cocktails are on the menu, they have a weekly comedy night and yoga and bloody marys on Sunday afternoons. The place was a little quiet for a Sunday afternoon but filled steadily as the evening went on. Phoebe our barmaid and owner/manager? of the pub was friendly and welcoming. She served us delicious 4.80 pints(4.50 for Guinness), explained the name, MVP, and welcomed suggestions for future events. MVP, stands for Minimum Viable Pub which is a play on the product development term, minimum viable product. According to wikipedia, minimum viable product has just those core features that allow the product to be deployed, and no more. This how MVP began and it is hoped that it will develop organically. This is a comfy and relaxed local and hope it does well. There’s a large bright upstairs room that would be a great to rent out for a party. I will be back to try out the Sunday yoga.
